Texas Veterinary Behavior Services Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1During our correspondence, we discussed working with our dog during the initial visit and learning techniques to practice at home. We completed a questionnaire they sent, but the first visit ($600) only involved reviewing it, with no training provided. We explicitly stated we did not want medication, yet that was their only suggestion—meds that would sedate our dog all day. After a lengthy phone call, they finally understood our stance. We hoped for more than a typical overpriced, ineffective dog training experience, but that’s what we got. We were optimistic they might connect us with skilled trainers, but the two they referred us to weren’t accepting new clients or didn’t have availability, and one wanted to have another initial consult over zoom that was the same thing that we did before.
April 28 · Kyle BrassTexas Veterinary Behavior Services is the place to go when your animal has serious behavior problems. Dr. Haug is awesome - an internationally respected expert in her field - a great clinician - and a fantastic teacher for her human clients.I'm fortunate enough to have worked with many of her clients / patients in my role as a trainer. I've become familiar with dozens of her behavior modification plans - each unique for each human-animal team. Dr. Haug's recommendations are sound and achievable in real-life settings. Her continuing support by email and phone, especially as it relates to managing medication, is very reliable. I never get the sense that clients are left hanging.I've also consulted with Dr. Haug about my own dogs - so I have first-hand experience as a client too. She's caring and thorough. My dogs are both better off for our having seen her. You'll like Dr. Haug and her team. I highly recommend them.
August 11 · Michael BaughAfter surviving a tornado and a few life changes in rapid succession, I watched my formerly sweet boy change into a dog I didn’t recognize: anxious, obsessive, and terrified. I have owned reactive dogs before and knew training alone would not help. Previous medications failed or made things worse. Dr. Haug gave us hope and in a few short months (combined with consistent behavior modification), our boy is on his way back to being his happy, confident self! He will always need some extra help and advocacy, but medication let us break through the wall of anxiety so he could actually learn to trust the world again.
June 20 · K. RiggsDr. Haug is an amazing veterinary behaviorist who not only has all the education and knowledge from being a veterinarian, but also the actual practical experience of training both dogs and horses! She has even competed in dog sports with her doberman, and has her own horse. Houston is so lucky to have her and I highly recommend her.
April 19 · Choose Positive Alice TongWe had the world’s worst dog. He would bite us, the vet, and attempt to bite guests. He was probably on a path to be put down. We had to stop entertaining. Attempts with trainers and classes were unsuccessful. We were coming undone when we found Dr. Haug. She was able to provide the medical management he needed, teach us the progression of skills he needed (individualized to his issues), and connect us with a wonderful trainer. A year and a half later we are able to have guests. People see him as a “sweet boy” and we are able to enjoy him.We would not have been able to do it without Dr. Haug. She listened to our concerns and preferences. She has been incredibly responsive to our questions. She has provided excellent medical oversight. She coordinates with our regular vet.Our dog is alive and we are happy dog owners thanks to her.
