Veterinary Preventive Care, LLC, provides a comprehensive range of veterinary services, with a strong focus on preventative care to ensure your pet lives a long, healthy, and happy life. Their offerings cover various aspects of pet health, designed to address needs at every stage of a pet's life:
Wellness Exams: Regular general health assessments are crucial for early detection of diseases. These exams may include blood tests, urinalysis, and parasite screenings, helping to identify health concerns in their earliest stages. Pets aged 7 years or older are recommended to have wellness exams twice a year.
Vaccinations and Immunizations: Critical for protecting pets from potentially deadly infectious diseases such as Distemper, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis, and Rabies in dogs, and Panleukopenia, Feline Leukemia Virus (FLV), and Rabies in cats. The doctors help decide which vaccines are appropriate based on your pet's risk factors.
New Puppy and New Kitten Packages: Tailored programs to support new pet owners during this critical time, including initial health assessments, vaccinations, deworming, and guidance on nutrition and behavior.
Parasite Control: Offering guidance on effective parasite control programs to protect against fleas, ticks, and internal parasites, which can transmit infections and diseases. This includes commercially available products to prevent infestations.
Microchipping: A simple yet effective way to prevent tragic loss. Identification microchips, about the size of a grain of rice, are implanted to help reunite lost pets with their families.
Preventive Medicine for Adults and Seniors: Focusing on early disease detection and wellness programs for older pets. As pets live longer, they may face increased issues with chronic illnesses and cancer; early diagnosis leads to better outcomes.
Diagnostic Services: Utilizing various diagnostic tools to assess your pet's health. While specific advanced diagnostics like extensive in-house labs beyond standard tests or complex imaging (MRI/CT) aren't detailed, a strong emphasis on wellness testing and early detection is present.
Basic Treatments for Minor Health Issues: Including antibiotics for minor health concerns. While they primarily focus on preventive care, they are equipped to address common ailments.
Spay and Neuter Services: These routine surgical procedures are vital for population control and offer significant health benefits, reducing the risk of certain cancers and behavioral issues.
Low-Cost Dentals: Highlighting a focus on affordable dental care, essential for maintaining overall pet health and preventing dental diseases.
Referral for Specialized Care: Although not explicitly stated as on-site for all advanced procedures (like specialized surgeries such as ophthalmology or complex orthopedics), a practice focused on preventative care often has strong referral networks for highly specialized needs, ensuring comprehensive care for your pet.
Veterinary Preventive Care, LLC, distinguishes itself through several unique and highly appreciated features:
Unmatched Compassion and Love for Animals: Customers consistently rave about the "kind team of caring and compassionate people" who are "dedicated to improving the quality of life for all animals." The review highlighting their care for "an old orphaned stray" and greeting a "9-week-old kitten with hugs and kisses, so much LOVE!" exemplifies their deep affection for pets.
Genuine Care Beyond the Job: One customer specifically noted, "it was clear to see they actually love the pets and don’t just care about the job/check." This underscores a profound commitment to animal well-being that goes beyond mere professional duty.
Thorough and Educational Approach: During exams, they "take their time to really listen and gather all the facts to establish a plan of care." They also offer unique, engaging experiences, such as inviting pet owners to "listen to his heart during his exam," which fosters trust and understanding.
Welcoming and Friendly Environment: The staff are described as "super friendly and welcoming," contributing to a comfortable and positive experience for both pets and their owners. The inclusion of "Star Wars decorations everywhere" adds a fun, unique, and personal touch that many families appreciate, making the clinic feel less clinical and more inviting.

A kind team of caring and compassionate people who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for all animals, even an old orphaned stray whose only home is the mean streets of Dayton, Ohio. Thanks again for helping him!
Jun 11, 2025 · Jessica LaMondeTook our 9 week old kitten for his first appointment - he was greeted with hugs and kisses, so much LOVE! Having been to multiple other vets in the past for other animals, it was clear to see they actually love the pets and don’t just care about the job/check. They were all super friendly and welcoming, and even offered to let us listen to his heart during his exam - which was something I never thought about before, but it’s one of those things that makes you realize you’re in a good place. Plus, there were Star Wars decorations everywhere which we loved🤭
Jun 17, 2025 · Callie OwensThe best veterinarian place in town! Dr. Barb always goes the extra mile. She takes a solid 15-20 minutes just to hang out with my cat, making him comfortable before starting any examination. She always has the best tips and tricks. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. I cannot thank them enough and highly recommend them to anyone! My “little” Rupert is always very happy :).
Jul 09, 2024 · Emily GirasoleMonday my 1.5 yr old Pibull was in an awful state. She had 10 seizures the night before and 3 more since I had arrived home. I was so heartbroken and called Veterinary Preventative Care and they saw her immediately even though it was close to closing. I truly believe they saved her life and I will be forever grateful for their compassionate care and generosity. They gave of themselves when they didn't have to. I am forever grateful. Sue and all the other staff are the absolute best. Your pet will be in great hands and I promise you won't be disappointed.
Apr 23, 2025 · MIt's quite apparent that the staff loves their animal patients. Everybody is so sweet and caring. The veterinarian explains everything she does very thoroughly and made very helpful recommendations. I completely trust them with the care of my kitten!
