What is worth choosing
Choosing the Veterinary Eye Center of New York City is an essential decision for any New York pet owner whose companion has a complex or urgent eye condition. The most significant reason to choose this clinic is its highly specialized expertise. Unlike a general animal hospital, VEC focuses exclusively on veterinary ophthalmology, which means their team of board-certified doctors and technicians has a depth of knowledge and experience in eye care that is unmatched. This specialization allows them to diagnose and treat intricate conditions, from glaucoma and cataracts to corneal ulcers, with precision and effectiveness. For a pet with a serious eye problem, this level of focused expertise can be the difference between preserving vision and losing it.
Another compelling reason is their collaborative, referral-based model. By working in close communication with your primary veterinarian, VEC ensures that your pet's eye health is managed as part of their overall well-being, rather than as an isolated issue. This integrated approach provides peace of mind, knowing that a team of professionals is working together for your pet’s best interests. The efficiency of the clinic is also a major benefit. For time-sensitive issues like glaucoma, the ability to get a fast appointment and prompt treatment can be critical. This dedication to rapid response for urgent cases highlights their commitment to their patients' health and a willingness to go the extra mile.
Finally, the clinic’s welcoming and modern environment, combined with a compassionate staff, makes the experience as pleasant as possible. From a well-kept facility to a team that offers water and admiration for a nervous pup, they create a comfortable atmosphere that helps to alleviate the stress of a specialist visit. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I work at an emergency vet hospital and often refer clients to VEC. One of my coworkers also worked there and highly recommended it. When it was my turn to take my own dog in, I was nervous but the staff made me feel so at ease. The receptionists were very welcoming, offering me water and admiring my pup. The clinic is well kept and modern. The wait time was basically nonexistent, we were seen very quickly! Dr. Hanes and the technician (I forgot her name but she as lovely as was the assistant) were very thorough and informative. I was a little hesitant at first due to the pricing, but my dog deserves the best and they truly are! Hopefully I won’t need to come back but if he ever has eye issues again, this will be my go to spot. Thank you all so much!
July 26 · Lucia LopezThank you for Dr.Minella and Kairin💜My May got Glaucoma and he should get a surgery really urgently. I went there on Monday and they scheduled a surgery on that Thursday. I really appreciated that fast process that I can protect his remaining eye. The follow-up examinations were also perfect.Sending all my love!
August 29 · Do Gyeong HanI brought my kitten Cowboy here for a dermoid cyst. Dr. Hanes was very thorough with his consult, surgery, and follow up visit. He was able to show me a new growth! The techs all are lovely and show my kitten lots of love. They use fear free techniques to keep Cowboy comfortable. Booking online made this much easier as well. After my veterinarian referred me here, I was able to get an appointment for the very next day. The receptionists are amazing as well! They are both sweet and helpful. I’m always happy to make the long drive to Long Island City to get the best care for my boy. I’m happy to also refer clients here due to the outstanding level of care. Thank you so much Dr. Hanes and team!! :)
May 01 · Taliyah SchehrDr M and her staff have been incredibly kind, patient, and proficient at treating our cat’s corneal ulcers. Throughout the process they advised us on how we could fix the issues step by step. Additionally, after every visit we received a stepwise document on how to treat at home appropriately between visits for administering various medications. Finally and most importantly, Dr M and the staff have been very responsive, even after office hours, to any questions we have had.Although ultimately our cat’s corneal ulcers required surgery, the outcome has been very positive and I would go back to this team for any future eye problems.
August 08 · Achintya AshokThe Best Vet Experience I've Ever Had!I came to the center feeling nervous and worried about my teacup Yorkie’s advanced cataracts, but the kind and personable staff immediately put me at ease. They took the time to explain everything clearly, breaking down complex medical information in a way that was easy to understand and reassuring. They also sent us home with hyper-detailed information packets to make sure we understood the next steps and had resources to support our dogs care.Beyond my own experience, the real proof was my dog’s reaction—she was completely relaxed and comfortable, letting the staff handle her in ways she normally only allows with family. That level of trust speaks volumes. If you're looking for an exceptional veterinary ophthalmologist in a warm, supportive environment with people who genuinely care, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!
