Veterinary Emergency Group Introduce
For pet owners in Florida, an emergency situation with a beloved animal can be a terrifying experience. Unlike human hospitals, emergency veterinary care isn't always readily available, and knowing where to go for immediate, expert help is crucial. When your pet has an unexpected illness or injury, every minute counts. This is where a dedicated emergency animal hospital like Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in St. Petersburg becomes an invaluable resource for the community. VEG is designed from the ground up to handle urgent and critical cases, providing a level of care that a regular veterinarian's office cannot after hours. This article will serve as a guide to what makes VEG a vital service for residents of the Florida region.
The Veterinary Emergency Group operates on a simple, yet powerful, philosophy: to make a stressful and scary situation less so. This is reflected in their customer-centric model, where the focus is on communication, transparency, and keeping pet parents involved in their pet's care. At VEG, you're not left waiting in a sterile lobby, wondering what’s happening behind closed doors. Instead, you're a part of the process, able to be with your pet from the moment you arrive. This unique approach provides comfort during a difficult time and ensures you are fully informed every step of the way. When every moment is precious, having a partner who prioritizes compassion and clarity is everything.
The physical location and accessibility of an emergency veterinary clinic are paramount. The Veterinary Emergency Group is conveniently located at 9675 4th St N Unit B, St. Petersburg, FL 33702, USA. It features a wheelchair-accessible car park, a wheelchair-accessible entrance, and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. These features ensure that the clinic is welcoming to everyone, regardless of mobility challenges. A key feature of VEG's accessibility is that it is a 24/7 emergency service, open every day of the week, including holidays. You can walk in at any time, day or night, without needing an appointment. This is a critical difference from a regular vet's office and provides immense peace of mind for pet owners facing an emergency. They are always ready and available to see your pet. The clinic also accepts multiple forms of payment, including credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, making the financial transaction as seamless as possible during a stressful time.

- Highly Trained Staff: The team, including the doctors and nurses, is specifically trained in emergency and critical care, giving you confidence that your pet is in the most capable hands.
- Transparent and Honest Communication: As noted in a customer review, the staff doesn't pressure you into "unnecessary tests or spending money." They provide a clear "game plan" and allow you to make informed decisions.
- Compassionate Care: The testimonials from grateful customers praise the staff for being "amazing," "warm," and "friendly," and for providing "TLC" even during the most stressful moments.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I brought both my new rescue babies into VEG after they got into the trash and ate moldy food. We were immediately greeted with warm, friendly faces and given a room and a game plan. Both Birch and Freckles seemed at ease, even being in a vet's office. I didn't feel pressured to run unnecessary tests or spend money I don't have; just straightforward care to figure out what's going on. Turns out only one dog did the eating and the team gave it their absolute best efforts to try and induce vomiting. This girl is stubborn as heck and wouldn't do it. Rather than needing to pay to stay overnight, the team explained what to look for and let us go home to rest on our own. What could have been an emotionally (and financially!) devastating night ended with two wagging tails. Thank you so much for the whole team (wish I'd gotten their names but was so focused on my baby's care). Hope I don't need to go back, but good to know this open exists whenever we need it. 💙🐾
June 21 · J DeeFriday we went to VEG-ER for Pets on 4th Street St Pete, FL - the team of Dr Manning & nurses Rachel & Alicia & Jasmine & Regan were amazing & treated our BICHON Wrigley’s gastritis tummy pain with Pain Meds & RX’s asap! & lots of TLC!! -we had to go back on Saturday for extra ER care &Dr McReynolds, Nurses Sami & Candace helped get Wrigley’s Tummy pain addressed. We highly recommend this ER-VET (VEG-Er for Pets) - the entire staff are tremendous!
August 09 · Barbie SchultzHad to bring my dog in on Easter and thankfully they were opened. Checked in online and was able to bring my dog in and be seen immediately. We were welcomed with multiple nurses who were all so sweet to my baby. The nurse and doctor were both so nice and caring to Henley and gave him so many compliments (which he appreciated a lot). They even gave him an Easter basket with a toy, treats, and a bandana! Overall a great experience and took such good care of my baby, even on an holiday. Would recommend to anyone needing immediate care for their pets!
April 22 · Parker WelchWhat a hospital! As pet parents we never want to find ourselves at the ER vet but unfortunately my family found ourselves there after our Lab Goose went into sudden extertional heatstroke after playing at the park for only 30 minutes. If it wasn’t for Dr. Riddick and her team our boy wouldn’t have made it. The second we walked in they sprung into immediate action with no time to lose. They took extreme care and the best part, we got to be with him the entire time. I have actually worked at many vet practices myself and VEGs open concept style truly is extraordinary. You never have to wonder what is happening as you can be right by your pet’s side every second. Our boy was hospitalized overnight and we were welcomed into an overnight room to stay with him until he could safely be discharged. We are so extremely thankful for this facility and their team. We hope to never have another emergency but it’s so reassuring to know this facility is there just in case. We would also like to shout out the customer experience coordinator, Kevin. He was a true gem ensuring we were comfortable offerings snacks, drinks and even light conversation to take our minds of the traumatic situation we were experiencing. Thank you VEG St. Pete for being the real heroes!
May 21 · Brooklyn HubertI cannot say enough incredible things about VEG in St. Pete. Late Friday night, my dog Arlo suddenly collapsed without warning. I rushed her to VEG, and from the moment I walked in, I knew we were in the best hands. Mike was the first person I met, and his kindness immediately put me at ease during what was the scariest moment of my life.Dr. Manning wasted no time — she ran tests right away and discovered that Arlo had a ruptured tumor on her spleen and was bleeding internally. She was rushed into emergency surgery. Dr. Pollihan, who wasn’t even scheduled to work, came in to assist simply because he’s so passionate about surgery. That alone speaks volumes about the kind of people who work here. What makes VEG truly unique is that you never have to leave your pet. The entire hospital is open-concept, and you’re involved in every step. They even gave me a private room with a pullout couch so I could get some sleep while Arlo was in surgery — and they told me if I woke up at any point, I could go watch the surgery through a window. The care and thoughtfulness were just beyond anything I could have hoped for.The surgery was a success thanks to Dr. Manning and her amazing team. Throughout the night, nurses Amy T. and Alicia were incredible — so kind, so compassionate — I truly felt like Arlo and I were surrounded by love and competence. The next day, Dr. Riddick and Amy Grace took over Arlo’s care, and they were just as wonderful. Dr. Riddick has incredible bedside manner, and Amy Grace brought such fun, positive energy into a tough situation.I also have to give a special shoutout to Kevin and Candace, who were so much fun to chat with and made the experience even lighter. Honestly, every single person I interacted with was amazing — which is so rare. Not a single “bad egg” in the bunch. It was actually bittersweet to leave because I was sad to say goodbye to everyone who helped save Arlo’s life. And to top it all off — I just got the call that Arlo’s tumor was benign. Thanks to VEG, my sweet girl is still here and we can finally move forward. If you ever find yourself in an emergency with your pet, do not even think twice. VEG St. Pete is where you need to go. They gave me my dog’s life back, and I will be forever grateful.
