Pets at Peace Introduce
For pet owners in California, the bond with a beloved animal companion is a cherished part of life. When that journey nears its end, making the decision to relieve a pet's suffering is one of the most difficult and profound acts of love a person can make. Pets at Peace, a specialized veterinary service based in Benicia, understands this with exceptional empathy and compassion. Unlike a traditional brick-and-mortar animal clinic, Pets at Peace is a mobile veterinary service dedicated to providing in-home euthanasia and end-of-life care. This unique model is designed to ensure your pet’s final moments are spent in the most familiar and comforting environment possible—their own home, surrounded by the people and places they love. The service is about more than just a medical procedure; it is about providing a peaceful, dignified, and loving transition for your pet, while offering crucial support and understanding to the family during a time of immense sorrow. Dr. Arnold and the team at Pets at Peace have dedicated their practice to this specific, sensitive area of veterinary medicine, earning a reputation for their profound kindness and professional care. They believe that a peaceful passing is the final gift a pet owner can give, and they are committed to making that experience as gentle and stress-free as possible for everyone involved.
The philosophy of Pets at Peace centers on reducing the anxiety and stress often associated with a final trip to a veterinary office. The hustle and bustle of a clinic waiting room, the unfamiliar smells, and the clinical atmosphere can add unnecessary fear to a pet's final hours. By offering in-home euthanasia, this mobile service eliminates those stressors, allowing your pet to pass away surrounded by comfort and love. The veterinary care provided is not only professional and sanitary but also deeply empathetic and passionate, as noted in client testimonials. Dr. Arnold's approach is to provide a calm and assuring presence during what is undoubtedly a "horrible time," as one reviewer stated. He is dedicated to explaining the process clearly and giving families the space and time they need to say their final goodbyes. The reviews praise his ability to make the experience feel less rushed, allowing for a truly personal and meaningful farewell. For a service that is so emotionally taxing, this level of compassionate care is invaluable. It helps pet owners feel confident that they have made the right decision for their beloved animal, ensuring that their pet’s final moments are handled with the utmost respect and dignity. This focus on the emotional well-being of both the pet and the owner is the core of the Pets at Peace mission.
As a mobile service, Pets at Peace operates as a home visit veterinarian. The physical address listed at 375 E O St, Benicia, CA 94510, USA serves as a base of operations, but the primary service is conducted directly in the client's home. The nature of a home visit means that location and accessibility are defined not by a building's features, but by the ability of the mobile team to reach you. The services are designed to be accessible to a wide area, reducing the need for stressful travel for both the pet and the owner. While the physical address may have a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot, the true accessibility of this service lies in its mobility. By coming directly to your home, Pets at Peace ensures that logistical challenges, such as transporting an ailing or immobile pet, are completely eliminated. This is particularly beneficial for large dogs or cats who are sensitive to car rides. The service operates by appointment, which is highly recommended to ensure the team can provide the unhurried and personalized attention that such a sensitive process requires. This structured planning allows them to be fully present and prepared for each visit, ensuring a peaceful and dignified experience. The convenience of a house call is the most significant aspect of this clinic's location and accessibility, offering a unique and invaluable service to the community.
The service model of Pets at Peace is centered on making a difficult time as easy as possible for the family. By bringing care directly to the home, they remove the stress of travel, a busy waiting room, and a clinical environment, all of which can increase a pet's anxiety during its final moments. This focus on the pet's comfort is paramount. The ability to choose the setting for the final moments—whether it's on a favorite bed, in a cozy living room, or in a quiet backyard—gives families a sense of control and peace. While the provided information mentions a physical address with wheelchair accessibility, it is the mobile nature of the service that provides the greatest level of accessibility. For pets that cannot be moved easily or for owners who cannot transport their pet, a house call is a necessary and compassionate solution. The appointment-recommended model is also crucial, as it allows the veterinary team to manage their schedule to be fully present for each client without feeling rushed. This ensures that every family receives the time and space they need to say a proper goodbye. The combination of a mobile service and a structured appointment system makes Pets at Peace a highly empathetic and efficient solution for end-of-life care in the community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr. Arnold came to us, during a time when we needed him most. It is never an easy decision to relieve your beloved pet’s suffering. Dr. Arnold was beyond compassionate, empathetic, and understanding of the entire process. The house call was the call we never wanted to make—but he was assuring during such a horrible time. We never felt rushed, and our pup was in such good care. Though I never want anyone to have to go through that, you can be sure that Dr. Arnold will take care of not only you, but your furry family member. Rest easy sweet Leila.
May 04 · Jocelyn DuganExperience was not only professional and sanitary, it was empathetic & passionate. It was my first time through this & in the end I felt like I made the compete right decision for my beloved Godzilla. He explained things very well and gave us the right amount of time and space to process through the service. Thank you Brian!
March 04 · cheyenne matthewsOur cat deteriorated very rapidly and unexpectedly over three days so we didn't have much time to plan ahead for an in-home euthanasia vet. Dr Arnold was able to see us on very short notice and came literally at the right moment when our cat was ready to cross Rainbow Bridge. He is very experienced, he has a background in Emergency Vet Medicine, and he is able to exert calm and a sense of organization in what could otherwise be a very painful and chaotic hour. He anticipated the more uncomfortable moments of the process and took steps to minimize undue stress for both pet parents and the pet, giving space and letting us take our time at all the right moments. He also understood well the ritual aspect of saying goodbye to a loved ones and always checked in with us about our preferences. As a human physician myself, I can confidently rate Dr Arnolds bedside manner and professionalism A++. He made our cat comfortable very quickly and while the 24 hours leading up to her death were rough, after Dr Arnolds visit we felt relieved and secure in our decision. He did a number of extras to memorialize our fur baby, giving us some of her fur shavings in a pretty bottle and making some expert paw print castings in clay for us. He goes the extra mile. His pricing was fair and reasonable, consistent with the rates in our area, and I felt our money well spent. He also reminded us to send the euthanasia invoice to our pet insurance provider which I would've completely forgotten about. He's very thoughtful and I highly recommend him when that difficult time comes to say goodbye.
April 24 · Jessica UnoOur sweet old pittie Luna experienced a sudden and irreversible back leg paralysis on New Years Eve after a few years of living with degenerative intervertebral disc disease. We knew this day would come, but having it happen on New years meant that we could find almost no one willing or available to provide in home care or end of life support, and we knew we did not want her last moments to be spent in a scary Veterinary ER. We were calling around desperately, recieving "no" after "no." Then Doctor Arnold came to our rescue. He fit us in on New Years day, and helped our sweet girl die in our living room being snuggled with all of her favorite people. He was compassionate and gentle with Luna, and with our broken hearts. He also explained right away in a very professional manner that he has a chronic tremor, and that he hoped we would not misinterpret that condition for nervousness, lack of care or unprofessionalism. Dr Arnold is a gem of a human being with a great capacity to sit compassionately with others in grief and pain. Thank you Dr Arnold for being there when we needed you most.
January 02 · Katie Kelly-HankinWords can't express how much we appreciated having Dr Arnold provide end of life services for our beloved family member. I couldn't ask for a kinder, more compassionate, more soothing vet than Dr Arnold. He reassured us through every step of the process and was incredibly sensitive and patient. He had a very calming presence and both our dogs were relaxed around him. I wish I could give him 10 stars.
