Features / Highlights

The Animal Health Center in Stewartsville, NJ, possesses several features that are notable for local pet owners, though it's important to consider a range of client experiences.

  • Comprehensive Surgical Capabilities: A significant highlight is their capacity for both routine and advanced surgical procedures. Beyond standard spay/neuter operations, they offer complex orthopedic surgeries like ACL repair and bone pinning fracture repair, which is a specialized service not available at all veterinary clinics. This provides a valuable resource for pets requiring intricate surgical interventions in the New Jersey area.
  • Long-Standing Presence in the Community: Dr. Robert Blease opened the Animal Health Center in 1967, and it moved to its current location in 1986. This long history suggests a deep-rooted presence and experience within the Stewartsville community, potentially indicating established patient relationships and a wealth of veterinary knowledge over decades.
  • Specialization in Small Animals and Some Exotics: The center explicitly states its specialization in dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, chinchillas, and "other exotics" (excluding birds or farm animals). This focus allows them to develop expertise in the care of these specific species, which can be a significant advantage for owners of non-traditional pets.
  • Partnership with Common Sense For Animals: The Animal Health Center provides veterinary care for pets at Common Sense For Animals, Warren County's only no-kill animal shelter, located on the same property. They also offer reduced or free care for pets adopted from CSA within 30 days, including a free first return visit for puppies. This community involvement highlights a commitment to animal welfare beyond their direct client base.
  • Areas for Improvement in Client Communication and Sanitization: It is crucial to address the negative feedback received. Concerns about unsatisfactory post-surgical cleanliness for a pet, lack of clear communication regarding potential issues (e.g., staining on a white coat), and a perceived lack of empathy from the doctor suggest areas where patient communication, follow-up care, and clinic cleanliness could be improved. Another review points to long waiting times ("wait up to 2 hours after your scheduled appointment") and a vet who was "not helpful" after multiple visits, indicating potential inconsistencies in service delivery and diagnostic efficacy in some cases. These points are significant for potential clients to consider when choosing a veterinary provider.
