★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- We took our 13 yr old dog "Gunner " to see Dr. G. He is diabetic and needed cataract surgery in both eyes. Dr. G is a very confident and thorough guy. He did multiple test on Gunner to make sure he was a good candidate for surgery. The staff is also very nice. We drove almost 3 hours to the Hiawatha location to have the surgery. Before the surgery Gunner had a blank stare on his face. He couldn't see. It was very sad watching him try to get around. Playing ball was always his favorite thing to do but since his cataracts he couldn't see the ball so he couldn't play. He was very sad and his quality of life was not the same. The surgery went great. Gunner is doing great. His reaction when he opened his eyes and could see us again and play ball again was worth every penny. Thanks to Dr. G and his staff !Don sullivan August 06 · Don Sullivan
- After our dog, Teddy, was diagnosed with SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) at the end of May, we were devastated to learn he would have "rapid, irreversible blindness." Rather than just accepting this fate, we researched an experimental treatment offered at Animal Eye Consultants and drove from New York to Iowa to pursue intraocular IVIg injection in combination with systemic immunosuppressive medications with Dr. Grozdanic. Prior to Teddy receiving this treatment, olfactory testing revealed decreased smell sensation (hyposmia). There was also a suspicion of decreased hearing. Since treatment on June 10th, I am delighted to report the beneficial effects on Teddy's sensory responsiveness as evidenced by videos of him playing fetch, navigating an obstacle course, his pupils constricting in daylight, and performing well throughout the day, including jumping on a chair all by himself. Although his days of catching food in his mouth or barking at planes in the sky might be over, we continue to watch in amazement and wonder as he is rediscovering the world. Not only have you helped restore some of Teddy's vision and brought back joy into his life, but you have given us hope by believing in a miracle. With profound gratitude,The Tenoglias August 01 · Natalie Tenoglia
- Brought my dog here two years ago for entropian repair and hyperplastic follicle stripping. Every vet visit since, vets have told me she needed a second entropian repair. After the surgery her eye watering did not stop and she continued to rub her eyes even with my diligent eye care/meds/drops. After a lengthy discussion with a vet, I decided to get a second entropian repair. The vet was flabbergasted when she saw how the surgery was done. She said there was tons of scar tissue and free floating sutures still present in the eyes/eyelids. The vet that did the surgery took off plenty of skin and now my dog can actually see. I haven’t had a single issue with watering or itching since.I am writing this as a delayed review because I now have the outcome of a proper surgery. I didn’t know how bad the first procedure was. I can also mirror the other reviews of wait times and costs of this practice. I understand it is a specialty, but transparency on pricing and wait times would be nice. August 19 · Sarah D
- The doctor is very knowledgeable, however the reason I’m giving only 1 stars is due to the cost, the waiting room is so small (for humans that’s fine, but add animals to mix it’s awful!), and you better plan on being in the office at least 2 hours. They are NEVER on time. We are currently in a room and an hour past the appointment time (per norm), and haven’t seen a doctor yet. I’m editing my review as we have just seen him. I complained about the wait time. Our time is just as valuable as his. Because I complained, he fired us as a client. One of the staff came out and talked to me and my husband, explaining the staff has also complained about the wait time and her exact words were “he just doesn’t care and doesn’t listen.” Not only is the wait time bad for us humans, it STRESSES THE ANIMALS OUT TOO! He is pure arrogant. I fully expect him to respond to this review full of arrogance and snide. This doctor has the monopoly on animal eye care, so he can charge whatever he wants apparently. You better be ready to take out a second mortgage. If you have to call in a prescription, it’s a $20 fee on top of whatever the prescription cost is. Human doctors don’t even charge that! He is out for the all mighty dollar and doesn’t care if he stresses your animal out for the long wait time. May 19 · Kelly B
- I was so worried about my three year old dog Mama when I got there and from the receptionist to Sarah to Dr. G I couldn’t have been happier with the care that they showed me for my girl. I am sure I am one of the lucky ones that walked out of there, knowing that her site was going to be fine. They were very compassionate. They ran several tests and I have recommended them already as soon as I got out the door and got on the phone. I told my friends about them if they ever have eye problems dog or cat that is a place to go.I gave them a rating of five if there would’ve been more choices I would’ve given them whatever the highest was thank you so much Animal Eye Consultants and God, my prayers were answered and I’ll see you in six months.
