★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Absolutely has my business! Came out on a Saturday night to help my mare which was choking. Saved her life! 10 gal of water to flush out the choke. He was her saving grace!! ❤️I have also brought a 5mo old filly who had a gutteral pouch issue, he was very upfront on honest.
November 10 · Rebecca kocherIt's rare that you find the most caring, most competent and most reasonably priced provider all at the same place. Dr. Colwell, the owner, is the best Vet in the area and is worth the drive from Cookeville.
July 02 · Sam StoneAbsolutely love the office staff, they are always friendly and helpful even when I forget to call in prescription pickups. We have experience with 3 of the vets, although were sad to learn our favorite recently moved.Dr Colwell has been wonderful in our handful of interactions. He is very knowledgeable and up front about the realistic treatments for our pets. Unfortunately the reason I can't give 5 stars is because of Dr Hackett. He doesn't seem to be as thorough and is more dismissive of concerns. Specifically with our elderly cat who was in late stage kidney failure in the fall. We said she needed to be put down and he told us she would be just fine if we pumped her full of IV fluids every day for the rest of her life, said she'd live another 16 years. We knew that was a stretch, but he still gave us hope she would feel better and we'd have at least a little more time since it was sudden. She did not get any better and when we brought her back two days later Dr Colwell looked at her lab work from the prior visit and said there was obviously nothing that could be done at that time and it was best to say goodbye. I don't know if Hackett just didn't read the labs right or what, but based on his urgings we ended up spending a ton more there than we needed to on fluids and the materials to administer it at home, and in the end we didn't need it because she was so deep into suffering that she should have been put down immediately. Instead of being honest with us he put us into a financial burden because of all the extra visits and then the anesthesia visit later. And she had a terrible reaction with that and expelled all the fluids he had given her because she just couldn't process it out. He also just did the annual in my dogs and really didn't listen to concerns and was dismissive. If you want good care, make sure to schedule your appointments with Colwell. Not Hackett.
