Veterinary Orthopedic Surgery Center Introduce
For pet owners in Missouri, finding specialized veterinary care for complex conditions is crucial, especially when it comes to mobility-limiting orthopedic issues like ligament tears, fractures, or elbow dysplasia. The **Veterinary Orthopedic Surgery Center (VOSC)** in Wentzville, MO, addresses this critical need by operating as an orthopedic-only specialty practice dedicated to helping small animals—primarily dogs and cats—return to the activities they love while eliminating or greatly reducing their discomfort.
The VOSC is built on a foundation of providing unparalleled client satisfaction and patient care. Orthopedic conditions are unfortunately common in pets, leading to progressive arthritis, chronic pain, limping, and an overall reluctance to engage in their usual playful activities. For this reason, choosing a specialist surgeon and a dedicated facility is of paramount importance to ensure the best possible outcome with fewer complications. This practice sets itself apart by focusing intensely on the three core principles of **Patient Outcome**, **Patient Safety**, and **Client Satisfaction**.
At the heart of the center is Dr. Ryan Birks, a highly accomplished **board-certified small animal surgeon** through the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). Dr. Birks and his specialist-trained staff provide the highest level of surgical and anesthetic care. The commitment of the VOSC team goes beyond the procedure itself; they are available before, during, and long after the surgery, offering continuous communication and follow-up. One pet owner highlighted this exceptional commitment when Dr. Birks responded quickly to a nonemergent question over the weekend, even though the office was closed. This level of dedication is what local users value highly.
The facility provides a comprehensive experience, from the initial orthopedic examination and diagnosis to advanced surgical procedures and post-operative pain management. The team's use of minimally invasive techniques, such as arthroscopy, is a key focus, designed to reduce surgical discomfort, shorten hospitalization time, and speed up recovery for beloved pets. Clients frequently mention the compassionate care, with one noting the staff's incredible attention, giving "love and cuddles" to their dog before discharge, hoping for a speedy recovery. This blend of cutting-edge surgical skill and genuine compassion makes VOSC a leading referral center for orthopedic needs in the region.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- My 10 month old lab, Dozer, had an arthroscopy on his elbow. The staff at Veterinary Orthopedic Surgery Center were beyond amazing during the whole process. They took great care of my dog during surgery and overnight. I received a phone call letting me know his surgery was starting, once his surgery was completed, that night informing me how he was progressing, and the next morning to let me know how he did overnight. When I went to pick him up the next afternoon, multiple people came to give him love and cuddles before seeing us off; hoping for a speedy recovery. I also was emailed pictures and videos of his surgery which was amazing to see! During the following weekend, I had a nonemergent question regarding Dozer's stitches and Dr. Birks responded quickly, even though the office was closed. The only thing that I wish they had was a CT scanner on site. Unfortunately, they had to refer me to another hospital for a CT scan and I had to wait some time to hear back about the results (CT done on a Tuesday, did not hear from Dr. Birks about results until the following Monday with a few reminder phone calls from myself). Once I got the results, the turnaround time for surgery was really quick - surgery scheduled 2 days after.Dr. Birks answered all of my questions and did a through job explaining various parts of the surgery, results, and misc questions I had. If I ever need orthopedic services in the future, I absolutely will be coming back here! July 18 · Rebecca B
- My tiny Maltese dog had FHO surgery at Veterinary Surgery Center. I was worried about major surgery because he is 13 1/2 years old and had to spend one night at the hospital, but he did great! Dr Birk is a gifted surgeon and the entire staff was friendly, kind, and compassionate. This is definitely a 5-star facility and I highly recommend! July 11 · carole kane
- Dr. Birks took as much time as we needed to explain our dog’s condition (torn CrCl and patellar subluxation), treatment options and expected recovery time. After surgery the staff called when she went to surgery, completion of surgery, later in the evening and the the following morning. The staff were awesome. We loved the entire line of communications and thorough explanation of post op recovery. A bit of a drive, but very much worth the 45 minute drive. We highly recommended them for your pet’s orthopedic issues!! August 06 · Boris Jelercic
- Absolutely best care ever! Even while out of the county on vacation, the doctor was emailing me back everyday about Cyrus's care. The office staff is wonderful and always helpful , easy to reach . They all go above and beyond. I wouldn't ever go anywhere else August 22 · Latisha Graham
- There were a few administrative hiccups initially with setting up for surgery for my dog, but veterinary orthopedic surgery center took care of the initial issues and got us on track. Looking forward to working with them to get my dog back in shape.6 weeks later we are struggling to keep our lab from overdoing it. The surgery and recovery have gone great. Dr. Birks did a great job and we are very happy with the results. May 15 · Darrell Bartz
