Wizard of Paws Physical Rehab specializes in comprehensive physical rehabilitation, conditioning, and wellness programs tailored for canines and other animal friends. Their goal is to restore, maintain, and maximize the strength, function, movement, and overall well-being of pets. While they work closely with your primary veterinarian and require a referral, their services typically include:
- Individualized Assessment and Treatment Plans: Every pet undergoes a thorough evaluation to identify specific problems, assess muscle mass, and determine baselines for function. A customized treatment plan is then developed to suit the pet's unique needs and recovery goals.
- Hydrotherapy: Utilizing an underwater treadmill, hydrotherapy provides a low-impact, weight-reduced environment for exercise. This is highly effective for building muscle, improving mobility, and reducing strain on joints, particularly beneficial for post-surgical recovery, arthritis, and neurological conditions.
- Laser Therapy (Photobiostimulation): Employing safe, low-level light modalities to provide pain relief, reduce inflammation and muscle spasms, accelerate healing, and improve circulation and nerve function. This is often used for injuries, post-surgical recovery, and chronic pain.
- Therapeutic Exercises: A wide range of exercises designed to build strength, improve balance and coordination, increase range of motion, and promote proper movement patterns. These may involve specialized equipment like physio-balls, wobble boards, and cavaletti rails.
- Manual Therapy: Techniques such as massage and joint mobilization are used to relieve muscle tension, stimulate muscle development, increase blood flow, and improve joint flexibility and comfort.
- Pain Management: Utilizing various modalities, including laser therapy, cryotherapy (cold therapy), and heat therapy, along with targeted exercises, to effectively alleviate acute and chronic pain.
- Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: Comprehensive programs to aid recovery after orthopedic surgeries (e.g., ACL/CCL repair, FHO hip surgery, luxating patella surgery, fracture repair) or neurological procedures, ensuring optimal healing and return to function.
- Treatment for Degenerative Conditions: Managing chronic conditions like arthritis (osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease), degenerative myelopathy (DM), hip and elbow dysplasia, and spondylosis to improve mobility and quality of life.
- Injury Prevention and Conditioning: For athletic dogs or those prone to injury, programs focus on strengthening, endurance training, and proper biomechanics to prevent future issues and maintain peak performance.
- Weight Management Support: Helping overweight pets exercise safely and effectively to reduce strain on joints and improve overall health.
- Home Exercise Programs: Providing pet owners with guidance and exercises (e.g., "ball work") to continue therapy and support recovery in the comfort of their own home.
The dedicated team at Wizard of Paws is committed to using a variety of proven techniques to address a wide range of mobility and pain issues in pets, working collaboratively with owners and referring veterinarians to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Sep 27, 2023 · Dana RogersDebbie and the Wizard of Paws team are some of the most amazing, caring people I’ve come in contact with. I brought in my pittie boy Bubba following an FHO hip surgery and they were with us every step of the way for many weeks on his big road to recovery. I have no doubt he would not be running free like he is now without their help. Flash forward about a year later to now, when Bubba started limping out of nowhere in his front leg, I knew exactly who to contact. Tricia was so responsive and timely over email. I brought him in within a week for evaluation, and I saw a huge improvement after one session. Not to mention they have been incredibly understanding with Bubba’s behavioral and training needs as well. Do not hesitate to trust Wizard of Paws with your fur baby’s needs!!!
Jan 22, 2024 · Gia FentonExtremely pleased with my experience with wizard of paws. Much happier both our treatment plan verses what the vet had originally wanted. I have sport dogs and do my best to keep them in peak physical health. My malinois is getting older and has been having some trouble with her back and knees. I’m very happy with our current treatment plan and am confident this will help her be able to continue sports and keep her happy and as pain free as possible. Thank you!
Oct 17, 2024 · Kaitlyn HansenMy Clumber spaniel pup was recovering from hip surgery and a spinal infection. She was unable to walk without assistance. We saw improvement after every visit and, when she took her first steps on her own over a weekend, I reached out and they celebrated with us! What means just as much to me is that Maisie is so excited to go to her sessions. That says a lot about the care she is receiving.
