Oliver Animal Hospital Introduce
For long-time residents of Austin, Texas, who have had their share of veterinary experiences, finding a clinic that consistently delivers on its promises of kindness and expertise is a true gem. Oliver Animal Hospital, located on West William Cannon Drive, has been a staple in the community for years, serving a generation of pets and their owners. This hospital is known for its team of dedicated professionals, led by Dr. Oliver, who are passionate about providing compassionate, comprehensive care for dogs and cats. They have built a reputation for being a reliable and trusted partner in pet health, a place where the love for animals is palpable and the commitment to their well-being is unwavering.
The hospital's long-standing positive reputation is highlighted by a review from a couple who has been with them for "34 years living in Austin." They described Dr. Oliver and her staff as "the best veterinarians we have had," praising them as "the kindest and most experienced group of professionals we have encountered." This type of long-term loyalty and trust, built over decades and through the care of "7 cats and 8 dogs," speaks volumes about the quality of care and the strength of the relationships the hospital builds with its clients. For many locals, Oliver Animal Hospital is more than just a place for vet visits; it's a family institution.
However, it is important to provide a balanced overview of the clinic, as feedback from other customers can offer different perspectives. A more recent customer who visited with their large Great Pyrenees described a mixed experience. While they praised the "great" veterinarian for being "kind and thorough," they noted that the antibacterial spray prescribed for their dog's skin infection didn't seem to help, and a different product from another vet worked better. This same customer also mentioned some concerns about the professionalism of the technicians, noting that they "seemed to be upset with me for some reason." They also pointed out a significant issue related to consent and billing, stating that the hospital added on services "without my knowledge." They paid for the services because the dog needed them, but found the practice "very unprofessional/strange." This highlights the importance of clear communication and obtaining consent before performing services.

Oliver Animal Hospital Reviews
These folks are the best veterinarians we have had for our dogs and cats during our 34 years living in Austin. They are kindest and most experienced group of professionals we have encountered. Dr. Oliver and her excellent staff have been those we absolutely trust we the care of our 7 cats and 8 dogs that have been our much loved companions over most of those years.
May 29, 2021 · Jerald CrosbyI've been to this Vet a couple of times with my Great Pyrenees when I moved into the Oak Hill area. The first couple of visits were great, my dog had a skin infection and he was prescribed antibacterial spray. I actually had to come back several times for a refill because the bottle was very small and he's quite large. A couple of times when I was picking up medicine the techs seemed to be upset with me for some reason, I'm not sure why considering the short formal conversations we have when I drop my dog off and pick him up outside. Professionalism wasn't really in the atmosphere when speaking with anyone who was not the veterinarian. The vet is really great though, she was kind and thorough when asking questions or explaining anything to do with my pup.The anti-bacterial spray, which I had gotten 2-3 refills on never really helped my dog, and after the third refill with them I figured I would try out another vet. The antibacterial foam from the other vet worked great, and the infection was gone in under a week.I recommend this veterinarian for an emergency situation, but not regular care.I read some other reviews about this vet performing care on animals before asking the owners permission, and I have to say that is accurate. My first visit I asked what type of services would be performed and the cost I would be expecting, but at the end of the visit they added on some services without my knowledge. I payed what’s due because he did need those services, but I thought it very unprofessional/strange of them to perform them without my permission or okay that I could even afford the services.
Jul 24, 2022 · James HI started taking my dog Willie to Oliver Animal Hospital after taking him to Banfield for the first couple of years after I adopted him. All I can say is I am SO happy I made the switch. For two years Willie has had seizures every 4-6 months, and anytime this concern was brought up with Banfield it was dismissed.I took Willie to see Doctor Oliver yesterday and it was the first time I have EVER felt like a vet cared for my baby the way I do. Everyone here is amazing and so friendly. The vet tech who assisted with Willie yesterday, Amy, was phenomenal too, I’m pretty sure Willie would’ve left me for her hahaAnyway I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here, I finally found somewhere I can feel good about taking my kid 💜
Sep 20, 2023 · sarah deltourSuch a great veterinary clinic. Staff is fabulous … helpful, detailed and super kind. Our first visit Dr. Oliver spent a good 30 min doing a detailed exam and noting everything. I’ve never had a vet do such a great exam! Text communications make it super easy to ask a question any time … they are super communicative and helpful. Love this clinic and highly recommend.
Oct 30, 2024 · Tracy SpethmannWe love Oliver. We always feel that our dog is in good hands. We have a 1.5 year old golden retriever who is VERY energetic and at times, unruly. I’m sure he drives the vet and vet techs absolutely crazy, but they always come out with only nice things to say about him. It’s a bit expensive, but we are paying for quality. It has never felt like a ‘money grab’ type of place. They are really easy to contact (we’ve never gotten their voicemail and have never been on hold for an extended period). They have even stayed after their closing hours to finish taking care of our sweet boy.
