Based on the provided customer reviews and the nature of an emergency veterinary hospital, several key features and highlights can be inferred, showcasing what makes Bay Beach Veterinary Emergency Hospital a notable facility for Virginia Beach residents:
- Emergency and Critical Care Specialization: The hospital's primary focus is on urgent and critical situations, meaning they are equipped and staffed to handle life-threatening conditions. This specialization suggests a higher level of preparedness and expertise for emergencies compared to general practice clinics.
- Compassionate End-of-Life Care: One review specifically highlights the compassionate and professional guidance provided during euthanasia. This indicates a commitment to supporting pet owners through difficult decisions with empathy and dignity, ensuring the pet's comfort and peaceful passing.
- Professional Staff: The review regarding end-of-life care praises the staff's professionalism, empathy, and ability to make an incredibly hard moment more bearable. This suggests a team that is not only medically skilled but also highly considerate of the emotional needs of pet owners.
- Dedicated to Pet Comfort: The effort to ensure the puppy was "comfortable and loved" during end-of-life care points to a general philosophy of prioritizing the animal's well-being and reducing distress during their time at the hospital.
It is important to note that the contrasting review highlights a significant concern regarding the perceived financial motivations and lack of alternative solutions offered for treatment. While one review speaks to compassionate care during euthanasia, the other suggests a challenging experience where financial constraints seemed to limit treatment options, leading to an offer of euthanasia without exploring other possibilities, even when asked. This disparity in experiences is a crucial aspect for potential clients to consider and potentially discuss directly with the hospital.

Bay Beach Veterinary Emergency Hospital Reviews
This is the worst pet hospital to ever exist. My dachshund, 6 years old at the time, had fallen down the stairs of our home while we weren’t home because someone who visited had left the stair door open. Coming home, she seemed fine but after a day she began dragging her back legs to which we immediately took her to a pet hospital that was recommended to us. This pet hospital. Coming inside, we were greeted coldly and patiently waited until they would see her. After looking her over, they offered a 10k+ treatment, which we could not afford at the time, or to EUTHANIZE HER? Because apparently she would get a UTI and “eventually pass away anyway”. We denied them, took our pup and left. We nursed back to health at home, helping her pee and poop outside because she couldn’t do it herself, and purchased her a wheel chair online. A month later, as soon as the wheel chair arrived, SHE BEGAN WALKING ON HER BACK LEGS AGAIN. Therefore, this place, since we could not pay the money, they would rather put down our puppy than offer different methods of helping her even after we asked. Absolutely disgusting, they don’t even care about the dogs, just the money. I get it, it’s your job, but these are our pets that are apart of my family and you just offered her death for absolutely nothing. The picture below is our beautiful pup now doing great and very happy!

Apr 03, 2025 · Rich LinehanThe staff here at Bay Beach on Nimmo are so compassionate. Every time we called to tell them we had an emergency and were on the way, they let us know that they would be ready for our arrival. They were very thoughtful and understanding about what we wanted for our pet. They were so kind until the very end. They let us have time with our dog. I can never thank them enough for their patience. Thank you so much to everyone here…
Apr 16, 2025 · kimberly jeansI'm utterly shocked to read so many terrible reviews for this group of lovely professionals. Last night, New Year's Day, my OG, my true ride or die, my bestest bud needed help.. she was dying suddenly at home. I called in an utter panic and the lovely gal who answered the phone was 💯 compassionate and helpful.. she told me to bring my baby in and they would help her. We arrived and everyone rushed out to help.. took her back to the emergency room and quickly determined what I already knew. Tess was dying. The vet, wish I could remember her name, told me I had made the right choice and allowed me to love on my girl while she pushed the meds to get her comfortable while she crossed the rainbow bridge. They didn't rush us. They explained everything and they charged us a more than reasonable and fair price for a middle of the night emergency visit on a holiday! I will recommend this team to anyone and everyone. I am a hospice nurse so I know what people need when they are loosing someone they love and this team have that to my husband and I - we are so appreciative. We are devastated by our loss but we were comforted by the care we and Tess received. Thank you to the team working on New Year's in the middle of the night when we needed you the most! Sincerely- Tess' mom and dad!
Jan 02, 2025 · Heather RiesIt was heart breaking to need their services, but I'm grateful that they were available to help us in our tragic after hours emergency. They were quick and kind in their care to our dog and to us. They gave us as much time as we needed to make tough decisions and to allow time for our family to drive and in say good bye to our boy. They even had a jar of good bye kisses, so our dog could enjoy chocolate before he crossed the rainbow bridge. Plus, later on they sent us a hand written card to send condolences and sweet nose and paw prints of our boy. Grateful for such thoughtful care especially during this awful time.Only improvement I would make to our experience was to have an option for payment plans for larger services. This was an unexpected event and it was extremely challenging to make such a large investment upfront.
