The Monroe Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic specializes in critical services aimed at reducing pet overpopulation and promoting basic animal health. While primarily focused on spay/neuter procedures, they also offer key preventative services to complement these surgeries. It's important to note that many of these additional services are typically provided at the time of surgery or during scheduled Wellness Days.
- Spay/Neuter Surgeries: This is their core service, offering low-cost sterilization for both dogs and cats. These procedures are vital for preventing unwanted litters, and they also contribute to pets' long-term health by reducing the risk of certain cancers and behavioral problems.
- Rabies Vaccinations: A mandatory public health vaccination, often provided at the time of surgery for eligible pets.
- DHPP Vaccinations: Also known as distemper, this core vaccine protects dogs from several common and potentially fatal diseases. It is offered during surgery or wellness visits.
- Heartworm Testing: An important diagnostic test for dogs to detect the presence of heartworm disease, often offered at the time of surgery.
- FeLV/FIV Testing: Essential testing for cats to screen for Feline Leukemia Virus and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, usually provided during surgical appointments.
- Microchipping: A crucial service for pet identification, increasing the chances of reuniting lost pets with their families. This service is available at the time of surgery.
- Wellness Days: These scheduled days allow clients to bring their pets for low-cost vaccinations, testing, and preventative care without necessarily undergoing surgery. This expansion of services, added in 2015, has welcomed over 40,650 wellness visits, demonstrating the community's need for accessible basic veterinary care.
It is important to note that the clinic focuses on these specific services to maintain affordability and efficiency, and they may not offer comprehensive diagnostic or treatment services beyond what is listed.

- Commitment to Affordability: Being a "Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic" directly addresses a significant barrier to responsible pet ownership. Their mission to reduce pet overpopulation by making these essential services financially accessible is a cornerstone of their operation.
- Part of the Humane Society of Union County: This affiliation reinforces their non-profit status and their broader dedication to animal welfare, often stemming from shelter recommendations, as seen with Benji's adoption and subsequent care.
- Streamlined Appointment Process: Recognizing the high volume of calls they receive (200-600 per day), they have implemented an online appointment request form, which aims to provide a response within 24 business hours, making scheduling more convenient for busy individuals.
- Proven Track Record: With tens of thousands of surgeries performed since 2011 and thousands of wellness visits, the clinic has a strong history of effective and impactful service to the community.

Jun 06, 2025 · Kathy YoungOur Girl Frannie recently visited Monroe low cost spay and neuter to have her spayed. The entire staff is welcoming , informative reassuring and professional. Frannie is fairly new to us and she completely shuts down mentally and physically in stressful situations . The staff was extremely attentive to Frannie in her recovery of anesthesia as she was very slow to wake and needed additional support throughout the day all the while communicating to us what was happening. The staff answered every question we had and were just wonderful. Without hesitation we would definitely recommend Monroe low cost spay and neuter. Frannie is also our second dog that has visited there as they were fabulous with our first girl there Betty last year.

She had a very smooth recovery and was doing very well with the medications they prescribed after the surgery.
