I have brought my senior pittie here twice now for medical emergencies. I was seen right away this visit and had labs done and fluids running within an hour. While that is not always possible as critical cases come first, I appreciated how quickly things were progressed.I had Dr. Yerovi both times I was here and he is absolutely incredible. He really takes the time to find out what is going on with your pet and explains each step of the process to you. He checked on us multiple times to see how my dog was doing and to update me on new results. Not only did was my dog treated and feeling better quickly, but he gave me referrals for ongoing care. The vet techs were phenomenal and the sweetest people you could possibly have working in this type of environment. They were so kind to my dog and patient with his care/diagnostic testing. While I know working in an emergency vet, you are seeing unfortunate cases over long hours, I really appreciated everyone the staff showing up with a smile on their face and bringing kindness to every encounter.I would recommend VEG Union 1000x over to anybody in the area. You will be well taken care of and your pet is in the best hands. Cannot thank everyone enough for all that you do! - Marissa Cook

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) Union is strategically located at 2317 US-22, Union, NJ 07083, USA. This prime location along a major highway, US-22, makes it incredibly accessible for pet owners throughout Union County and surrounding areas in New Jersey. US-22 is a significant and easily navigable route, ensuring that reaching the emergency hospital is straightforward, even in stressful situations. Its central positioning in Union allows for quick response times for residents coming from nearby towns such as Cranford, Maplewood, Springfield, Summit, and Westfield.

The hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring that emergency care is always available, regardless of the time of day or night. Features / Highlights

  • 24/7 Availability and Immediate Triage: A paramount feature is their continuous operation. Regardless of when an emergency strikes, VEG Union is open. Clients are triaged immediately upon arrival, and as one review highlights, even with a busy team, labs were done and fluids running within an hour, demonstrating remarkable efficiency when it counts.

  • "Stay Together" Policy: VEG uniquely allows pet owners to "stay with your pet the entire time," from triage to treatment and even during procedures like endoscopy. This eliminates the stressful "waiting and wondering in a lobby" experience common in other emergency vets, fostering peace of mind and active involvement in care.

  • Exceptional and Compassionate Veterinary Team: Veterinarians like Dr. Yerovi and Dr. Cabral receive glowing praise for being "absolutely incredible." They are deeply knowledgeable, take time to explain every step, provide frequent updates, and demonstrate genuine care for pets. The vet techs are consistently described as "phenomenal," "sweetest people," and "so kind and patient."

  • Transparency and Upfront Cost Estimates: VEG is highly regarded for its honesty regarding costs. They provide estimates upfront and, in one instance, even over-estimated the bill, resulting in a refund. This transparency, despite high emergency vet costs, builds immense trust.

  • Efficient and Collaborative Teamwork: The staff at VEG Union are noted for working "very well as a team." Even during busy periods with multiple critical patients, they manage to expedite care, perform diagnostics quickly, and maintain seamless communication, showcasing their strong coordination and professionalism.

  • Focus on Reducing Stress: VEG consciously aims to make scary situations "less stressful" for pets and owners. This includes vets sitting on the floor with pets or treating them where they are most comfortable, contributing to a calmer environment.

  • High Level of Professionalism (even for human medicine professionals): The fact that clients working in human medicine were highly impressed by the care and felt reassured, despite initial nervousness about differences in animal vs. human medicine, speaks volumes about the professional standards at VEG Union.
