Choosing a veterinary hospital for your pet is a significant decision, and Claws & Paws Veterinary Hospital offers several compelling reasons to be your choice. The most important factor is the combination of professional expertise and a genuine love for animals. When a pet owner feels that the staff truly cares about their animal, it builds a foundation of trust that is priceless. The positive reviews about their speed, professionalism, and comprehensive care show that they are a highly competent clinic for routine and general health needs. For pets requiring wellness exams, dental care, or boarding, Claws & Paws provides a reliable and high-quality service.
However, it is crucial for pet owners to understand the scope of services provided, especially in emergency situations. The review from the Australian Shepherd owner highlights a significant challenge—the emotional and financial stress of a pet emergency and the limitations of a general practice clinic. While Claws & Paws provided initial care (inducing vomiting) and standard advice, the blunt communication and perceived lack of empathy in a moment of crisis were deeply upsetting. This specific experience suggests that for very serious, life-threatening emergencies, a pet owner may need to go directly to a 24/7 emergency animal hospital that is better equipped with medications and specialized staff for critical care. It also underscores the importance of being financially prepared for unexpected vet bills, as many clinics, including Claws & Paws, have strict payment policies.
In summary, Claws & Paws Veterinary Hospital is an excellent choice for general wellness, preventative care, and routine services, as demonstrated by their loyal and satisfied customer base. They are fast, professional, and genuinely caring for most situations. For routine visits and non-critical issues, they offer a great experience. However, for pet owners facing a severe or life-threatening emergency, it is advisable to contact a dedicated emergency animal hospital. By understanding their strengths as a highly professional general practice, Texas residents can make an informed choice and trust Claws & Paws for the majority of their pet's health and wellness needs.

March 14 · David LuccheseYesterday I had brought my Mini Australian shepherd for an emergency walk-in visit…I had been at work and when I got home I found that my dog had grabbed my travel bag off the counter and tore it open ( Literally can’t even use it anymore) and ate a large amount of 500mg Tums and possibly some Tylenol. When I got to the vet and saw the technician AND doctor I showed them the crime bag and all the medication bottles/ pills as requested.. but they didn’t even grab the bag from me to look at the bottles and asked me to look at everything myself to determine how much she took and the milligrams.. OkAfter inducing my dog to throw up, the doctor came in and explained that I needed to take her to an ER and to call poison control to see what our options were, which I couldn’t get ahold of poison control at all!, the doctor then said they didn’t have any of the proper medication to help her there and said they could push fluids but if I had done that then an already $221 bill just for a visit and vomit would have turned into $449 dollars… this place is a very stern with money, they don’t allow next day payments and sadly that’s when my husband and I got paid and so I just couldn’t afford it. Needless to say, the moment my hesitation with additional charges started is when things went downhill and I had been at this walk in visit for 3 hours……After explaining my stressful situation financially to the doctor and telling her that my husband would like me to bring her home and try to make her eat and drink fluids to see if that would help….she gave me a look and gave some standard advice for care when I got home but then she proceeded to tell me that if she dies or if we need to put her down tomorrow then to let her know…very nonchalant and blunt.I understand that the situation was bad and maybe I didn’t seem distraught enough because of how mentally and physically exhausted I was on top of my stress from my dogs actions… but this isn’t the first time the Doctor made a horrible comment without any empathy and when I got to the front desk to pay I started crying and was almost hysterical when I drove away. My baby looked worse when we left compared to how she was when we got there..she was still very aware and walking around and smiling before and when we left she had droll spilling from her mouth due to the vomiting, she couldn’t walk straight and she was exhausted ( VERY different from the standard crazy Aussie energy), she crawled on my lap while driving and fell asleep.I will never come back to this vet :(Doggy update:This morning ( 5:30am) my baby is running around and playing with her ball, she is eating and drinking and even went potty with no complications, she is smiling and very very happy… 😭🙏

October 16 · Sheryl SeidlClaws & Paws has assisted our family with numerous pets over the years. Thank you for your patience and understanding. They have helped with cancer, end of life procedures, cuts and bumps and all the crazy happenings that come with having lots of critters.Definitely would recommend. Staff is polite and friendly. Front desk works to get you in on urgent matters or refer out. Vets and techs are compassionate, caring and competent. Usually offers a range of options for your budget and pet's needs.
April 09 · Kim HattanI have taken both my Beagles here on two separate occasions when I could not get them in at their regular vet. We have received prompt, excellent care. The Dr and staff are very accommodating and personable. I am currently considering switching my Beagles to this vet permanently. Highly recommend!
