★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- We appreciate the quality care that we have received from the vet. However, the receptionist at the front desk is rude, condescending, impatient and emotionally immature. Her answers are incomplete, unclear and devoid of empathy. She reacts with hostility towards customers who need clear communication and reassurance. She is arrogant and explosive when challenged. She makes up excuses and only answers the phone when she feels like it. She actually blame shifts the customer. She has very poor communication and social skills, very unprofessional. - I thought I finally found a good place to take my cats who I love so very much! At first I thought they were wonderful, up until recently. I spent well over 1000 dollars at this place for this one cat. I had to take her to another vet to find out she has a massive cancerous tumor in her skull aggressively eating at the bones in her face, jaw, eye socket, and sinuses. I took my Angel who is at least 20 years old in I want to say May for the first time. Ended up taking her in 6 to 7 more times after that. The first time they said she needed dental surgery to remove rotten teeth. They did that. They made me give her vaccines which at her age and being indoor she didn't need! She never got better but got worse. I proceeded to bring her in multiple times after that. They gave her medication that never helped her at all. Said it was from the infection in her mouth and teeth and she would get better with time and just needed different medication They put her on the same medication 2 times i said wasn't working at all to help her. I asked for a stronger medication, they said there wasn't a stronger medication they could have gave her. Found out later there was a stronger medication. I kept saying is it this, could it be that including cancer. They took blood work and x-rays of her face. Yet they didn't see that her whole one side of her skull/face and more was being ate by cancer and there was a massive tumor. Her teeth were being ate away by the cancer, she didnt need dental surgery. She went through that for nothing! The new vet i took her to in one visit immediately looking at her said I can tell she has a tumor/cancer but let's do an x-rays. And that was exactly what the problem was. They said my Angel was in a tremendous excruciating amount of pain, and had been for months! They got there money and let my cat suffer all this time. Called them and all they had were excuses and didn't seem to care that they were negligent and caused my cat suffering and over charge me money. Who knows if caught sooner they might have been able to do something to save her but now it is way to advanced! My poor Angel now is scheduled to be put to sleep to end her suffering! One of the hardest things I have ever had to do! I'm spending a couple days with her before I have to go through with ending her life. My new vet gave her pills to help her pain! But animal lake hospital prolonged her pain for months! They also deleted my pets from the pet desk app, all there records and so on! Highly do not recommend this vet. Go to the vet in Lake View, IA. It is an hour drive for me but I am willing to do it for quality care for my fur babies! July 17 · Brandi Wink
- Subject: Severe Decline in Service & Concerning Price Gouging - Changed Vets After 5+ YearsAfter being a loyal client for over 5 years, I made the difficult decision to switch veterinary clinics due to a significant deterioration in service and alarming pricing practices. My experience highlights serious concerns for other pet owners:1. Chronic Unreturned Calls & Excuses:On three separate occasions, I left messages requesting callbacks and received no response for days (once waiting 3 days intentionally).Follow-up calls were met with dismissive excuses ("I was on vacation," "the other receptionist handled it"). Shockingly, when I called about a missed callback, they claimed "no record" of not returning my phone call – yet somehow had a same-day appointment available. Reliability is essential in pet care.2. Exorbitant & Unexplained Price Increases:This is critical: My dog's thyroid medication skyrocketed from $12 for a 3-month supply to an astonishing $52. My *New* veterinarian confirmed this price is outrageousand completely unjustified for standard medication. They did comfirm prices have gone up but not that extreme.Comparative costs are stark: A recent ear infection appointment(exam + medication) at my new vet cost $62. The same treatment at this former clinic was way more by comparison. This suggests systemic overcharging.3. Medical Records Deleted from PetDesk:Before switching, I did screenshot my animals shot records. I then discovered my pets’ medical records were deleted from the PetDesk app. I urge all clients to SCREENSHOT their pets’ full medical history immediately to protect themselves. Transitions should be seamless; this felt punitive.4. Unprofessional Conduct When Challenged:When I raised concerns, staff became rude, hung up on me, and then called back minutes later to what awkwardly "start over." Paying clients deserve respect and accountability, not gamesmanship. Conclusion & Warning:The clinic I once trusted now has an almost entirely unfamiliar staff (save one vet), and the culture shift is evident in both service and ethics. The drastic, unexplained medication price increase alone is a severe breach of trust. But love the excuse that prices haven't changed since 2016?!?! Combined with the ignored calls, deleted records, and unprofessional behavior, it's clear why I left. I strongly caution other pet owners: Be vigilant about documenting everything (calls, records, prices), question unexplained costs, and consider alternatives. Management urgently needs to address these operational and ethical failures. July 02 · Samantha Wadle
