Fox Run Equine Center Reviews
Fantastic, amazing experience. We brought our horse in for an apparent colic episode that was not cleared by our regular vet giving her fluids and medicine. Dr Burke was incredibly thorough and detail focused- he wanted to find the cause of her problems and not simply treat them in the short term. Other people have mentioned the cost- and the cost for medicine and treatments for horses are not cheap- but Dr Burke provided a breakdown of every single charge for care, and I have 0 problems with any of them. Horses are expensive but because of him we had a horse who was able to come home to us. Not only that, he knew how she took her medicine the easiest because he spent time and attention on her while she was under their care. I cannot recommend him enough. If you have concerns for cost, discuss them with him beforehand- I found no fault in their care, and their honesty. 10/10 - I will be coming back if anything further should happen for any of my horses- he and his entire team were amazing.
Feb 20, 2025 · Andy DugginsDO NOT GO THERE! Our horse which was bought for our daughter was severely injured while at this facility. As a result he had to be put down. This doctor charges your card without permission and charges your card without telling you he is charging it. In addition charging astronomical fees. He overcharges. He destroyed our horse. I have numerous pictures and videos. If you go there make sure you document and take pictures of your horse ahead of time and while there if you choose to go to this facility. You might need later. After going here I learned by numerous people in the horse community that this doctor has a bad reputation. If I would have known this I would have never went here. We are still grieving the loss of our daughter’s horse. I would also suggest if you have a similar situation to ours that you get a necropsy done by another vet if your horse passes away. We are very glad we got one done.
Jan 06, 2025 · C TOwning animals is expensive and everyone should always budget for them. With that said, he prepared to pay exorbitantly for any admittance or surgery. The first thing they ask for is your credit card. Then you sign a paper giving them the ability to charge whatever they want. Forget giving them a budget, they will just go right over budget. Despite a $2k per day bill, no or little daily communication. Like pulling teeth getting any information.3 stars because Dr. Burks knows horses but honestly it’s cheaper to drive 4 hours east to Penn Vet (they are actually cheaper if you can imagine that) or 3.5 hours west to Columbus. But if you are stuck and have thousands laying around, he will fix your horse if it can be fixed.
Dec 27, 2024 · PGH GuyFox Run Equine is an excellent place to take your horse. Dr. Burks is extremely helpful and one of the best veterinarians I've seen! After months of struggling with a non-healing hock injury, the horse was taken to Fox Run Equine and had surgery. Most veterinarians turned her away and said she would never heal, but after a visit to Fox Run, she was able to fully heal and be ridden soundly again!! Another neat thing was we were able to see pictures of the surgical process. Fox Run is a great educational resource, as they are always explaining Equine health and medicine
Mar 04, 2023 · Emily TrunkDr.Burks and his staff are very professional. My horse was diagnosed with Lyme and had to stay the week at the facility to receive intravenous medication. I felt very comfortable and had a peace of mind leaving him there! I knew he was in the best hands possible. They are very compassionate, reassuring and will do and or try anything to get to the root of the problem to get the best prognosis possible.I would highly recommend them. Thank you again Dr. Burks and Staff for all that you do!
