Yo's Aquarium Reviews
I used to love this place. I spent over $200 here on fish, shrimp, snails, and plants. I came back again and again, excited like a kid. But over time, everything I bought here died — even though I followed all the care instructions. I was told it was because of a fish I brought from Petco. So I trusted them completely and only bought from them after that — including a bichir I loved dearly. Every week I came for feeder fish, but they often brought infections. I cleaned and treated my tank multiple times, but eventually my bichir died too. I was heartbroken.I went back to the store for help and brought the fish. The younger employee tried to comfort me — he’s always been kind and respectful. But the older man (possibly the owner, Yo) was cold, rude, and dismissive, like always. From day one, he treated me like I didn’t belong. This time he said “I don’t know,” refused to help, and then refused to sell me anything, telling me to go to Petco. He raised his voice and acted like I was the problem. This shop has great fish, but terrible attitude from someone in charge. I won’t be back — and I’m truly heartbroken after everything I’ve put into this hobby.

Jan 19, 2025 · Ëmiłiano xxThe owner said s a true Master of his Aquarium craft. Always pleasant, knowledgeable and honest. His staff is well trained and always happy. He comes across incredibly rare and unique species; including the elusive Red and Blue killifish. As a 40yr enthusiast myself, this is the BEST aquarium in Los Angeles, hands down, for any level of aquarium hobbyist.
May 15, 2025 · Brian Nyilas (Gonzo World)Yo’s aquarium is an honest business. The owner seems to have a lot of experience in the industry and as such comes across straight forward which I appreciate. He doesn’t try to over sell, if he feels like you don’t need a product he won’t push it and advise only what you need. The prices are to be expected from a small business so please be patient. All of the fish looked exceptionally healthy for pet store animals. As a first time goldfish mom he didn’t make me feel stupid.
