Vetco Vaccination Clinic Introduce
For pet parents across New Jersey, ensuring our beloved companions receive timely and essential preventative care, like vaccinations, is a cornerstone of responsible ownership. However, navigating the various options for veterinary services can sometimes be confusing. This article focuses on Vetco Vaccination Clinic in Ramsey, NJ, a specific type of veterinary service designed to provide accessible and often more affordable routine preventative care. While it’s important to understand their specialized focus, for many local pet owners, Vetco offers a convenient solution for maintaining their pets' basic health.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic operates with a clear mission to make preventative pet healthcare more accessible. Unlike full-service veterinary hospitals that handle everything from complex surgeries to emergency care, Vetco Vaccination Clinics, typically located within Petco stores, concentrate on routine wellness services. Their philosophy centers on avoiding illness in animals through essential preventative measures such as vaccinations, anti-parasitic treatments, and diagnostic screenings. The goal is to protect pets and their owners from various diseases, some of which can be harmful, expensive to treat, or even deadly. They aim to provide a positive, affordable, and professional healthcare option, emphasizing the value and necessity of preventative veterinary medicine. This model is particularly beneficial for pet owners seeking budget-friendly solutions for their pets' ongoing wellness needs.
The Vetco Vaccination Clinic in Ramsey is conveniently located at 9 Interstate Shopping Center, Franklin Turnpike, Ramsey, NJ 07446, USA. This placement within a Petco store offers significant accessibility for local pet owners. Being part of a larger retail center means easy parking and often the ability to combine a veterinary visit with other pet-related errands. For residents of Ramsey and surrounding towns in Northern New Jersey, the location on Franklin Turnpike, a well-trafficked thoroughfare, ensures straightforward navigation. This accessibility is a key advantage for busy individuals and families looking to efficiently manage their pet's preventative healthcare schedule without long drives or complicated routes. The clinic's integration into a familiar retail environment also contributes to a sense of convenience and ease for regular visits.
Vetco Vaccination Clinics specialize in preventative vet care, offering a focused range of services to keep pets healthy. It's important to note that these clinics typically do not offer emergency services, sick visits for complex illnesses, or surgeries. Their primary offerings include:
Vaccinations: A core service, providing essential protection against common diseases. This includes:
Rabies Vaccine (often legally required)
DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza) 5-in-1 Vaccine for dogs
Bordetella (Kennel Cough) Vaccine
Canine Influenza Vaccine
Leptospirosis Vaccine
Lyme Vaccine
FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) 3-in-1 Vaccine for cats
Feline Leukemia (FeLV) Vaccine
Rx Flea & Tick Prevention: Offering prescription-strength medications to protect pets from external parasites.
Rx Heartworm Prevention: Providing prescription medications to prevent heartworm disease, often after a required negative test.
Heartworm & Tick-Borne Disease Testing: Essential diagnostic tests to check for the presence of these vector-borne diseases.
Fecal Testing: Used to detect internal parasites.
Microchipping: A crucial service for permanent pet identification, significantly increasing the chances of reunification if a pet becomes lost.
Deworming: Routine treatment for common intestinal parasites.
Brief Courtesy Wellness Check: A quick assessment during the visit to ensure the pet appears healthy enough for the scheduled preventative services.
It is crucial to understand that Vetco Vaccination Clinics are geared towards healthy pets requiring routine preventative care. For any signs of illness, injury, or more complex medical needs, a full-service veterinary hospital or animal clinic is the appropriate choice.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic in Ramsey highlights its distinctive approach to pet care through several key features.
Focus on Preventative Care: The clinic's primary strength lies in its specialization in routine vaccinations and basic preventative treatments. This allows them to streamline services and potentially offer more competitive pricing for these specific needs, making essential wellness care more accessible for budget-conscious pet owners.
Convenient In-Store Location: Being situated inside a Petco store provides a convenient "one-stop shop" experience. Pet owners can get their pet's vaccinations done and then pick up pet food, toys, or other supplies, saving time and effort. This integration into a familiar retail environment enhances the overall convenience.
Accessibility for Basic Needs: For pets that are generally healthy and only require routine shots, deworming, or microchipping, Vetco offers a straightforward and often quicker alternative to a full-service vet. The focus on a limited set of services means they can often handle a higher volume of appointments for these specific needs.
However, it is equally important to address significant concerns raised in customer reviews, which highlight potential areas of improvement for the clinic experience:
Service Refusal and Misrepresentation: A review explicitly states, "I was literally refused service for the first time in my life by the young boy at the podium, Christopher C." and that they were "absolutely misrepresented the cost of the vaccines." This indicates potential issues with initial client intake, clear communication regarding service scope, and pricing transparency, leading to frustration and a perception of being misled.
Questionable Professionalism and Malpractice Concerns: The same review describes an alarming situation where the veterinarian, "Ashraf Shehab signed the summary which stated absolute lies about my dog... even though the vet, Mr. Shehab, didn't even see my dog and wasn't even there in the store yet!!" This raises serious questions about professional conduct, potentially amounting to malpractice if accurate, and suggests a significant breakdown in oversight and ethical standards for patient records. The inability to speak with a veterinarian when requested further exacerbates this concern.
Customer Service and Communication Breakdown: Both negative reviews point to a general lack of clarity and poor communication. "We were not impressed with the level of service, knowledge and professionalism of people who helped us," and the complaint about not being informed of a required second shot for additional cost clearly indicates a need for improved communication protocols to manage client expectations effectively.
Perceived Judgment and Discrimination: One review alleges deeply disturbing behavior, including being judged for their lifestyle, shamed for being homeless, and even being called names, with suggestions of refusal based on "openly seen religion." If true, such incidents represent a severe departure from professional and ethical conduct expected in any service industry, especially healthcare.

For pet owners in Ramsey and the surrounding New Jersey communities, Vetco Vaccination Clinic, located within the Petco at 9 Interstate Shopping Center, can be a suitable option for very specific, routine preventative pet care. Its model is designed for affordability and convenience, offering essential services like vaccinations, microchipping, and parasite prevention in an accessible retail setting. If your pet is generally healthy and you are primarily seeking cost-effective ways to keep up with their core wellness shots and basic preventative treatments, this clinic might align with your needs. The integration with Petco can also be a time-saver for busy schedules, allowing for consolidated errands.
However, it is critically important for prospective clients to be fully aware of the significant concerns highlighted in customer feedback. The reviews detail serious issues regarding service refusal, alleged misrepresentation of costs, a perceived lack of professionalism, and deeply concerning accusations of judgmental and discriminatory behavior from staff members, including a veterinarian. Claims of a veterinarian signing off on services not performed are particularly troubling and warrant careful consideration.
Therefore, while the Vetco Vaccination Clinic offers a niche service that can be beneficial for very basic, healthy pet needs, potential users should approach with caution and ensure they have clear communication regarding services, costs, and veterinarian availability. For any pet exhibiting signs of illness, injury, or requiring more comprehensive diagnostics and treatment, a full-service veterinary hospital would be a more appropriate and safer choice. For routine vaccinations and basic preventative care, it offers a budget-friendly and convenient option, provided one manages expectations regarding the scope of services and is prepared for potential inconsistencies in customer experience as reported by some individuals.

Vetco Vaccination Clinic Reviews
DON'T GO!! Today, I was literally refused service for the first time in my life by the young boy at the podium, Christopher C..... and he tried to tell me that I need to go to the more expensive "wellness visit" at their clinic, for a Rabies shot???!!! Utterly ridiculous, and a total scam!! What's worse, he wouldn't let me even talk to the veterinarian, even though I asked twice! Even worse, on the visit summary I received in an email afterwards, the veterinarian Ashraf Shehab signed the summary which stated absolute lies about my dog... even though the vet, Mr. Shehab, didn't even see my dog and wasnt even there in the store yet!! Isn't that malpractice?? Maybe they wanted me gone for other reasons, like my openly seen religion, or maybe its a scam to force people to go to their wellness clinics, or maybe they needed an excuse because the vet wasn't even there yet, after waiting 15 minutes! Regardless, the way I was treated was wrong. All I wanted was a rabies shot for my dog and routine dewormer...and now I go home feeling so distressed and upset. I WILL NEVER GO BACK.
Apr 12, 2025 · Mrs. MouWe were not impressed with the level of service, knowledge and professionalism of people who helped us. Also, they absolutely misrepresented the cost of the vaccines, not letting us know we would have to come back in 4 weeks and they will charge us again for the second shot. Which is ridiculous to charge for the second shot without letting us know about that. The only positive thing I can say is that they were very nice.WOULD NOT USE AGAIN.
Dec 16, 2024 · Ted MorrowThis review is regarding the vetco at this location. The service from the vet technicians here is absolutely terrible. Will never come to this location again. Will most definitely look for local vet.Context: Had to come 3 times just to complete my annual visit. First time, they cancelled without informing me. Second time, got the vaccines but was given the wrong prescription. Third time, came back to get the right prescription but was made to wait instead of just handling this task asynchronously with other patrons here for annual vaccine appointments.
Feb 10, 2024 · Varun KhannaThere are plenty of appointments available for a reason. Within our appointment the vet (Dr. Herdic) gave additional medications and vaccines without our consent. Our puppy’s records show that we did not need the vaccine and she is allergic to the medication. We will just wait out our usual vet’s schedule from now on.
