American Bird Company Reviews
I currently have 4 birds from them and they have great variety of bird. I feel like the negative comments on these reviews mostly come out of people that don’t know how to take care of birds or don’t know how much work they can be. I have my birds for over 10 years now and I still come here cause not only they charge very low prices on boarding services but they also do grooming for FREE!!!The negative reviews talk about the aspect of the building/place like if this is not a pet place… I see some comments stating that “birds don’t have feathers” well… they are BABIES (base on the pictures they posted)!!!All I have to say is that you should come and take a look for yourself, they have knowledge stuff and if you REALLY know about birds you will see that they really care otherwise just ask them so the can inform you; just like I did at some point…
Aug 07, 2024 · Walter GironWe stopped by here to look. My daughter really wants a bird. We’re undecided about the commitment. As we looked around at the birds we were impressed with the number and types of birds that they had. The store is small, which I have found is typical of independent pet stores, but the love and attention that they give their birds makes all of the difference. The young birds are still hand fed with a syringe. They wait until they are well trained and socialized before selling them. They also wait to clip their wings until they have fully developed. You can put down a deposit on a bird and then wait to take possession until the bird is ready. You can also board your bird there.Kency was really terrific. She brought out her bird, Snowball, a super loving cockatoo, and let us handle him. We also held a young cockatiel and a love bird. She was so patient and it was obvious that she loves the birds. She made my daughter super happy which was such a blessing. This is a small store, family owned and operated. On our second visit we met the owner, Ed. The customer service is intimate and they are caring people. We love the store and will be back
Apr 24, 2022 · Preston BurnsI had a lot of hope for this shop after passing by it for so many years, and was extremely disappointed. Barely walked into the door and the smell is horrible, even for a pet shop. The entire building is stuffy, hot, smelly, and infested with mice. When you walk around the birds are in small cages, multiple birds cramped in, cages all squished together, and all their water bowls are filled with bird sh*t. There was feather plucking evident in majority of the macaws, a sign of stress and negligence. When I asked to see a bird that was “hand fed” it was extremely skiddish, and when it fell the guy working there pulled the bird by the tail to pick it up. He also lied about the price over the phone the IRN was 1200 and when I came in it was suddenly 1500!! My daughter was in there for around 10 minutes and she was sneezing and wheezing for 2 days because of the filth! Someone needs to help these poor birds they are clearly being neglected and forever to drink and sit in their own filth.
Jun 14, 2025 · Asma AhmadI brought my birds here for rehoming but when I saw the situation with other birds, I changed my mind! Some birds look fine but there are like at least 6 or 8 giant red/green parrots that they were starving and thirsty AH! Also, there is a lot of smell inside which is very unhealthy to all of those beautiful birds. There are flies all around the environment. I actually really felt bad for those 8 giant parrots, they were actually very weak due to no food or water. If I had more space, I would have rescued more of them besides my birds but unfortunately I can’t! If you guys don’t believe me, go head and experience it yourself and you will see what I mean. Someone please do something about these birds, if you all can report it to Fairfax county or any other big companies please go head and do it because otherwise these beautiful birds will die eventually!
Mar 28, 2025 · ZameerHorrible living conditions, loud, unsanitary, and stressful. The smell is unbearable, many others have complained of this too. Needs to be reported. The birds have done nothing to deserve this life.
