Heart's Ease Veterinary Care Reviews
It has taken us a few weeks to get our bearings straight on writing this review… But we would be remiss if we didn’t take the time to do so. On February 15, our sweet and beautiful Caramel crossed over the rainbow bridge. We enlisted the help of heartsease veterinary care during her last week. When you treat pets like members of the family, like we do, it is imperative that you do the best for them, especially at end of life. At 16 years old, Caramel had been deteriorating for months and we were acutely aware that her life was wrapping up, but we needed to be informed and at peace with the decision-making that goes with this chapter. It is so easy to be in a bubble and feel immobilized in making decisions for a family pet. You can keep hoping and praying that things will turn around… and it leads to just second-guessing yourself. We reached out to Dr. Courtney Bennett at Hearts Ease Veterinary Care for a comprehensive conversation about quality of life. She reviewed medical records, poured over notes that we had provided to her, and then conducted an hour long conversation with us where we stepped through every aspect of Caramel‘s health and where we were currently with her deterioration. Our main concern was being prepared to make an end-of-life decision and being at peace with it. The bottom line… we did not want to have any regrets and we didn’t want to second-guess our decision after the fact.Dr. Bennett deals with end of life and pet owners every day. So she’s able to educate and inform while being deeply respectful of how personal all of this truly is. She helped to get us out of our heart and into our head regarding making decisions for our sweet girl. She recommended that we do a round of imaging so that we might get some answers as to why she was going downhill so quickly. We proceeded with getting imaging from Veterinary Specialiat Partnersin Louisville, who were also phenomenal in their care. Even though we did get quite a few answers, within 24 hours Caramel had a severe change in condition. Because of the previous conversation with Courtney, we knew we were seeing pain and suffering… There was no longer a decision to be made. We reached out to Courtney and she rearranged her Saturday to come to our home. We will never be able to thank her enough for acting so quickly. You know you’re dealing with a special veterinarian when they walk into your front door, take off their shoes and then sit on the floor to play with all of your animals and dish out treats from their pockets. We were immediately at peace. We were able to give Caramel a beautiful passing thanks to Dr. Bennett’s help. All of our dogs sat with her in front of the fireplace as Courtney provided at home euthanasia. This is THE worst part of having animals that you love so deeply… but we couldn’t have done it any better for our girl. The next day we received an email from Courtney checking in on us and a few days later a beautiful handwritten note.It is my hope that we will be able to give this type of passing to all of our other dogs. We are forever in debt to Dr. Bennett’s for her expertise and gentle nature while taking care of our sweet girl during that chapter. If you have a senior pet begin to think about how you will handle their final chapter. I am so glad that we made contact with Hearts Ease and that they partnered with us for this very difficult chapter. We are forever grateful.

Feb 14, 2025 · Jennifer RiceCori and Courtney definitely made a very difficult situation as easy and comfortable as possible. They were able to make an appointment within 48 hours of calling, and were very responsive and thorough. Courtney was so kind and compassionate, and it felt like we had a friend in our home taking care of us. You can tell within 30 seconds how much both Cori and Courtney care about their job. And as caring as Courtney was towards Jack, she was just as compassionate towards my partner and myself.I greatly hope I don't have to use their services for many, many years, but if I do, I know who to call.Thank you both so much.
Feb 18, 2025 · Zephan SchroederWe had to say goodbye to our sweet 9 y/o Aussie just this week. He was our baby, our first baby and the center of our world. His illness came on fast and we had to make hard decisions quickly. We are so relieved we chose Heart’s Ease to say goodbye to our baby. I had a few conversations with Cori, the coordinator, and she was beyond compassionate and delicate while talking through such difficult decisions. We met Dr. Bennett the day we said goodbye. My husband and I were both so scared but as soon as she got there (and got right down on our fur covered floors to greet our dog) we immediately felt comforted and reassured we were making the right decision. She was so compassionate and easy to talk to during the most difficult time of my life. She made the whole process as easy as it can be. We will never forget her.I wondered how anyone can do a job like this, but I figure it must be fulfilling knowing the lasting impact she’s having on families. We got to say goodbye to our sweet boy in our home, in our bed where he felt safest and happiest. That is a privilege I’m so glad Heart’s Ease could grant us.
May 08, 2025 · Kimberly BarmoreMy elderly dog got an unexpected and somewhat shocking diagnosis after ja day or so of feeling 'off' and unlike herself. I really wanted to be able to ease her transition at home and not at the emergency vet. Heart's Ease managed to fit me in into a crowded schedule (during a holiday week!). They were amazingly compassionate and professional. They brought both my dog and myself peace. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
