Wellness and Preventive Care: This forms the cornerstone of good pet health, involving routine examinations, vaccinations to protect against common diseases, and parasite control programs for fleas, ticks, and heartworms. Regular check-ups help to detect potential health issues early, often leading to more effective treatment outcomes.
Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses or injuries, veterinary hospitals typically utilize various diagnostic tools. This can include in-house laboratory testing for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams, as well as imaging services such as X-rays (radiography) to visualize internal structures.
Surgical Procedures: Common surgical services often include routine spaying and neutering, which are crucial for pet population control and can offer significant health benefits to individual pets. Other soft tissue surgeries for conditions like tumor removals or wound repairs are also typical offerings.
Dental Care: Pet dental health is vital for their overall well-being. Services often include dental cleanings, extractions, and guidance on at-home dental care to prevent periodontal disease.
Nutritional Counseling: Advice on appropriate diets for different life stages, breeds, and specific health conditions helps pet owners make informed choices about their pet's nutrition.
Microchipping: Offering microchip implantation is a common service that provides a permanent form of identification, greatly increasing the chances of reuniting lost pets with their families.
Pain Management: For pets dealing with chronic conditions like arthritis or recovering from surgery, pain management strategies are often offered to improve their quality of life.

Kittanning Veterinary Hospital Reviews
Took my family cat of 20 years here because he was not doing well and we figured it was time for him to cross the rainbow bridge. The entire experience was horrible. The tech that brought us back to the room was very callous and dry. She explained the process in a very crass way and seemed annoyed and inconvenienced with every question. She said they were taking him out of the room to place a catheter which made no sense to me why they were doing that at all when it’s typically just 2 shots given. She took him and came back in several minutes later saying he was fighting them so they were just going to sedate him. He was actively dying so I’m not sure how much of a fight he could’ve even put up but also confused as to why they were trying to place a catheter at all. She disappeared from the room before we could even respond. She didn’t offer for us to say any final goodbyes, or to even hold him while he was being sedated. She didn’t bring him back into the room to be sedated or anything. Several minutes later she brought back in a dead cat who was already setting into rigor mortis and told us he was “just sedated”. She then immediately left again and got the vet who pronounced him dead. My sweet boy died alone in the room with miserable ass strangers. Afterwards there was no calm or caring words just “do you want a bag for him?”. They told us they would meet us at the back door with his body after we had a minute with him. Everyone there had a terrible attitude and acted like they were annoyed at everything. I understand that working in healthcare is taxing and can make you callous but the way my sweet boy was treated was disgusting. Honestly I’m not even sure if any drugs were administered or if he passed from the distress of them trying to place a catheter (which still makes no sense to me) and they panicked and just brought him back in after. Either way every person we had contact with needs to retire because if you can’t be kind or caring towards people when they are losing their animal you should not work in vetmed.

Oct 10, 2024 · Brittany MilliganI was a bit disappointed at my visit here on April 28, 2025. I was apprehensive to go to this visit as the checkup last year did not go well. They seem unprepared to handle an anxious and somewhat aggressive dog. The tech we had did not seem to enjoy her work and was quite sarcastic about working with our dog. She remembered him from last year I guess. I would think one in her line of work one could pretend to like animals. When he got his shots, I asked if that was all he needed and they assured me it was. When we checked out the receptionist and I realized he needed his rabies shot, which was missed. I was upset as I thought he may not do well any longer. Instead of apologizing, they just said that everyone makes mistakes and seemed to blame me for being upset. The vet also seemed unprepared when I asked about the medication and sedation they administered and told me to give my dog last year. I was wondering because of the negative side effects he had afterwards, as they also told me to give him the same medication this year. I have been wanting a new vet anyway, so I will not be returning here.

May 16, 2025 · Mark MIECZNIKOWSKII have been going here with my pets for about 30+ years and have always had a great experience when there. The vets and staff are friendly, caring, and compassionate when you bring your pet there. I will continue going here as long as I have pets. Great place!
