- Part of a National Network (VCA): Being a VCA hospital provides access to a vast network of veterinary knowledge, expertise, and resources, including a collective knowledge base of over 4,000 veterinarians and specialists nationwide. This affiliation allows for robust support and consultation for complex cases.
- Comprehensive Care for All Life Stages: The hospital emphasizes providing care from "first shots and examination through a lifetime of preventive and healing care," including specialized new puppy/kitten packages and senior pet wellness.
- Focus on Preventative Care: A core mission is to provide "quality preventive care," aiming to detect and prevent problems before they become serious, which is crucial for long-term pet health.
- Gentle and Caring Staff (for some experiences): One positive review specifically highlights Dr. Nobert and his assistant being "very gentle with my cat," indicating a compassionate approach to handling pets, which can greatly reduce animal stress during visits.
- Easy Scheduling and Prompt Service (for some experiences): The same positive review noted that "Scheduling was easy" and they "got him in the day after I called," suggesting efficiency in appointment setting.
- Reasonable Cost (for some experiences): One positive reviewer found the "cost was reasonable," indicating that their pricing can be perceived as fair for the services rendered.
- Modern & Remodeled Facility: The hospital mentions being "newly remodeled," suggesting a clean, updated, and comfortable environment for pets and clients.

- Access to Advanced Care: Through the VCA network, they can refer to specialty hospitals for advanced veterinary care such as orthopedic surgery, advanced oncology, and stem cell therapy.
However, it is crucial to address the significant negative review, which points to serious concerns:
- Allegations of Deception and Up-charging: The reviewer claims staff "lie to my face" regarding the necessity of an exam for a rabies vaccine refill, alleging it's a tactic to "steal another $100+ dollars." This strongly contradicts principles of transparency and ethical billing.
- Poor Communication/Follow-up: The experience of not receiving a call back for lab results (which revealed worms) and a week-long delay on a health inquiry suggests significant issues with client communication and follow-up.
- Customer Service Issues: The reviewer describes being "talked to like crap" and being told, "I think you need to go," indicating a severe breakdown in customer service.
These contradictory reviews highlight that while some clients have positive experiences with gentleness and reasonable costs, others face serious issues related to transparency, communication, and perceived overcharging. Prospective clients should consider this varied feedback.

---For locals residing in Connecticut, particularly within Vernon and its surrounding communities, VCA Animal Hospital of Vernon presents itself as a comprehensive option for veterinary care. Its convenient location on Talcottville Road offers easy access for residents, making it a practical choice for routine visits and addressing general pet health concerns.
The hospital's affiliation with the larger VCA network brings significant advantages, including access to a vast collective knowledge base and the potential for referrals to specialized VCA hospitals for advanced medical needs. This can be reassuring for pet owners seeking a broad spectrum of care, from preventative wellness and vaccinations to diagnostics and surgical services. The emphasis on preventative care and tailored wellness plans aligns with the desires of many responsible pet owners to keep their companions healthy long-term.
However, prospective clients in Connecticut must weigh the positive aspects against the serious concerns raised in one of the provided reviews. While one client lauded the gentle approach and reasonable cost, another detailed highly negative experiences involving alleged deception, questionable billing practices related to required exams, and poor communication. Such discrepancies in client experiences are crucial for locals to consider. Trust and transparency are foundational to the veterinarian-client relationship, and allegations of lying or up-charging can significantly undermine that trust.
Therefore, while VCA Animal Hospital of Vernon offers a wide array of services backed by a national network, local pet owners should proceed with informed caution. It is advisable to have clear discussions about all proposed treatments, associated costs, and the necessity of every service, particularly for routine procedures like vaccinations. Asking specific questions and seeking clarification on billing practices upfront can help ensure a satisfactory experience. Ultimately, the suitability of VCA Animal Hospital of Vernon for locals will depend on individual priorities regarding care quality, cost transparency, and the importance of clear, consistent communication.

VCA Animal Hospital of Vernon Reviews
I was very happy with my visit here. Dr. Nobert and his assistant were very gentle with my cat and diagnosed and treated his eye scratch. Scheduling was easy. They got him in the day after I called. The cost was reasonable.
May 07, 2025 · Joy BartmonWent in January for exam, heartworm test and refill along with rabies vaccine. They did the exam, hearworm test and gave meds. They did not do rabies because no doctor avail on day of appointment.Went at later date for rabies today and they try sneaking in another $100+ exam (check ears, eyes and listen to heart!!). I said I’m not paying that he just had it done. One lady comes back and lies to my face saying it’s law they have to exam first. Quick google search and it’s not!!! Not only do she lie to my face another vet (lady) comes in and makes an excuse for her lying to me saying she has the right to chose for an exam!! No you have the right to steal another $100+ dollars from a customer you just lied to and talked to like crap. Then she says I think you need to go. GladlyEDIT 4/11/2025: even the replies of these people are generic. The owner, vets there only care about taking your money and up-charging!
Apr 11, 2025 · Mike LitalienVCA Vernon is always so professional and helpful. I’ve been bringing my dog for 5 years. Their level of service and follow ups are top notch. I’ll never forget the time I was on vacation with my dog and having a text conversation with VCA Vernon because they just wanted to double check that my dog was doing okay while traveling with me. Thank you all at VCA Vernon.
Apr 01, 2025 · Jacqueline AlgarinDon’t Waste your time very unprofessional, rude, and racist receptionist, especially the office manager, Nancy. If you want to get your medication on hand, you can forget about it they don’t even carry the necessary medications on sight. Prepaid medication told me they will call me within 1 week almost 3 weeks passed by. I heard nothing from them. I guess they wanted to just keep the money. When I called the rude racist manager told me that they will never call to update clients. What kind of veterinary stuff are you running. I even had to tell the doctor to prescribe my cat a specific medication I saw all the cats getting on Google that the doctor didn’t even bring up. I felt like I was diagnosing my own cat. Again beware of vets like these it’s not my first time dealing with these unprofessional, racist, LAZY money hungry veterinary staff. And the reason I say money is because their mood changes when they think that you can’t pay them. 🤣 ridiculous, they’re a joke.Don’t waste your time bringing your pets here.
