What is worth choosing Village Veterinary Clinic?
Choosing a veterinarian is a deeply personal decision, and for many in the Hemlock area, Village Veterinary Clinic has been a trusted choice for a very long time. The clinic's most significant asset is its history and the relationships that Dr. Mike has built with his clients over the years. This "old school" approach, where a veterinarian knows your dog's history over a decade, is a level of personal care that is increasingly rare to find. For long-term clients, this trust is invaluable, as they have seen firsthand the consistent and dedicated service provided by Dr. Mike and his team.
The clinic's focus on essential services—including wellness exams, surgery, and radiology—means it provides the core care that most pets need throughout their lives. This straightforward approach ensures that the clinic can dedicate its resources to the fundamental aspects of animal health, which is what truly matters to most pet owners.
It's also worth noting the positive feedback regarding the doctor's dedication, with clients appreciating his genuine care. The fact that the clinic is not taking new clients at this time speaks to a business model that prioritizes the well-being of its current patients and maintains a high standard of care for them. This focus on existing relationships is a testament to the loyalty and respect that the clinic has earned over its many years in the Hemlock community.
While the clinic's practices may not suit everyone's preferences, especially those who desire to be present in the exam room, the long-term clients who remain with the clinic do so because they have experienced the core of Dr. Mike's care: a knowledgeable and dedicated doctor who has been a constant in their pet's life. For these long-standing Michigan families, Village Veterinary Clinic is more than just a place; it's a part of their pet care history, and that is what makes it a choice worth keeping.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We have been taking our dogs to Doctor Mike for many years. He has always been very personable and easy to work with. I have never had any complaints, and I have always felt that I was treated fairly until recently. I know that Doctor Mike is thinking about retirement and is not taking on any new clients and this may have led to the last experience I had with them.Doctor Mike typically does not allow clients in the office and has his assistants come out come and get your animal, take it in the office come out and then talk to you after he has performed whatever service or procedure that he feels needs to be done. However, I had an issue concerning one of my dogs, that he has been seeing and treating for nearly 12 years, that I really needed to discuss with Doctor Mike personally. When I requested to come into the clinic the office staff refused to let me go into the clinic to speak with him. Moreover Dr. Mike refused to come out and speak with me personally. I had to talk to him through one of his assistants who was not knowledgeable about anything and was quite rude and condescending. This really turned me off. (Now I must mention here that Doctor Mike has allowed me to come into the clinic when I had to have a dog euthanized, but he does not allow pet owners to come into the clinic for checkups or other services). So, for my money, when the veterinarian will not speak to me personally, it is time for me to find a new veterinarian. Doctor Mike has been very personable in the past with us and has treated us fairly but after this last interaction with the clinic I can no longer recommend him in good faith, nor can I continue to use his clinic in good faith. I'm sure that Doctor Mike doesn't really care about his Google ratings anymore since he is not taking new clients and I'm sure that this will not affect his business; however, I had to post something in good faith because I believe that this clinic no longer offers the professional and personal type services that are required for pet owners. So, while I do appreciate Doctor Mike’s service to me in the past, I can no longer recommend him and for the life of me after reading the recent reviews on Google, I cannot understand why his remaining clients are still allowing themselves to be treated so indifferently. It really is time for Doctor Mike to retire as it is clear to me that he no longer really cares about his clients.
April 14 · Rudolph HatfieldGreat staff and super great doctor. Old school ways, very personable. Only down side is they are not taking any new clients.
October 28 · Ivan WoodIf I could give 0 stars I would. Worst vet I've ever been to in my life. They sedated my cat without my knowledge and I had asked to be told what was happening before they did anything. They did xrays without my knowledge and without my consent and made me pay in full. Dr yelled at me and told me to get out when I asked why they did the x ray and I asked for a partial refund because I was upset that they told me beforehand on the phone they wouldn't do anything without my consent. Dr has no record of ever giving my cat an gray besides a handwritten note card that says she had an xray. My pets have been treated here for years and my family's pets too. After MANY OTHER bad experiences we will not support them any longer.
February 24 · Mykenzie MonroeMy wife called to inquire about scheduling an appointment for our cat, the receptionist rudely cut her off mid sentence and said they aren’t taking in any new patients and abruptly hung up. This place isn’t worth your time. Other clinics we called were much more professional and polite.
December 28 · NicI will never be taking my dog here again they did surgery on his ear and I told them I think his ear is infected and they told me no and I had to go in 4 different times to get his stitches out and they wanted me to go back in for a 5 time to get the rest of the stitches out and I told them I was moving. So I took my dog in to a different vet and they told me that he does have an infection where he had the surgery on his ear and they removed the last 2 stitches and they was no purpose that they were still in his ear because they weren’t holding anything
