VetUrgency Introduce
For pet owners in Maryland, the health and well-being of their furry family members are always a top concern. Sometimes, however, a pet's health issue arises after regular veterinary office hours or over the weekend, when immediate attention is needed but it's not a life-threatening emergency requiring a full 24/7 ER. This is precisely where VetUrgency in Frederick, MD, fills a vital gap. Founded by a group of veterinarians, VetUrgency is dedicated to providing quality and compassionate veterinary care for non-life-threatening conditions during evenings and weekends. For Maryland locals, this means peace of mind, knowing there’s a trusted option for prompt and efficient care when their regular vet is closed.
VetUrgency is conveniently located at 434 Prospect Blvd #6400, Frederick, MD 21701, USA. This central location in Frederick, within the Festival Shopping Center, offers excellent accessibility for pet owners throughout Frederick County and beyond in Maryland. Its proximity to major routes like I-70, I-340, and US-15 makes it easy to reach from various parts of the state, which is crucial when your pet needs prompt attention. VetUrgency's operating hours are specifically designed to complement regular vet clinics: Monday and Tuesday from 6 PM to 12 AM, closed on Wednesdays, Thursday and Friday from 6 PM to 12 AM, and Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 12 AM. This schedule makes it an ideal solution for unexpected illnesses or injuries that occur when your primary veterinarian's office is closed, providing a much-needed service for busy Maryland pet parents.
VetUrgency specializes in urgent, non-life-threatening conditions that require prompt veterinary attention but do not necessitate intensive care or complex surgery typically found in a 24/7 emergency hospital. Their services are designed to address a wide range of common ailments and minor injuries.
- **Urgent Care for Illnesses:** This includes treatment for conditions such as ear, eye, and skin infections; coughing and sneezing; vomiting or diarrhea; not eating or drinking; lethargy or depression; fever; and urinary tract infections.
- **Urgent Care for Injuries:** They handle minor wounds or lacerations, limping, torn or broken nails, and provide assessment for fractures.
- **Toxin or Poison Ingestion:** While life-threatening poisonings might require a full ER, VetUrgency can assess and provide initial treatment for certain toxin ingestions.
- **Diagnostic Services:** To quickly ascertain the issue, they offer basic diagnostics, which may include blood analysis and digital X-rays to check for internal issues or fractures.
- **Medication and Treatment:** Prescribing and administering necessary medications to treat the diagnosed conditions, such as antibiotics for infections or anti-inflammatories for pain.
- **Walk-In Service:** VetUrgency operates on a walk-in basis, meaning appointments are not typically required, although calling ahead is recommended to assess current wait times and availability.
- **Referral to Primary Vet or ER:** While they handle urgent cases, if a pet's condition is determined to be life-threatening or requires overnight hospitalization or major surgery, VetUrgency will provide immediate stabilization and refer the pet to a full emergency animal hospital or specialist.
VetUrgency distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that are consistently appreciated by Maryland pet owners.
- **Convenient After-Hours and Weekend Availability:** This is arguably their most significant highlight, providing a crucial service when primary veterinary clinics are closed. For busy families or unexpected incidents, this accessibility is invaluable.
- **Efficient and Prompt Service:** Clients often commend the quick intake process, with pets getting into an exam room swiftly. This efficiency is critical for urgent care situations, reducing stress for both pets and owners.
- **Kind, Informative, and Compassionate Staff:** The team at VetUrgency consistently receives high praise for their friendly, kind, and compassionate demeanor. They are noted for explaining everything thoroughly, making owners feel well-informed and supported throughout their pet's treatment.

- **Thoughtful Follow-up:** The gesture of sending a "get well soon" card, as noted by a grateful client, demonstrates a level of personalized care and thoughtfulness that resonates deeply with pet owners, highlighting their genuine concern for the animals they treat.

VetUrgency Reviews
Wonderful experience bringing my cat here during a weekday evening. We need more after hours places like this! Everyone was very kind and informative through the whole process of treating my cat. He is already doing so much better! Highly recommend!
Jun 05, 2025 · Kristina SmithOur dog’s ear was bothering him and our regular vet didn’t have any available appointments as it was late in the week, so we took him to VetUrgency over the weekend. We were in a room within 5 minutes after walking in the door. The staff were very friendly and explained everything well. As we suspected, he had an ear infection and was prescribed medication to treat it and told to see his regular vet in 2-3 days. The price was a bit high but to be expected for the convenience. We just received a “get well soon” card signed by the staff, which my wife and I thought was very thoughtful. Our boy is doing much better now. I would recommend VetUrgency to anyone.
Mar 14, 2025 · Eric McDonaldWe arrived late in the evening with our senior dog who was in extreme discomfort and we had no idea what to expect. I can't say enough good things about VetUrgency. Greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in. The staff were all caring, compassionate, and thorough. They took the time to explain the different scenarios (diagnosis) and walked us through the treatment plan and pricing upfront. Thank you for taking care of our fur baby!
Aug 23, 2023 · Emily BarnesThis is the best urgent care I have ever been to. All of the staff was terrific. Dr. Fedje and Brittany, vet tech, treated us and my dog with so much care and love. They made us feel comfortable leaving him there for a quick procedure. They were upfront with all estimates and costs prior to completing any procedures. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an urgent care for your animal!
Mar 12, 2025 · Taylor GreenEveryone was patient and courteous. I appreciated the friendliness of the entire staff. In spite of being busy, they all acted like they kind of had time to talk to me as I was rambling (which I do when I’m worried about my puppy). They were efficient (important to me) and saw my dog quickly after the triage call. The location is convenient for me and they are partnered with my dog’s vet which is a plus . Everyone was professional and we would come back in a heart beat if the need arose again. They are very deserving of the high score reviews
