★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If I could give no stars, I would. This happened almost 2 years ago but I still am haunted. We had a dog named Moose who has severe behavioral issues from his horrid past before we got him. He was a 60 pound pitbull and was still growing. He would black out and attack our other dogs. He wanted to kill them, and the only thing we could do was try our hardest to get him off the dog he would always attack which was way smaller than him. It was months of this and no one would help without paying thousands for training which we didn't have. He ended up attacking my boyfriend and we knew we had to let him go. We couldn't risk giving him to another family after that. We called every vet in town before calling Appalachian. No vets would put Moose down unless we proved he had issues by paying thousands for a trainer to deem him dangerous, which we already knew. We even showed these vets videos of Moose attacking, but they still refused to help. We finally decided to try Appalachian even though we had heard bad things. That's a mistake I'll never forgive myself for. They immediately agreed to put Moose down without any questions. I tried telling them the reason, but they just didn't care. They just wanted our money for the euthanasia. When putting an animal down, it should be NOTHING but peaceful. The animal should NOT show any signs of pain, because they should be in a deep sleep. However, whether they wanted to cut back on the price of sedation or just didn't care, they injected him with the euthanasia prematurely. I'll never forget his screams, the way he looked at me like please help me. I'll never forget how he thrashed and blood starting pouring out of his mouth. My boyfriend made me leave and I fell on the ground outside, inconsolable. They brutally killed him, when all they needed to do was either A: use more sedation or B: wait longer for the sedation to kick in. They knew how to do it properly and unfortunately they aren't the first vets I've seen cut corners to put an animal down to help with costs. Its the last moments of their life, why would you want it to be painful? Dr. Magnum and his vet tech looked at me like I was crazy when I cried. These people do NOT care for the well being of animals. Do not trust these people with your babies.
March 23 · Jessie YoderAbsolutely wonderful experience, I have a 12 year old Yorkie that needed urgent dental work done. Dr. Mangum got him in right away and got my little guy all fixed up. The staff was friendly and it was very affordable. Thank you all so much!!
April 28 · Hannah ForresterThis office killed my Ferret. They even allowed to him to get flea. Which is the Doctors said killed him. He didn’t have them when I dropped off for an observation. They also lost his records. I will never return. Maybe they got into the wrong business. I couldCould not even file a state complaint cause the only record they had was from the first visit. When we got an antibiotic. They didn’t mention the 2nd and final visit. All those notes were just lost.
August 29 · James WolzDr. Mangum helped me out when I was at my lowest. My cat, Mr. Buckles, had suffered trauma to his back and blood clots that prevented blood flow from reaching his hind quarters. Mr Buckles was with me for over 11 years. Great cat! Thank you again Dr. Magnum.
August 24 · Robert TurnerTo make a long story short, I wouldn’t waste your time here. The old lady has the customer service skills of a baboon, none of their staff is trained properly (that’s falls on the management, not them) and they didn’t even bother to stitch up my bunny after having him neutered. Not to mention, what they quoted me for a neuter was $100 off from what I was told. The response to that was, “idk why you were told a price?” Well Karen, I don’t either. I don’t train YOUR people. But anyways, awful experience. An animal shelter smells better than this place because there’s turtles everywhere. Why is there turtles everywhere?? This place felt like a fever dream.
