Hoboken Animal Hospital, like any long-standing establishment, has features and highlights that resonate differently with various pet owners.
- Comprehensive Full-Service Care: A major highlight is their claim to be a "full service companion animal hospital." This indicates their capacity to handle a wide range of needs, from routine preventive care and vaccinations to advanced medical treatments, diagnostics, and surgical procedures, including dental work, X-rays, and even boarding and grooming. This comprehensive approach means pet owners may not need to seek multiple providers for different services.
- Commitment to Lifelong Care: The hospital states its commitment to providing quality veterinary care "throughout the life of your pet," focusing on routine care for young pets, early detection for aging pets, and complete medical and surgical care as needed. This long-term partnership approach can be reassuring for pet owners.
- Compassionate and Client-Focused Philosophy: The hospital emphasizes its dedication to becoming a "partner in your pet's health care" and treating pets "as we would our own." They aim to practice high-quality medicine with compassion and an emphasis on client education, ensuring personal attention to each pet owner's unique concerns. Positive reviews specifically praise the staff as "always caring" and the front desk staff as "especially great."
- Responsive Communication and Follow-up: At least one long-term client noted that the hospital is "always caring, respond right away, follow up with me." This level of consistent communication and proactive follow-up is highly valued by pet owners, indicating attentiveness to both the pet's well-being and the owner's concerns.
- Reasonable Pricing (as perceived by some): One long-term client explicitly states that "pricing isn't exorbitant," suggesting that for some, the cost of services is perceived as fair and accessible.
- Modern Convenience: The availability of an online booking system and a mobile app (PetDesk) for appointments, refills, and records demonstrates a move towards modern convenience, which is a plus for busy New Jersey residents.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge that experiences can vary significantly. One review describes a highly negative experience, citing a perceived lack of genuine care, a sole focus on "making money," and alleged unethical practices, such as refusing to see a sick dog for days, requiring emergency vet visits, and enforcing high prices for medication refills that could be sourced cheaper elsewhere. This review also mentions that "the good doctors have left," suggesting a potential decline in perceived quality by some clients. These conflicting reviews highlight that while some pet owners have had positive, long-term relationships with the hospital, others have experienced significant frustration regarding accessibility during emergencies and what they perceive as financially driven decisions.

This suggests that while the hospital aims to provide comprehensive and compassionate care, individual experiences may vary. For locals, this means weighing the convenience and broad range of services against these specific concerns. For some, Hoboken Animal Hospital will be the ideal long-term partner for their pet's health, offering consistent and reliable care. For others, it may warrant a more cautious approach, perhaps by discussing specific policies, especially around emergency access and prescriptions, before fully committing. Ultimately, its suitability for you will depend on your individual priorities and expectations for veterinary care in our New Jersey community.

Hoboken Animal Hospital Reviews
Unethical. All they care about is making money. They don't care about your pet. If they did,, they would have seen my dog when she hadn't eaten for 4 days instead of making me go to the emergency vet and paying 1800.00. They would let me fill the heartworm prevention at a different pharmacy instead of making me pay 3 times as much or leaving my dog without medication. The good doctors have left. I won't be returning.
