Platte Valley Veterinary Hospital Introduce
For residents of Nebraska, where the community relies on both the health of beloved family pets and the productivity of valuable livestock, finding a veterinary practice with the expertise to serve both needs is crucial. **Platte Valley Veterinary Hospital** in Alda stands out as a high-tech, full-service facility dedicated to serving this diverse clientele across the Platte Valley region. The hospital is known for integrating advanced medical technology with a commitment to providing comprehensive care for small and large animals.
The facility offers a robust range of services, from general wellness checks and preventive medicine for dogs and cats to highly specialized **Artificial Insemination** and **Embryo Transfer** programs essential for local agriculture. This dual capability makes Platte Valley Veterinary Hospital a foundational pillar of animal health in the area. The hospital has invested in cutting-edge diagnostics, including state-of-the-art **Diagnostic Imaging** and a unique **Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber**, placing it at the forefront of modern veterinary treatment options in the state.
While the hospital boasts a history of clients describing the staff as "amazing people" and the doctors as "great," a highly critical public review concerning the handling of an after-hours emergency by an on-call veterinarian, Dr. Matt Sullivan, raises serious concerns about the availability and compassionate delivery of urgent care. This specific incident, detailing a tragic loss due to perceived negligence, indifference, and a delay in response, stands in stark contrast to the positive reviews highlighting everyday kindness and knowledgeable service. Potential clients should weigh the reputation for outstanding routine and specialized care against the publicly documented issues regarding emergency responsiveness and patient compassion.
Platte Valley Veterinary Hospital is conveniently located just outside of Grand Island, making it a central and accessible destination for both local residents and those traveling from greater distances across Nebraska's agricultural landscape.
Address: 4783 Alda Rd S, Alda, NE 68810, USA

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- My dog lost his life because of negligence from this veterinarian.Matt SullivanFor three and a half hours, I called the on-call emergency vet, over and over, for help. My dog was in pain, and suffering and I was doing everything I could. Matt Sullivan was the on call vet and no one could get him to answer the phone for three hr.When the vet finally answered — after hours of silence — he didn’t show any concern. Instead, he made me feel like I was an inconvenience, like I was interrupting his day or bothering him. I was panicked, trying to hold it together, and I asked him directly:“What do you want me to do — sit here and watch my dog die?”And he said to me, coldly, “Why would you let it get that far?”That’s what he said to me — after I had called him repeatedly for over three hours trying to get help. He turned it back on me, as if I hadn’t done everything I possibly could to save my dog. Then he told me that if he had to get up and go to the clinic, it would start at $500 — no compassion, no urgency, just a price and a warning. It was clear he didn’t want to help. And this was the on-call emergency vet — the one person I was supposed to be able to count on.If I’m not mistaken, the vet lives near the clinic, but it still took him 45 minutes to get there after finally agreeing to come. And when he arrived, he wasn’t rushed or concerned. He showed up clean-shaven, dressed nicely, and completely put together — like someone who had taken his time getting ready for the day while my dog was dying. There was no sense of emergency. No urgency. No care.By the time he arrived, my dog was gone. This wasn’t just a tragic loss — it was a preventable one. And it happened because the veterinarian who was supposed to provide emergency care refused to take the situation seriously. I begged for help. I did everything I could. And I was met with indifference. No one should ever be made to feel like they’re a burden for trying to save their pet. And no animal should ever be denied care because someone didn’t feel like doing their job.I will never take my animal to him or his clinic ever again, And if your thinking about doing it I would reconsider. There are other options. Don't go because its cheap don't come here at all your animal deserves better. July 21 · Kellie Svoboda
