Lakeside Veterinary Clinic Reviews
We took our dog in for what we suspected was a urinary tract infection. Our dog ended up being diagnosed with diabetes, by Dr. Scranton through a urinalysis. No treatment options or explanation how the diagnosis was determined, were provided after the appointment. We decided to take our dog to an emergency vet due to worsening symptoms (incontinence, lethargy) since we were worried about getting her on insulin as soon as possible. We took her to the emergency vet in Syracuse and they performed a blood test, and urinalysis which didn’t support the diabetes diagnosis. She was however, diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. I would stay far away from this vet’s office, if you care about proper diagnoses for your pets. Us, as two lay people knew what the problem was better than this supposed “professional” who misdiagnosed our dog with a serious illness, that or she was acting maliciously. What if we had given her insulin? What then? It’s absolutely unacceptable. Please stay away if you value the lives of your pets! The only service I’d trust this vet with is euthanasia.
May 05, 2025 · Buddy SpurgeonI’ve been taking my dog to this veterinary clinic for 14 years and have always trusted the care she received. Recently, I brought my dog in for what I suspected was a UTI. I shared my concerns when making the appointment, and a urinalysis was ordered. During the appointment, without any further testing or explanation, I was told she had diabetes. I was given no education on canine diabetes, no discussion of next steps, symptoms to watch for, or potential complications like diabetic ketoacidosis. I was also told that my parents — who are not her primary caretakers — could follow up in a week.My concerns were dismissed, and I left after a very brief visit with no answers. Over the next two days, my dog’s condition rapidly worsened. After doing my own research and suspecting she might be entering DKA, I rushed her to an emergency vet. There, they did thorough testing and diagnosed her with a severe UTI — not diabetes.Had I administered insulin based on the initial diagnosis, the consequences could have been fatal. Had I waited a week to follow up, her condition could have deteriorated even further. Between Friday and Sunday, I spent over $1,300 on emergency care, supplies, and medication — and endured an extremely stressful and emotional experience.I am sharing this to caution others. This was a serious misdiagnosis that put my dog’s life at risk. I hope this encourages more thorough communication and diagnostic care moving forward, especially in cases involving complex or life-threatening conditions.
May 05, 2025 · Tess KlossnerTook all 3 of my dogs there i called a week and made a appointment for tomorrow because I got a new puppy who has diarrhea with absolutely no other symptoms now 24hrs before the apt i get a call saying she is not taking any new patients HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL NOT RECOMMENDED
Jun 13, 2025 · Jeff WondersDr Cecilia and staff are very knowledgeable and caring for my small dog. They were recommended highly when I asked for a good vet and I'm happy to say the same.
Oct 11, 2019 · Eleanor StantonI recently transferred care of my 10 year old Bichon to Lakeside vet clinic after losing his brother to an after hours emergency. It was during that emergency that I learned our former vet did not offer after hours emergency care. He died minutes after we arrived in Burlington.Following this tragedy, I made it my mission to find a practice that would be available in our time of need, even it it was a Sunday at 3 in the afternoon. After calling around to various local vet practices, I realized not many offer this service these days.Luckily, my son and daughter in law recommended this practice in Tupper Lake. They have used this clinic for several years and are satisfied pet owners. We have had our first appointment to establish care and the intake exam was very thorough. The staff was professional in every way. At the end of the visit, I felt we had made the right choice with this practice. The best part of this is that I have piece of mind that if something happens to our dog after normal business hours, I will be able to reach the veterinarian and be seen if needed.
