They aim to provide professional veterinary medicine with a focus on empathy, ensuring that pets receive the best possible treatment. This dedication to animal health, combined with the efforts of their caring staff, forms the foundation of their practice within the Canonsburg community.
One client shared a particularly positive experience, stating, "My puppy was pretty sick and they got me in right away. Dr. Dorazio is the sweetest vet I have ever known. The girls were all so helpful and pleasant. I can’t thank them enough for helping our Draco. He is so much better just one day after the visit! Thanks again ladies." This review highlights the clinic's ability to provide prompt care for sick pets and the positive impact of Dr. Dorazio's compassionate approach and the helpfulness of the staff.
However, it's also important for prospective clients to be aware of all facets of client feedback. Another review provided a mixed perspective, praising the veterinary care but expressing concerns about client communication and specific protocols. While acknowledging that "Dr. Dorisio is awesome, very professional and is very compassionate," the client noted challenges with "very difficult to get an in office appointment," and the continuation of "COVID Pandemic" routines such as waiting in the vehicle. The review also expressed significant dissatisfaction with interactions with the office manager, Brittany, describing them as "disrespectfully and abrasively" and lacking "professional interpersonal communication skills." This highlights that while the veterinary medical care is highly regarded, there might be areas where client service and communication practices present challenges for some individuals. These varied experiences illustrate the importance of understanding the full scope of a clinic's operational style.

These regular check-ups are crucial for early detection and prevention of health issues.
- Medical Consultations & Diagnostics: For pets exhibiting signs of illness or injury, the clinic provides medical consultations, which likely involve diagnostic tools such as in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams) and possibly imaging (X-rays) to accurately diagnose conditions.
- Urgent Care Appointments: As highlighted by a client who got their sick puppy "in right away," the clinic strives to accommodate urgent medical needs, providing timely attention for pets that become suddenly ill or injured.
- Surgical Services: While not explicitly detailed in reviews, most full-service veterinary clinics like Akeso offer routine surgical procedures such as spaying, neutering, and potentially other soft tissue surgeries, often with pre-operative assessments and post-operative care.
- Dental Care: Dental health is a critical component of overall pet wellness. It's common for clinics to offer dental examinations, professional cleanings, and advice on maintaining oral hygiene.
- Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets, weight management, and therapeutic nutrition for pets with specific health conditions.

---Akeso Veterinary Clinic, while operating within certain procedural frameworks, exhibits several notable features and highlights, especially regarding its veterinary medical expertise and approach to patient care:
- Exceptional Veterinary Medical Care: Dr. Dorazio (also referred to as Dr. Dorisio) is consistently praised as an "awesome," "very professional," and "sweetest vet." Clients highlight her "compassionate" approach and effectiveness, noting immediate improvement in sick pets after visits. This strong positive feedback for the primary veterinarian is a significant highlight.
- Compassionate Treatment of Pets: The clinic's team, including "the girls" (staff), are described as "so helpful and pleasant," and demonstrating genuine care for the animals, ensuring pets like Draco feel better quickly. The overall positive rating for the veterinarian and other staff (a "+5" in one review) underscores this compassion.
- Prompt Urgent Care: The ability to get a "pretty sick" puppy "in right away" demonstrates their responsiveness and commitment to providing timely care for pets in need, a crucial feature for pet parents facing emergencies.
- Professional and Knowledgeable Staff (Veterinary Team): Beyond the lead veterinarian, other staff members are recognized for their professionalism and knowledge, contributing positively to the medical care experience.
- Challenges with Communication and In-Office Access: One significant highlight, though framed as a challenge by a reviewer, is the clinic's adherence to certain operational routines, such as difficulty getting in-office appointments and the requirement to wait in vehicles. This continued practice, post-pandemic, impacts the interpersonal communication aspect for some clients, making the experience feel "distant" and lacking "interpersonal and social communication skills."
- Mixed Client Experience (Management vs. Medical Staff): A critical distinction in reviews is the highly positive regard for the veterinarians and general medical staff contrasted with a very negative experience concerning "Brittany, the office manager." This points to a disparity in client interaction, where the quality of medical care is high, but administrative interactions might be challenging for some. The "below 0" rating for the office manager directly impacts the overall client experience for some.
- Ethical Veterinary Practice (Implicit from Dr. Dorazio's praise): While not explicitly stated as an ethical stance, the consistent praise for Dr. Dorazio's professionalism and compassion implies a strong commitment to ethical patient care, focusing on what's best for the animal.

Akeso Veterinary Clinic Reviews
My puppy was pretty sick and they got me in right away. Dr. Dorazio is the sweetest vet I have ever known. The girls were all so helpful and pleasant. I can’t thank them enough for helping our Draco. He is so much better just one day after the visit! Thanks again ladies.
May 14, 2025 · Sarah ShafferAs far as Akeso vetinary practice, their prices are expensive, I don’t like the fact that it’s very difficult to get an in office appointment, that you can’t go in with your pet, that you have to wait in your vehicle til their done doing whatever with your pet. I feel that a lot of the practices or routines that were changed during COVID Pandemic are still being carried over still now in 2025. Some changes were ok, and some weren’t. For example: Everything and everyone has become so distant and definitely lacking a lot of interpersonal and social communication skills. Some people have become so distant, negative, pessimistic and basically verbally nasty. This doesn’t have to be this way. Getting back to Akeso Vet. Practice, Dr.Dorisio is awesome, very professional and is very compassionate when you do get see her or talk to her, as well as some of the staff.I’d have to say, since from the beginning of making the 1st appointment for my puppy, up until now, I have been treated very disrespectfully and abrasively and talked to me in a condescending manner by Brittany, the office manager. I don’t know why she has a chip on her shoulder with me and if there was any conflict resolution to be had in a professional way, there wasn’t. I would not recommend them to anybody because of Brittany’s unprofessional attitude. However, would go back to Dr. Dorisio, because she’s an excellent veterinarian, if Brittany was not working there. I never felt so unwelcome by anybody in that office because of her. Brittany has the attitude that she’s above all and that you’re nothing but the dirt underneath her shoes. She has not shown any kind of compassion, especially when terrible unforeseen life’s circumstances happen. She does not return my phone calls in a timely manner. And it’s a shame because I am a healthcare professional. I am an RN and she never gave me the respect that I deserve. What’s the Bible commandment? “Do unto others as they do unto you”. I do believe in karma so whatever goes around comes around, God knows. The office manager gets below 0 as far as on a rating scale. But however, the veterinarian and the other staff that work there have a good rating of a +5 for them. What I would recommend is, for Brittany to take a course in professional interpersonal communication skills, so she could be able to talk to any person in a way that’s not degrading or disrespectful. Good help is hard to find anymore. I will pray for her, that God burdens her heart & attitude changes in a positive way. Have a nice day! 😇
Jul 02, 2025 · Angel 219Poncho and Zeek are both patients of Dr. Dorazio. We are so happy we found her. She is great at communicating what is going on. She is so kind to the patients and their families. Prices are less expensive than other places we’ve been. I would be proud to recommend Akeso to anyone.
Nov 20, 2024 · Nancy LakeI have to been to multiple vets over the past few years due to moving, and I have never been to a vet that is so compassionate. Each staff member, between the techs and the doctors, have been nothing but sweet, kind, and thorough. I wish Dr. Dorazio could be my PCP because she is just so kind and I feel that she genuinely listens to my concerns about my cats and goes through all scenarios of what the issue may be. I have never had a negative experience, and they have always been on time and able to fit me in during emergency situations. Their team always calls me after my visits to see how my cats are doing. They are transparent and prices are very fair. I cannot say enough good things about Akeso!
