Caledonia Veterinary Clinic is distinguished by its knowledgeable staff and comprehensive offerings. The reviews from clients, while mixed, offer valuable insights into the practice. One client praises the clinic highly, noting that the staff is "courteous and helpful" and that the veterinarian is "very knowledgeable and friendly." This reviewer was "very glad" to have found the clinic, noting that the rates were "surprisingly reasonable" compared to other clinics they had used. This positive feedback highlights the clinic's ability to provide a high level of care while maintaining affordable rates, a significant factor for many pet owners. However, a more critical review points to a deeply emotional and frustrating experience during the euthanasia of a pet. This client expressed significant dissatisfaction with the waiting time and the cost of the service, stating that their "heart was already broken" and the long wait was "not good care." The client felt "way overcharged" for the service and was disappointed by the lack of speed and sensitivity during such a difficult time. This feedback, while negative, highlights a key challenge for any veterinary practice: balancing efficiency with compassionate, personalized care during sensitive moments. It shows that while the clinic may excel in its day-to-day operations and routine care, the emotional aspects of veterinary medicine are just as important to clients. The contrasting reviews paint a picture of a clinic that is highly skilled and personable for routine visits but may have opportunities to improve its process for handling emotionally charged situations. It demonstrates that the clinic has a dedicated and knowledgeable staff, but that the overall client experience can vary based on the specific circumstances of the visit.

For Wisconsin residents, choosing Caledonia Veterinary Clinic is a worthwhile decision for several compelling reasons. The clinic's ability to provide a wide range of services for both small and large animals is a major benefit, making it a one-stop-shop for pet and horse owners in the area. Their expertise in equine medicine is particularly valuable for the local agricultural community. The positive review underscores their professional, knowledgeable, and friendly approach, as well as their surprisingly reasonable rates. This combination of quality and affordability is a significant draw. However, the negative feedback, while difficult, also offers insight. It reminds prospective clients that while a clinic may be skilled, the human connection and emotional support are equally important, especially during challenging times. It is a reminder to all pet owners that they should consider not just the medical capabilities of a clinic, but also its approach to client care. Ultimately, for those seeking a clinic with extensive medical and surgical capabilities, as well as a friendly staff, Caledonia Veterinary Clinic presents a strong option. It is a place that can handle a wide variety of medical needs and offers a high level of expertise that is crucial for the well-being of the diverse animal population in southeastern Wisconsin.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I just had to put my cat down and I wanna say now that I’m thinking clearly $425 for a 8lb cat to be euthanized is a bit much . Also my appointment was for 11am , I had to wait 45 minutes waiting in the room hearing the silly conversation with the other client in next room for an ear infection. Not pleased, my heart was already broken for my sweet animal and then to have to wait that long was not good care. I have been to other veterinary clinics to have my animals put down and they get you in and quickly get you through the process. I called around after to other veterinary offices and I believe I was way over charged. Not happy at all with the time it took or the price. Vet is very personable and I want to have a good review but I just feel I had to say something.
June 04 · Keri schueGreat Clinic. Staff is courteous and helpful and the Dr is very knowledgeable and friendly. Everyone there made sure my dog and I were as comfortable and informed as possible, and their rates were surprisingly reasonable compared to other clinics we've used. Very glad I found this place!
March 01 · Nicholas BlazewiczWhere to start.... My 14 week old French Bulldog puppy had surgery to remove a potentially cancerous tumor on her chin and the "service" I received surrounding this surgery was appalling to say the least. When my husband and I picked up our puppy in the afternoon following surgery we walked in and the receptionist did not call the Doctor or Tech to explain how the surgery went and when I asked questions about how to take care of the stitches and the pain meds he was reluctant to ask someone to come out to talk to us. Finally the tech (not the vet.. ps we never saw her at all before or after the surgery) came out to talk to us and it was like pulling teeth to get a response from her about how to care for our puppy who just had major surgery. When we got our puppy home and saw horrible the stitching was on her chin I was still trying to give them the benefit of doubt as I know it was a large tumor and there isn't a lot of skin on the chin to stitch... Two days later the stitches opened up completely (on a Sunday) and I had to take my dog into the Emergency Vet. The Emergency Vet told me the Incision line failed and she would have to be put back under anesthesia and be re-stitched (a small puppy with a short nose.. always risky). The Emergency Vet did not have a surgeon on staff that day so they game me more pain meds and an antibiotic and left the wound open so that the next day I could call Dr. Minnis (or another vet) to get her in so that she could be re stitched. When I called Caledonia Vet Clinic that Monday morning the "service" got even better. Dr. Minnis was defensive and rude. She couldn't believe that someone would think her work was less than perfection and she said that the Emergency Vet was unprofessional to criticize her work. She suggested that our puppy scratched her stitches (not true but I totally understand that stitches can open up, they were on her chin and she is a puppy) or that they just opened on their own, miraculously. THEN she told me that she would be happy to have our puppy come back in that day and put her out and re-stitch her however she was GOING OUT OF THE COUNTRY THE NEXT DAY and didn't have time. She said that she wouldn't fit her in or cancel another appointment because she was going on vacation. This is her business isn't it? Wouldn't you want to stay late or fit her in somewhere? This was her patient.... and a 14 week old puppy with a massive, bleeding open wound! She told me she couldn't help me and she didn't have any other options for me but I should call around and see if someone else could re stitch her.I am dumbfounded by the quality of care and service we received. From my observations and experience I think that the service is poor quality and the staff is undertrained.PS we went to another vet and they suggested that we (unfortunately) would let the wound close medically because it is too much of a risk to put her under again.. Our puppy is miserable, uncomfortable, and now will have a massive scar on her face.
August 08 · Stephanie O’DriscollTook my dog in 4 times for an ear infection that never got better that had him in severe pain for months. After 4th time They did an intolerance test to see if it was something he was allergic to etc. they never called me with results, I called 3 times to find out results, and still never got the results of test. Spent a few hundred dollars for his ear to never got better. Took him a to another vet 1 time and within a few days he was better. Maybe she’s good with her regular patients but as a new patient I didn’t feel she cared about my dog, and didn’t appreciate her laughing at him when he was in pain from his ear hurting. Personally to me it just seemed like the vet was all over the place and money hungry.
July 24 · Megan DurhamDr. Mimmus has always been great with my 4 legged babies. Her staff does as well.Hard to get bad news but we know they go above and beyond to do everything to make things right.
