South Texas Veterinary Ophthalmology Reviews
I found this place on Google while researching my little girl's eye condition and seeing all the wonderful reviews, I couldn't help but cancel my surgery appointment with another vet clinic and make a new one with this place (even though I live in Austin and knew it would mean a 2 hour drive).Today I can confirm that all the good reviews I read are true; this is by far the best place I could have brought my baby doggy to. The staff was very friendly from the first call to the moment I left the clinic, the doctors and the technician were splendid in every way, they answered all my questions and concerns and showed great knowledge of the whole situation. My baby still needed surgery (cherry eye) and even though it is something a little scary to consider, I was able to feel peace and safety knowing that I was leaving her in good hands. They were also very clear with all the post-surgery instructions and provided me with the medication I would need. Today my baby is in the process of recovery, but I couldn't feel more grateful for having found this place. I will recommend for now on to all my friends around the area.I will leave here the pictures of the night before the surgery and the night right after the surgery. I will update another one when she is fully heal in 2 weeks.UPDATE: After a month of recovery, my baby looks like nothing ever happened. I’m beyond grateful with this place and the amazing people that performed the surgery. The last picture attached is how she looks now.
Feb 05, 2025 · Erika GomezI want to let Dr Fritz know how grateful I am for helping my girl Naomi. Years ago, Naomi had a mass on her lower eye lid. This mass would grow then shrink intermittently, no vet seemed worried about it, until finally in 2021 it just kept growing and rapidly. The vet was no longer able to remove due to the growth rate and I was referred to an ophthalmologist. The first 2 vet ophthalmologist in Austin suggested to remove her eye because the margin of removal on the eye lid was extensive. I decided to get another opinion and that’s when I found Dr Fritz. Dr Fritz gave me options and cared for Naomi like she deserves to be cared for. We decided to first try a reconstructive surgery and it went so well, Naomi’s perfectly good eye was saved and she is thriving all these years later. After sending for a biopsy it turns out the mass was squamous cell carcinoma. Naomi is a black lab and we just celebrated her 15th birthday and I want Dr Fritz to know just how thankful I am, he is a huge part of the reason she is living and doing great. Thank you for what you are doing! You are amazing and deserve many more thank yous than I could ever give you.
May 28, 2025 · J KI have been blown away by the professionalism, expertise, and genuine care of this facility, their doctors and staff. I brought my dog here from Mexico City for an emergent appointment and surgery and the attention and care given to my dog and me was incredible. Milo and I are so grateful to STVO and will never forget the kindness they offered us during a really difficult time.
Apr 03, 2025 · Rebecca DulinDr. Fritz (Ophtho) and his assistant were excellent. Dr Fritz was very knowledgeable, patient in answering questions, and provided a clear & reasonable plan for my dog’s eye condition. The visit was not rushed- this was my first visit, but I would certainly recommend Dr Fritz for your fur-baby’s eye concerns. Also, I would mention that making the appointment was extremely easy- another plus for a specialty that is highly sought after, with limited specialists in the area. The eye chart in the exam room was cute too…made me do a double take when I saw it
Apr 26, 2025 · Sway S.Very down to earth and easy to work with. The stuff really does seem to care, and they'll tell you when they don't know, and will refer to a specialist when needed. Thanks a bunch y'all, Ronin is on the road to recovery!
