Auburn Veterinary Hospital Inc. has built a reputation for its full-service model and long-standing presence in the community. However, it is essential for prospective clients to be aware of the experiences of both satisfied and dissatisfied customers.
- Long-Term Client Trust: One customer shared their family’s multi-generational loyalty, having trusted the hospital with "many pets go through their doors over the years" since 1998. The fact that a family member now drives an "hour and a half to bring her dog" to the hospital speaks volumes about the level of trust and confidence they have in the veterinarians and staff.
- Compassionate End-of-Life Care: Another client, who had to make the difficult decision to put a pet down, expressed their gratitude for the team's caring and sensitive approach. The staff was described as "extremely caring and sensitive to my needs," and the option to leave through a private door was a feature that provided much-needed comfort during a devastating time. This shows a level of emotional intelligence and compassion that is critical during such moments.
- Concerns Over Diagnostic Thoroughness: A detailed account from a different client, however, raises serious concerns. They describe a situation where their hyperthyroid cat, with a history of pancreatitis, was not given a full bloodwork panel during an emergency visit. The client felt the veterinarian "failed to thoroughly examine" their pet, missing a late-stage cancer diagnosis that was discovered at an emergency clinic just days later. This experience highlights a potential issue with communication, thoroughness, and the diagnostic process. The client felt that due to the delay in diagnosis, their pet's suffering was prolonged.
- Convenience and Accessibility: The hospital’s all-in-one approach to veterinary care, grooming, and boarding is a significant highlight. The availability of an in-house pharmacy, boarding, and grooming services makes it a one-stop-shop for many pet owners in the Auburn area.

When choosing a veterinary hospital in Washington, it is important to consider both the breadth of services and the quality of care. Auburn Veterinary Hospital Inc. offers an extensive list of services, from routine exams and vaccinations to complex surgeries and grooming, making it a convenient option for many pet owners. The long-standing trust of some clients and the compassionate care shown during difficult times are strong indicators of the hospital's positive impact on the community. However, the serious concerns raised by at least one client regarding a misdiagnosis and a lack of thoroughness in a critical situation cannot be overlooked. For some, the convenience of having all services in one location, combined with the positive experiences of many long-term customers, will outweigh these concerns. It is crucial for potential clients to use this information to make an informed decision and to consider their own comfort level with a clinic's diagnostic approach and communication style before entrusting them with their pet's health.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We have going to Auburn Veterinary Hospital since 1998. We have had many pets go through their doors over the years. We ABSOLUTELY love all the veterinarians and their staff here. Yes we have seen them all.Our middle child ( a grown up now ) drives an hour and a half to bring her dog seeto them as well. She doesn’t trust any other vet with her dog’s care.We trust Auburn Veterinary Hospital to the fullest and have never had any issuesWe recently had to put one of our pets down unexpectedly. They were upfront and honest as to what was going on. To say i was devastated, is putting it mildly. They were extremely caring and sensitive to my needs. I also love that they have a door that I could leave without going through the main lobby. They were all so good to our LUNA GIRL.We are eternally grateful.
July 11 · Outhouse Screen Printing and EmbroideryIt’s a veterinarians job to care for their patients. To recommend and run the proper tests. Listen to their client when they explain what symptoms are occurring and come up with a treatment plan moving forward. I have been taking my cats here for years and I believed they were receiving proper care the whole time. It has recently come to my attention that one of my cats that is hyperthyroid and has a history of pancreatitis has had the bare minimum of care. I brought my cat in last week for an emergency appointment since he had been vomiting, lethargic and has been rapidly losing weight. Doctor opted to do a thyroid blood test, ultimately changing the dosage of his thyroid medication and giving him a solensia injection. He did not do a full bloodwork panel. In fact there was no conversation about there being a potentially different issue going on with my cat. His conversation with me that the thyroid levels are within range and to just let him know if my cat keeps vomiting. He did not run additional tests, he did not question how the good test results would correlate to weight loss, vomiting and lethargy. I called back into the clinic 5 days later, explaining that my cat was declining even further. They informed me that it was “moving day” for their upcoming Grand Opening of their newly remodeled clinic. Theyoffered me an appointment the following week. I then informed them, that I felt he needed to be seen asap. They referred me to an emergency clinic. I rushed my cat to the emergency clinic with what I perceived to be labored breathing. He was immediately placed in an oxygen chamber. In the Doctors words it was “end of life” breathing. His diagnosis was that my cat was severely dehydrated, extremely underweight, and his abdomen was clearly distended. When I told him my cat had been examined 5 days prior, he was very surprised. For two days, bloodwork, radiographs and fluids were the treatment plan, as well as plural effusion(pulling some of the fluid out of his abdomen) I had to wait through the holiday weekend to get my cat an ultrasound. The ultrasound results revealed that my cat has late stage cancer, and has fluid in his lungs and abdomen. The doctor located a mass within moments of touching my cat and couldn’t believe no other Doctor had mentioned it before. They stated that he was severely dehydrated. Another thing our doctor at this clinic did not mention. It makes me sick to know that I put my pets care in the hands of a vet that didn’t communicate other possible reasons for his symptoms. Didn’t offer me additional treatment or tests. In fact it appears he did not do a thorough examination of my pet when I brought him in just days before he passed away. This clinic has failed in so many ways. Failed to listen to my concerns, failed to thoroughly examine my cat over the several visits in in the last few months, failed to make proper diagnosis and recommendations. In conclusion, due to the delay in diagnosis my pets suffering was prolonged. Given the diagnosis, our only option was to have our pet put to rest. Had my pet been diagnosed in the early stages of his disease, when the decline was first noted (weight loss, frequent colds, vomiting) we could have explored all available options and made an informed decision.
July 09 · Tracy AldridgeNormally despise going to new vets but this one has been amazing. Absolutely love the receptionists there, they are wonderful! Highly recommend!
March 12 · Traci ReedWe want to thank Dr Schneider, Dr Jow and Dr Cullen, along with the entire staff for the excellent care you consistently provided us for our standard poodle, Elli for the past 14 1/2 years, not to mention Frosty, our Dalmatian, who you also gave excellent care to for the previous 13 years. I would not want to ever use another Clinic to care for our animals. You are all amazingly compassionate, excellent doctors and always expedited our needs whenever possible. Elli even enjoyed your fun staff and was never difficult to take her to appointments, she was ready to visit her friends. Thank you all, it meant the world to us.Sincerely, Ann Thompson
