★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I brought my dog here a year ago for a dental cleaning and some other dental work. Dr. Summar met with us the morning of the procedure, and it was a positive experience from start to finish. I've since moved and after a less-positive experience at a different vet, I was inspired me to come back and leave Valley Vet a 5 Star review. Thanks, and we'll make the drive next time!
August 13 · Charlie PSuper nice staff that doesn't talk to you like a child with cancer. I had a euthanasia scheduled but she's passed before the appointment in the night, but still helped me with the cremation. Main thing is obviously cost, over half as inexpensive as other places. Most wanted 500 plus for that.Ridiculous. Thanks again Valley.
August 07 · Behold a son GoodeWhen my dog first started having issues 7 years ago, I went to several different vets before I found this place. Dr. Summar is far better than any of the other vets I had been to. He is thorough, but doesn't do any unnecessary treatments. He is easy to understand and his pricing is very reasonable.
March 19 · Ryoko BrownModifying my previous 5 star review because as time has gone on I can not in good faith endorse this practice anymore. This practice is great if you have otherwise healthy pets and are looking for a low cost practice. I would not advise coming here if you have an active problem you want diagnosed.I brought my dog in in January because he had swelling in his neck approx. the size of a tennis ball out of nowhere. We were very concerned about cancer and the vet told me he thought he must have chewed a stick in the yard and gotten a shard lodged in his throat, as that was the most likely possibility. For reference, my dog had never eaten anything he wasn't supposed to ever in his life over 9 years. There was no diagnostic work done at this time, I was sent home with 2 weeks of antibiotics. We came back after the first two weeks did not improve the swelling, and had to really stand up for ourselves just to get blood work taken that day, because the vet is a really strong proponent for telling you how much everything will cost, etc. We have pet insurance and said it repeatedly that cost was NOT at all an issue. The blood work came back with elevated values that were correlated with the eventual lymphoma he was diagnosed with at the ER a few weeks later, but the vet here did not think anything was abnormal about his abnormal blood work results. We were sent home with 6 more weeks of the same antibiotic, despite the blood work indicating there was no active infection.Lastly, I emailed the practice on March 3 to let them know that he had just been diagnosed with aggressive and advanced lymphoma, because this was our established practice and thought it would be wise for them to know this information given they had just seen him twice over three weeks for this issue, and I never got a response from anyone at the practice. I was shocked to have not gotten a response from the practice, and feel his condition could have been treated almost 6 weeks sooner had the doctor done blood work sooner and connected his elevated values to lymphoma, taken samples of any of his lymph nodes (but especially the very swollen to the size of a tennis ball one), an ultrasound to see the masses on his liver and spleen, etc, or if they were unable to do that, to refer us to a specialty hospital that could. I thought I was doing everything right by going to the vet multiple times, following the protocol ordered by the vet because I assume they are the expert and I am not, but ultimately our dog died 15 days after his diagnosis, and spent a total of 8 weeks on antibiotics for an infection he never had.Not looking for a resolution here, and I do not wish to be contacted at this point because we will not be coming here again. If you are someone who is willing to walk to the ends of the earth for their animals and spend any dollar amount necessary to do it, I'd advise another practice.
April 08 · Kaitlin BenzWe have been seeing Dr Summar for the last 15 years with various dogs and a turtle. He always takes the time to explain how the pet is and how to take care after a procedure or what could be done to improve the health of the pet. He and his staff are Great!
