The journey of pet ownership is incredibly rewarding, but it comes with the responsibility of ensuring their well-being. Regular veterinary visits are crucial for maintaining your pet's health, preventing illnesses, and addressing any concerns promptly. A trusted local vet acts as a vital partner in this journey, providing expert guidance, medical knowledge, and unwavering support. The Fort Eustis Veterinary Clinic understands this profound partnership, offering a level of care that goes beyond standard medical treatments. They create an environment where both pets and their owners feel comfortable, understood, and genuinely cared for. For military families, the clinic's understanding of unique circumstances, such as permanent change of station (PCS) moves, is a significant advantage. This specialized support ensures that your pet's health and travel needs are seamlessly managed, allowing for greater peace of mind during often stressful transitions. Having a local veterinary team that is attuned to the specific needs of pets within the Virginia climate and military lifestyle, including regional health considerations and the demands of frequent relocation, provides tailored advice and care plans, ensuring your pet thrives no matter where duty calls.
The Fort Eustis Veterinary Clinic is conveniently located at 576 Jefferson Ave, Fort Eustis, VA 23604, USA. Situated directly on Fort Eustis, this location offers unparalleled accessibility for service members and their families living on post or in the surrounding areas. Jefferson Avenue is a key thoroughfare within the installation, making the clinic incredibly easy to find and reach. This on-base convenience is a significant advantage, reducing travel time and the stress associated with navigating off-post traffic, particularly crucial during routine appointments or in urgent situations. Ample parking is readily available, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free arrival for you and your pet. The clinic's position within the military installation underscores its primary mission of providing care for military working dogs (MWDs) as well as the personally owned animals of the military community. Its strategic placement allows quick access for those who work or reside on base, embodying a commitment to accessible and reliable pet care right where it's needed most for our military families in Virginia.
Fort Eustis Veterinary Clinic offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, primarily serving government-owned animals, including military working dogs, and extending valuable routine care to the personally owned pets of military families. Their mission encompasses ensuring the health and welfare of these vital animals, with a strong focus on preventative measures and addressing common health concerns. Services available include, but are not limited to:
- Routine Wellness and Preventive Care: This foundational aspect of pet health includes essential services such as vaccinations to protect against common diseases, wellness checks to monitor overall health, and regular lab tests for early detection of issues. They also emphasize prevention of zoonotic diseases, which can be transmitted between animals and humans.
- Health and Wellness Checks: Comprehensive examinations to assess your pet's general health, catch potential problems early, and provide guidance on maintaining optimal well-being.
- Laboratory Services: In-house lab capabilities to run various tests, including fecal samples to test for parasites like roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms, which are important for both pet and human health.
- Shots and Immunizations: Administration of necessary vaccines to ensure pets are protected against preventable illnesses, crucial for both individual pet health and public health.
- Assistance with Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Pet Documentation: A standout service for military families, the clinic is "very accommodating for my husband and I pcsing and getting the right documents ready for travel." This specialized support is invaluable for ensuring pets meet all requirements for domestic and international travel, alleviating a significant source of stress for military personnel.
- Medication Dispensing: The ability to provide necessary medications, ensuring pets receive proper treatment for various conditions.
- Limited Surgical Procedures for Personally Owned Animals: While their primary mission includes surgical capabilities for Military Working Dogs, they also have the ability to perform some basic surgical procedures, such as spaying and neutering pets, for personally owned animals. For emergency or extensive care, they typically refer to full-service civilian veterinary hospitals due to limited manpower and resources.
- Cost-Effective Care: As a military facility, the clinic aims to provide services at costs typically set below market rates, offering a significant financial benefit to service members and their families.
It is important for pet owners to note that while they offer a wide range of routine and preventive services, for complex emergencies or extensive care, civilian veterinary hospitals may be recommended due to the clinic's specific mission and resource allocation. However, for everyday wellness and crucial military family-specific needs like PCS documentation, they are an indispensable resource.
What truly sets Fort Eustis Veterinary Clinic apart and makes it an exceptional choice for pet owners in the Virginia military community are its distinct features and highlights that underscore their commitment to accommodating, professional, and compassionate care:

Fort Eustis Veterinary Clinic Reviews
Fort Eustis Veterinary Clinic has been one of the most phenomenal vet experiences I have ever had. They have been very accommodating for my husband and I pcsing and getting the right documents ready for travel. The staff is absolutely amazing and understanding. They are very gentle and caring with our dog and very professional over all.
Sep 20, 2024 · Rachel BresieThe staff are just wonderful with pets, my dog was treated with love and care that she came back relaxed and happy.
Mar 16, 2021 · Marco AlvaresIt would be better to just find an off post clinic to establish care with. The on post clinic is short staffed and will not be able to care for your pets. Found this out the hard way after being giving the ring around for 2 weeks of if they could do repeat X-rays on my pup. Was left scrambling to find another vet on short notice and a holiday week. Very frustrating.
Nov 23, 2021 · Alicia HaaseWe’re PCSing overseas and we had no idea what to do for the FAVN test and planning. We have 4 pets. Let me just tell you, this clinic was not only helpful with answers, they went out of their way to ensure we get all of the requirements met in proper time!!I can’t thank them enough for going the extra mile and educating us while taking great care of our fur babies!PS- one of our cats is no fun in the vet office if you know what I mean. But they handled him with love and minimized his stress!! So grateful!
Jun 06, 2022 · Roniesha BlaylockGreat team that is short staffed trying to make it happen. The front office staff is super busy so please be patient when trying to call. We look forward to being our pet here for all their veterinary needs.
