These plans are designed to help manage the costs of routine veterinary care. While specific services may vary by location, generally, the Mesa Banfield Pet Hospital provides:

When considering Banfield Pet Hospital in Mesa, local Arizona pet owners often weigh the benefits of a national network against individual clinic experiences. Based on customer feedback for this specific location, certain aspects stand out:
- Optimum Wellness Plans: A primary feature of Banfield is its Optimum Wellness Plans, which offer bundled preventive care services for a monthly fee. For some pet owners, this can provide a predictable cost for routine veterinary needs.
- Accessibility of a Chain: Being part of a large network means Banfield clinics generally have standardized protocols and access to some centralized resources.
- Convenient Location (within or near PetSmart): The typical co-location with PetSmart stores can be a convenience for pet owners who frequent these retail locations.
- Availability of Basic Services: For routine vaccinations, microchipping, and standard check-ups, the clinic generally provides these foundational services.
However, it's important for local Arizona pet owners to be aware of recurring themes in customer feedback specifically for this Mesa location and others within the Banfield network:
- Concerns about Diagnostic Thoroughness: Some pet owners have reported feeling that conditions might be brushed off or not fully investigated during initial exams, leading to delayed diagnoses. Examples include a cat with suspected asthma where the initial exam found "normal" breathing, only for the cat to have multiple attacks later, and another pet whose owner felt the doctor did not adequately consult on potential diagnoses before ordering expensive tests.
- Communication Issues: A significant concern highlighted by customers is a perceived lack of thorough communication from veterinarians, both during and after visits. This includes instances where doctors did not speak directly with pet owners about test results or treatment plans.
- Perceived Focus on Wellness Plans: Some feedback suggests that the clinic's primary focus might sometimes appear to be on enrollment in or adherence to their wellness plans, rather than addressing immediate, acute concerns comprehensively.
- Challenges with Continuity of Care: Comments about doctors leaving or not being available for follow-up suggest potential challenges with continuity of care, which can be frustrating for pet owners.
- Customer Service and Organization: Several reviews mention issues with disorganization and unhelpful interactions with front office staff, impacting the overall client experience.

Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
if you care about your animals do not take them to this location. i came in i because i thought my cat has been having an asthma attack once a day for the past week. i showed a video the doctor came did the wellness exam said her breathing sounds “normal” her neck does NOT look extended out ( see the picture below yes it does ) i went home and she proceeded to have 5 asthma attacks in one day. ( see the picture of her struggling to breathe during the attack ) i made an appointment at else where (follow your intuition owners and advocate for your pet) i showed a video immediately diagnosed with asthma. i could not imagine if i let her continue having asthma attacks or possibly not breathe thinking she was okay due to their exam. they brush you off as i see many comments below saying.
Mar 18, 2025 · Emily KruhajI took my dog to Banfield Hospital. No one counseled with me. I thought that my dog might have Cushings disease. If the doctor would have met with me before getting a test for Cushings disease, maybe she could have seen if she had any other symptoms of another problem. Instead, they took her to have her tested for the disease, without talking with me or seeing if she even was a candidate to have the test done. A few hours passed, the receptionist called out my name, told me the charges and handed me my dog. No doctor spoke with me about my dog. Not even the next day! The receptionist told me that the doctor who did the test on my dog, no longer works there. I called within the next few days for the doctor in charge and she said the test was negative and that was it. So strange on how everything went. So vague and disorganized.I would have liked her to observe my dog’s symptoms, and ask me questions about my dog and tell me what she thought. Determine if I should have had the test done on my dog or if she saw any other underlying conditions that could be causing her discomfort. I am not a doctor, but I thought maybe my dog had Cushings disease, so I took her to the appointment. They just took her, had her tested for Cushings disease because I thought it might be that disease. Then afterwards gave me my dog and charged me a lot of money. I was left hanging with no doctor to see me with my dog. My dog still pees all over my house often. I wish the doctor would have consulted with me. Maybe she could have helped my dog and go a different direction in her care.
Mar 18, 2025 · Connie RalonI had a very disappointing experience at this vet clinic. From the moment the nurse called us back, her attitude was rude and dismissive. She didn’t acknowledge my dog at all—not even a hello or a gentle gesture. Instead, she just bluntly asked, “So what’s going on?” which immediately made me feel uneasy.I was already hesitant about coming here because of the negative reviews, and now I understand why they exist. The staff should be kind and reassuring, especially when dealing with pets and their concerned owners. I would never feel comfortable letting my dog go alone in the back with people who show such little care or compassion.I ultimately decided to walk out before even seeing the doctor. I can’t trust my pet’s care to a place where respect and empathy seem to be lacking. I strongly urge other pet owners to consider this before making an appointment.
May 20, 2025 · Makyla Marie***They say to contact them by email, but after sending two emails with no response, it becomes clear that no one is interested in helping. The service is bad enough, and the lack of support makes it even worse!Extremely disappointed with the service at Banfield Pet Hospital. Despite the fact that they were trying to take a significant amount of money from me, the diagnosis for my dog was inaccurate. It felt like the veterinarians were conducting tests blindly, without any clear direction or consideration for my pet's well-being. I got the impression that they were more interested in getting as much money out of me as possible, rather than providing quality care. If they don't change their approach, I wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone.
May 26, 2025 · OlgaWe had a very good experience with this Banfield location. It was the first time that we have visited a Banfield, and they were able to squeeze us in at the last minute. We had recently adopted a rescue cat, and when we got her home, she became sick. Other vets that I called were at least a week out with open appointments. We went into the store late in the afternoon and spoke with the front desk person, who, despite being very busy, was able to give us an appointment the next day. The visit itself was great, and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Our kitty is doing well now, and we will certainly be using this Banfield for our other pets. To the staff, thank you so much for everything.
