Features and Highlights

This is a significant distinction, as only a small percentage of North American veterinary hospitals achieve this status, meaning the hospital adheres to the association's highest standards of care in areas like diagnostics, surgical protocols, patient care, and facility management.
- Experienced and Growing Team: The practice was originally founded by Dr. Dyer in 1994 and has since grown to include co-owner Dr. Sarah Golladay and additional associate veterinarians. This allows the hospital to be staffed with multiple veterinarians on any given day, ensuring comprehensive and consistent care.
- State-of-the-Art Facility: The 7,500-square-foot facility is designed to support the highest standard of surgical, medical, and diagnostic care, featuring advanced veterinary imaging technology and dedicated hospital areas.
- Compassionate and Personal Approach: The team prioritizes the relationships they build with clients and their pets, aiming to provide personal attention and a welcoming experience where pets are often recognized by name. This focus on communication and empathy is a recurring theme in client testimonials.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I moved to a new area and was trying to find a kind vet for my older dog. The vet cinched my elderly dogs front leg leg to the table as tight as a tourniquet I use to draw blood on people! They were unnecessarily rough with him and he has been limping since the encounter last week. I had to take him to a kind and caring vet where they prescribed him an anti-inflammatory for 5 days due to him limping and the swelling to his front left leg. After I stopped the physical abuse the vet had the audacity to say, "Maybe you should go back to your old vet". I have NEVER experienced such hostility and roughness at ANY vets office besides this one. I will NOT be returning and warn anyone to be physically present and mindful of how they are handling your animals. April 22 · Amanda Livengood
- We started taking our dogs to Lakewood Animal Hospital about 3 years ago because of our groomer there, Julie Schroeder. Julie does a great job with our dogs. Since they were becoming “seniors” I wanted to start having them evaluated& treated more proactively & with more attention than they’d been receiving at our previous vet who was much more inexpensive but also did a high volume and not much preventative care. Dr Sarah Golladay has seen them ever since & we so appreciate her expertise & compassionate treatment. She worked hard to diagnose & effectively treat our ShiTzu mix Pancho for a chronic GI condition & was so compassionate at the end of his life in October. She’s treated our Boston Terrier mix Sophie for cancer & a chronic eye condition & referred us to a wonderful eye specialist. She saved Sophie’s life & our Dachshund Nate’s life this summer after they ingested a toxic substance. She’s called on weekends & after hours to check on them and give test results. She’s so thorough and caring. They’re definitely not the cheapest place to go but they’ve always given me an accurate estimate of charges and given me the option to choose what to do. And the techs and office staff are wonderful! March 08 · V Carrillo
- Love Lakewood Animal!! Dr. Eyler is so thorough and puts a lot of care into each visit. She recently treated one of my dogs for an ear infection and the other one for a dog bite. She sent both home with detailed instructions on how to care for them while they recovered. Both of our dogs love seeing Stephen when they go for boarding. You can just tell all the staff truly cares about your animals!! May 19 · Savannah Pritchard
- After a day of surgery, Dr. Stelzer carried our fur baby around for 30 minutes after she was waking up from her teeth cleaning. How sweet and caring! All of the staff have been amazing, including their grooming service. September 03 · Ma Sa
