I honestly do not understand how West Glen still has a 4.8 review on Google. They are a corporatized practice and will let your pet die if it benefits their bottom line. I've never had so much difficulty getting my cat veterinary care. My partner, who is on SSI, made the mistake of getting his health certificate for his service dog here. Upfront, they told him it would be $98. Then, at the appointment, they charged him $400. My cat was diagnosed with kidney disease. I was told to put her on special cat food, and then when I put the order in, it was rejected because I had to go through their system and they refuse to approve medications because they want everyone to use their system. Because I am a busy professional, this meant I could not manage my cat's condition for at least half a month. Now I am being advised they have to see her before they will approve her Revolution (it is now spring, and she is out) and likely her special prescription diet, which basically means they need another $400 or she can just die a miserable death as far as they are concerned. This is a cruel, heartless practice, and I advise everyone to go elsewhere.BTW, I liked West Glen before it turned corporate. I had vets who actually cared about animals and worked with you on costs.I also want to note that my dad and his wife also left West Glen for another vet, after West Glen wanted to charge them thousands of dollars for treatment for their dog. They went to another vet and were given a much more rational treatment plan. Trust me, this vet is in it for the money. - Robyn Keefe

Westglen Animal Hospital Introduce

For pet owners in the Wildwood and greater St. Louis region of Missouri, choosing a trusted, full-service provider for your animal's health is a crucial decision. Westglen Animal Hospital positions itself as a central hub for Animal Health Care, offering a vast range of services from preventative medicine to complex surgical procedures. Operating as a dedicated Animal Hospital, their mission is to provide consistent, high-quality Compassionate Veterinary Care for every patient, whether they are new puppies, playful kittens, or beloved Senior Pets.

The hospital is staffed by veterinarians and veterinary technicians who are committed to the long-term well-being of dogs and cats. They focus on establishing a solid foundation of Preventative Care, which includes regular Annual Physical Exams and comprehensive Vaccination Programs, while also being fully equipped to manage acute and chronic medical needs. Clients often note the caring and informative approach of the veterinarians, emphasizing their ability to clearly explain diagnoses and treatment plans. This dedication to detailed, personalized attention is a key component of the quality of Vet Care provided at Westglen.

However, potential clients should be aware that the hospital's operational policies, particularly concerning the refill of prescriptions and the financial side of care, have been points of contention for some members of the community. While the team is highly praised for their clinical knowledge and kindness, some reviews point to a stringent process for medication approval and concerns about the overall cost of services. The hospital does require a full physical exam for most prescription refills (often within the last 12 months, and more often for certain medications like those for chronic conditions), which is a common but sometimes financially challenging practice across the industry to ensure patient safety and maintain a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship. Prospective clients are advised to inquire about all associated costs, including those for necessary re-exams for medication refills, at the time of booking an appointment.
