We have a large dog who only goes to the vet once per year for vaccination so he is not used to it. During his visit he was found to have an ear infection which required treatment. Needless to say he did not like it and we did have trouble getting him to stay still, partly for fear but also because I'm sure his ears were very uncomfortable. I feel like an office who treats animals all day would be able to handle a dog who won't be still however the technician was very angry and made very hateful comments for us to hear. The veterinarian was kind which I appreciated but the response from the tech was awful. I've never found this office to be warm and friendly but this was traumatizing for us and our dog. Keep in mind our dog was not aggressive or trying to hurt anyone, he simply was trying to get out of the hold we had him in and he did accidentally scratch the technician but it was not in a vicious or mean way. My main concern is how they would treat an animal if the owners weren't present. I accept responsibility for my dog not being still and being uncooperative however he cannot be the ONLY animal they've ever had who acted this way.
June 18 · Jenny RobichaudWe have been bringing our two cats since their birth 12 years ago for all routine shots as well as non-routine care. Sunday August 20 I had an emergency. For 3 days one of my cats would not eat or drink anything. I called their emergency number on Sunday and after 10 wasted minutes of getting my information was told maybe a clinic in Knoxville could see him...100 miles from house! I couldn't make that trip. Called back Monday morning as soon as they opened, told them the situation, cat had no water for 4 days, lethargic and I was concerned that he might die. Was told no we don't have anything till Wednesday. I repeated he must see someone that day. Her reply was maybe Dr. Copeland in Cookeville could see him. 12 years we have been going there for everything and we were treated like strangers.. Took my cat same day to a walk in clinic in Spring City and they were absolutely wonderful to him. Saw him within and hour, tech gave him water thru a syringe for a long time to get him revived. Wonderful care there. They did blood work and determined he had a parasitic blood infection from a tick bite. Kept him all day giving him an IV, shots and liquid food again with a syringe. They really cared about getting my cat the best care they could provide. He is now on a 21 day prescription of Doxycycline. Will not ever be back to Upper Cumberland. Don't think they cared if my cat lived or died.

I never feel rushed, and he makes you feel like you're the only person who matters at that moment. I read several of the lower-rated reviews and have to wonder why they had such poor perspectives. Unfortunately, no one can make everyone happy. What's even worse is as a medical professional, Dr. Thompson and his staff are bound by HIPAA-like privacy regulations, and therefore can't publicly address complaints like other professionals could.It must be terribly frustrating to do all you can to help people, only to have a select few be so negative, and then not be able to tell your side of the story. I encourage anyone reading these comments to consider that (a) there are always negative people, (b) there are always two sides to every story, and (c) you're only getting one side here.I wouldn't hesitate for an instant to bring every animal I have to Dr. Thompson.
November 01 · Eric CThis was by far the worst veterinary experience of my life — no, the worst service experience of any kind.My dog and I have been in South America for several months and Upper Cumberland held one of her vaccine records which was required for her to leave the country.I called to get that record sent to the vet in Medellin and the “manager” of the office (her claim when I asked to speak to the manager) refused any option except fax, which is a technology nobody uses here in Colombia.I let her know my vet doesn’t have this and she offered a verbal confirmation, which does not meet legal requirements. I asked if she had a scanner and she said yes, but that she doesn’t have an email she could use to send it, so fax only.I asked if she could take a photo with her phone and send me that. She said no, she only has her personal phone. Fax only.I offered to let her sign into my personal email so that wouldn’t be an issue and she refused, saying she doesn’t have the time for all that.I reminded her that my dog will literally be stuck in a country I am being forced to leave and she still refused to do anything.Eventually, I hung up and called another vet to ask them to receive the fax and scan the documents. Without any compensation this service was offered in under two minutes.This is the worst veterinary clinic I’ve ever heard of. They were willing to force my pet to be abandoned or put down because this (insert awful word) was unwilling to spend a few minutes to help. Unbelievable. I would give zero stars if it were possible, because they would let my dog die before helping.

Been here 14 years and always heard good things.The first time I ever had to go was to help my girlfriend's family put down their 15 year old pitbull/boxer, Jack. It was very easy to set up an appointment, they were kind and awesome from the moment they said hello. Their prices were fair and everyone we met and talked to were compassionate, caring, friendly and so incredible. Thank you team for the great experience. We hope to be back in better circumstances one day.
