★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- We, unfortunately, had to have our 12 year old girl put out of her pain about a week ago and they got her in pretty much right after we called and got there. They thoroughly explained everything and were very helpful and caring throughout the whole process. They let us spend as much time with her as we wanted before and after she passed and were very empathetic and so good to our sweet girl. Thank you all so much for your kindness, compassion, Sammy’s cute nose and paw prints, and for the sweet card you all sent! We very much appreciate you guys making one of our worst days as good as it possibly could be! February 04 · Chelsea Greeson
- Your emergency services saved Willow's life when I feared all hope was lost. Willow and I can’t thank you enough for your quick thinking and expertise. I will be forever grateful that you saved my best friend. Thanks for being our superheroes! March 01 · Angela Davis
- DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT TAKING YOUR PET HERE. Had our dog fighting for his life after dozens of bee stings and front desk lady wouldn’t even get off her phone to acknowledge our presence for at least 5 minutes. As our dog needed immediate treatment we thought they were treating him for an hour in the waiting room but instead they were typing up a bill and proceeded to tell us that our dog was in a kennel in the back and they would not give him anything until we paid the ridiculous amount of overcharge up front but as it was a Sunday night we didn’t have another choice. They then proceeded to tell us that we would get updates through the night but never once reached out. Come first thing Monday morning we pulled him out of there and took him to a more reliable vet who then did what they said they would do and only charged us 15% of what they did. Highly recommended to find somewhere else and save yourself the money and heartache! July 28 · Gavin Schwinn
- Absolutely wonderful staff. So attentive and helpful, as well. I accidentally stepped on my kitty’s front paw. The staff got me in with very little notice on a Sunday afternoon, and a few hours later we were finished and Pippy is on her way to a full recovery. I also appreciate how transparent they are with costs, and how fair their prices are. We’re very fortunate to have an animal hospital like this in Topeka. May 18 · Jason Keller
- Our 6 month old puppy was constantly vomiting, had terrible diarrhea that wouldn't quit, and refused to drink. I called ahead and was told we could bring her in, but to stay in our car with her instead of immediately coming inside because her symptoms could be a sign of parvo. Within minutes, we were there, pulled into a spot, and called the desk again to let them know we arrived. We waited over an hour before someone came to the car to get our info and tell us that they're going to try to get her to eat instead of doing a parvo test right away. A few minutes later, they came out to the car with a parvo test anyway, to the tune of $85. I didn't argue because I assumed someone changed their mind. I assumed that they were really going through it inside, so I wasn't angry AT ALL for the wait or the flip flopping about a parvo test. I can only imagine how busy a Friday night is and wanted to extend some grace. Or at least I wasn't angry until a vet tech named Gabby came outside a few minutes later and literally yelled at us in the most unprofessional manner for allowing our puppy to puke and poo far from the building in the grass. She was sarcastically yelling about the critical patients inside and something about now having to go outside and disinfect the grass even though we took her as far from the building as possible and had been out there for nearly an hour and a half at that point. They literally expected us to wait the entire time in our car and just let our sick puppy cover my entire interior with feces and vomit. We get inside after the parvo test is negative, and then the preliminary exam begins. The person helping us (not Gabby) was very nice, but refused to take our puppy out of the room to weigh her on a regular scale. Instead, she put our 32 lb 14 oz dog on a BABY SCALE, trying to balance her on there. Then, the vet comes in, we explain the entire situation, and it's discussed that our pup might very well have eaten something like a wood chip from our yard. Vet leaves, and vet tech comes back in with a long list of tests and treatments, along with the prices of everything. I appreciated the transparency in pricing, but it literally felt like I was getting my oil changed and they were trying to get me to buy an air filter I didn't need and upgrade my windshield wipers. I saw a lot of other reviews saying that they were nickled and dimed to death. I ignored it because I figured people are often upset about spending so much unplanned money. But now I know *exactly* what they're talking about. Some of these tests seemed incredibly unnecessary considering what we discussed as a possible cause. Then, it turned into a negotiation about what we were willing to pay for and what seemed overboard. In fact, I asked the vet outright if the tests could possibly wait until Monday after we treated her symptoms, and he refused to give me a professional opinion because he said he was afraid of being held liable. Ummmm... your professional opinion is what I was paying an exam fee of $125 for. We took the treatments, let them inject her with saline for hydration, and finally got out of there. I pray we never have to go back because from start to finish, the entire situation was unprofessional and frustrating. I gave them a second star because the treatments seem to be working. But the rest? Yuck. July 12 · Jennifer Joy
