Pleasant Hill Animal Clinic Introduce

Specifically, instances of poor communication regarding appointment scheduling, a lack of consistent follow-up, and challenges with billing transparency have been mentioned. Given this feedback, new clients should consider maintaining detailed records of their visits and proactively confirming all charges and treatment plans. This diligence will help ensure a smooth experience and allow pet owners to fully benefit from the excellent medical services offered.
The clinic is conveniently situated to serve Pleasant Hill and the surrounding rural areas of Missouri. Its location on a major state route makes it easily reachable for routine visits, farm calls, or during an emergency.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I took our family dog Piper in for a "simple procedure". When my daughter went to pick her up, she was told that Piper wasn't coming out from anesthesia. Our family went over to see her and she couldn't move, but she looked up at us for help. The vet said he would take her home and watch her overnight. That turned out to be false because he said he couldn't haul her - so she lay in that room alone all night - scared and hemorrhaging. She "died" the next morning, shortly after the vet told my daughter that she was holding on and may pull out. Don't trust them with your pets life. June 11 · jim
- For nearly 2 years I’ve used this vet office with no issue, but my past few appointments have completely damaged my trust in this office. My cat has had asthma her entire life, diagnosed in Iowa before we moved to Missouri. We saw vets at Independence Animal Clinic for 6+ years treating her asthma condition, smooth sailing from the moment we became patients there. I didn’t know I could miss a vet’s office so much!My extremely predictable cat with a long-established medical history gets an exam and asthma shot for $35. Every 4 months. The only variance in cost is when rabies is due.The nightmare started when a newly hired vet injected my cat with rabies and asthma shots without weighing her first. The steroid shot did not work for the first time in my cat’s life. I call to make another appointment less than a week later, insisting my cat needs another asthma shot because she is having daily attacks. I am scheduled and relieved.I drive a half-hour to my appointment and endure the usual long wait only to be told by the vet that the steroid shot I came for can’t be administered because she just had one. Understandable, but why was I allowed to make the appointment, I asked. The vet says to me that staff dropped the ball. After an unwelcome slew of other forms of steroids and X-rays were offered to me (after being told her lungs sound great), I was sent to the front desk… WITH A RECEIPT! A receipt for what? To be told I can’t have what I came for, after being assured it was the office’s mistake in making the appointment? Only when I defended my right not to pay for their mistake, I left after front desk spoke to higher-ups; I was told “you are good to go.” Exact quote. So I leave thinking they realized how unfair it was to try and charge me a full $30 as if I had received more than a dismissal. I assure them I’ll be back when it’s finally appropriate for my cat to have her shot.Fast forward to today, the 3 weeks of suffering for my cat was scheduled to end. We go in, get the shot from the same vet who once again did not attempt to weigh my cat first. I walk out to pay and the front desk staff says “$65”. I ask why. She says I have an outstanding balance on my account. I explain that was already discussed and there’s clear miscommunications going on, as I wouldn’t have come to the office if I thought I still owed money for that clown show of an appointment prior. Unbelievably, the staff member, after hearing all the hoops I’ve jumped through for a simple asthma shot, proceeds to say “well, it was actually supposed to be $95…” The reason for that? A “first time evaluation charge” on my cat who’s been a patient there since I moved to the area, September 2023. After that point, I’m not sure if it was the look on our faces or, again, a realization of their ridiculousness. But they “ALLOWED” me to pay my usual $35 for services rendered.TLDR; Don’t use this office unless you like to argue for your right to only pay for what you receive. Keep records, because they will make up the most random charges. You rarely see the same vet twice. Not sure what changed here in recent months but I am happy to be returning to the place I received this same service, for the same price, with zero fuss! Independence Animal Clinic, it’s amazing! Even if the drive is longer it’s absolutely worth it to ensure my cat’s being taken care of by an office with better personalized practices and communication. I will make sure the family I recommended this vet to are warned about its deceitful practices. For one year, I should pay $105 total (1 shot per 4 months). Instead, they tried to make me pay $90 for my 3rd visit in a 30 day span. For the staff reading this review: If you want to claim someone owes you money, tell them over the phone when they make an appointment so they aren't blindsided. Or, less preferably but still more acceptable: when they check in! You’d think it’s obvious customer service not to let someone be surprised with 3x the cost of their usual appointment at check-out. - Took a stray cat who had a bad injury here because the prices were a bit better than my normal vet. However, they wouldn't let me go back with the cat to meet the vet and they tried to treat without consulting me. I have a lot of experience with injured animals and know that they ignored a few problems on our first visit, making me have to go back when the injury got worse. And then after the second visit things got worse once again due to bad stitches and a lack of drainage for a wound. Overall, the amount of mistakes ended up costing me the same as my normal vet. - We took our small dogs here for a haircut, we droped them off perfectly fine. Picked them up only to find out a few days later that they had a few nicks & cuts, not pretty. And they didn't even say anything about it when we picked them up. April 19 · Rollin Coal
- The best animal clinic around. Not only do they have decent prices, they have compassion and truly care about the animals. Love love love this clinic. August 04 · Debbie McMulin
