Blue Zoo Aquatics Introduce
For the vibrant community of marine aquarium enthusiasts across California, finding a reliable and comprehensive source for healthy saltwater fish, corals, and invertebrates is a critical aspect of their hobby. In Gardena, California, Blue Zoo Aquatics stands as a well-known name in the specialized world of marine life, serving both local customers and a national online clientele. This establishment aims to be a leading provider of high-quality marine specimens and the essential supplies needed to cultivate thriving reef and fish-only aquariums.
The passion for marine aquariums in California is strong, with hobbyists constantly seeking diverse and healthy specimens, along with expert guidance. Blue Zoo Aquatics strives to meet this demand by offering a vast selection of marine life and accompanying products. While they aim to provide a comprehensive and positive experience, it's important for potential customers to be aware that, like any business dealing with live animals and complex logistics, individual experiences can vary, and challenges can arise. This article will provide a factual overview of Blue Zoo Aquatics, detailing its location, services, features, and key considerations for local Californians interested in marine aquariums.
Blue Zoo Aquatics is headquartered at 13609 Alma Ave, Gardena, CA 90249, USA. This address places it within the city of Gardena, situated in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County. While Alma Avenue itself might be a quieter street, Gardena benefits from a robust network of major roads, ensuring that the facility is accessible for customers traveling from within Gardena and from surrounding Southern California communities like Torrance, Carson, Lawndale, and Hawthorne. For a specialized business like Blue Zoo Aquatics, particularly one with a significant online presence, its physical location serves as a central hub for operations, allowing for efficient packing and dispatch of live orders, as well as providing a local point of contact for inquiries.
For Californians, easy access to specialized pet resources is highly valued, particularly when dealing with delicate live marine animals or bulky aquarium equipment. While many of Blue Zoo Aquatics' operations cater to online orders and shipping, their physical presence in Gardena provides a tangible base for their extensive inventory and customer service functions. This strategic location in a major metropolitan area ensures that logistics for both local pickups (if offered, though primarily an online retailer) and nationwide shipping are optimized, thereby serving the broader marine aquarium community efficiently.
Online Sales of Saltwater Fish & Corals: Blue Zoo Aquatics' primary service is the sale of a vast array of saltwater fish, live corals (including SPS, LPS, and soft corals), and various marine invertebrates (such as snails, starfish, and shrimp) through their e-commerce platform. This allows them to serve a wide customer base beyond their physical location.
LiveStock Guarantee: Blue Zoo Aquatics typically offers a "LiveStock Guarantee" on their marine animals, which generally covers animals that arrive Dead on Arrival (DOA) or pass away within a specified period after delivery (often 7 days). This policy usually involves credit for future purchases rather than direct refunds, and may require customers to cover reshipping costs for replacements, as highlighted by customer reviews.
Aquarium Supplies and Equipment: While their focus is on live animals, they also offer a range of essential aquarium supplies and equipment necessary for setting up and maintaining saltwater environments. This would include salt mixes, test kits, lighting, filtration, and other accessories.
Educational Resources: Their website often features educational articles and acclimation guides to help customers properly introduce and care for their new marine animals, demonstrating a commitment to responsible pet ownership.
Shipping Services: Blue Zoo Aquatics provides shipping services for their live marine animals across the country, utilizing specialized packaging to ensure the health and safety of the specimens during transit. Shipping costs are typically borne by the customer.
Customer Service Support: They offer customer support via phone and email to address inquiries regarding orders, livestock, and general aquarium questions. However, some customer reviews indicate inconsistencies in communication and problem resolution, particularly concerning shipping delays or livestock issues.
Extensive Marine Livestock Selection: Blue Zoo Aquatics is known for offering a very broad and diverse selection of saltwater fish, corals, and invertebrates, catering to a wide range of marine aquarium hobbyists, from beginners to advanced enthusiasts. This extensive inventory is a significant draw.
Online Accessibility: Their robust e-commerce platform makes their specialized inventory accessible to customers nationwide, providing convenience for those who may not have a local marine-specific store.
Livestock Guarantee Policy: The company offers a livestock guarantee, which, despite customer concerns about its terms (e.g., credit vs. refund, reshipping costs), shows a formal commitment to the health of their animals upon arrival. This policy is standard in the online live animal trade.
Specialized Packaging: To ensure the safe transit of delicate marine life, Blue Zoo Aquatics employs specialized packing methods, including insulated boxes and heat/cold packs as needed.
It is important for potential customers to be aware of the following, as highlighted in public reviews:
Customer Service Consistency: Several reviews indicate challenges with customer service, including issues with communication (e.g., not being notified of stock shortages or shipping delays due to alleged "phone and email problems") and resolution of problems (e.g., only offering credit for dead livestock and requiring customers to pay for reshipping).
Product Availability Accuracy: Concerns have been raised about the accuracy of real-time stock availability on their website, leading to orders being placed for items that are not truly in stock.
Credit vs. Refund Policy: Customers have expressed dissatisfaction with their policy of offering credit for lost livestock rather than full refunds, especially when coupled with the requirement to pay for re-shipping the replacement items.

For marine aquarium enthusiasts in Gardena and across California, Blue Zoo Aquatics presents itself as a significant, albeit nuanced, resource for saltwater fish, corals, and invertebrates. Its primary suitability for locals, particularly those dedicated to the reef-keeping hobby, lies in its extensive and specialized inventory that can be difficult to find in more general pet stores. Californians looking for a wide variety of specific marine species or unique corals will likely find Blue Zoo Aquatics to be a comprehensive source.
The convenience of their online ordering system and nationwide shipping capabilities means that even if a local brick-and-mortar store doesn't have a specific exotic fish or coral, Blue Zoo Aquatics offers a vast selection accessible from anywhere in California. Their livestock guarantee, while having specific terms, demonstrates a formalized commitment to the viability of the animals they ship.
However, it is crucial for potential customers to approach Blue Zoo Aquatics with a clear understanding of certain aspects, as highlighted by customer reviews. The concerns regarding inconsistent customer service, issues with communication about stock availability, and the policy of offering credits instead of refunds for dead-on-arrival livestock, particularly when customers are expected to pay for re-shipping, are important considerations. This means that while the selection is a major draw, customers should be prepared to potentially navigate these service challenges.
Ultimately, for Californians whose priority is accessing a wide and specialized array of marine life for their aquariums, Blue Zoo Aquatics remains a relevant option. Its substantial product offering caters directly to a niche market that often requires extensive sourcing. While managing expectations regarding customer service and specific guarantee terms is advisable, for the sheer breadth of saltwater aquatic options, Blue Zoo Aquatics is a noteworthy, albeit sometimes challenging, part of the California marine aquarium landscape.

Blue Zoo Aquatics Reviews
thief's - Shipped me some snails and starfish of which half were dead. Only would give me a credit and were going to make me pay for the shipping to resend the order of the livestock that was lost - I was going to have to re-pay the shipping just to get what I originally ordered. I have a $90 credit that I cannot now use with this company. I filed a complaint with the Better Business BureauDo not do business with this company they will rip you offI would give them negative stars if I could but I have to apparently give them at least one to file the complaint.
Apr 04, 2025 · Bret A (escape today!)Placed and order on June 11th for 6 Blue Velvet slugs, 7 peppermint shrimp and free lawnmower blenny ($275.00 total). Order was to be delivered on June 16th. When it didn't show near noon I called. Only to be told that they only had 2 of the slugs (because they don't last long in their systems) and reason for not contacting me they had both email and phone problems. The chances of both being down at the same time and the lack of stock, but advertising it being available leaves little to be believed. I do not know a business owner that does not have a cell phone that could be used when a business line goes down. .. to recap, short on the slugs, phone was down, email was down. As a business owner myself, do better, there is a reason your ratings on review websites and forums are taking a beating. The reason appears to be you.
Jun 13, 2025 · Joe EI usually get fish locally, but I was very interested in a dwarf lion they had. Thankfully, being in SoCal I was hoping for the best with a short overnight shipping trip. This was the first time getting anything live for my tank shipped, and it went very well (I waited about 2 weeks to write review). Package arrived slightly early- the sooner acclimating the better. Fish were packed well. The dwarf lion looks beautiful, healthy, and fins were undamaged. The Valentini also looks healthy and good weight. Working on getting the dwarf lion to frozen, but the Valentini eats like a pig! Would order from them again.
May 07, 2024 · Alison SampleOrdered four fish from BlueZoo. Jawfish arrived dead. Angel and a wrasse died within days of each other in QT but after their guarantee without any outward sign of disease. (i.e. no one caught ich or velvet or any other disease the entire QT period) It was a clear indication of cyanide collection - as the fish were eating robustly right up until it died. (Cyanide increases metabolism and appetite) BlueZoo refused to give me a refund. Expensive fish, and no accountability, and if 3 of four fish die from an order - something is wrong. They didn't care. I've been QT'ingh fish and reefing for 30 years. Greg refused to answer repeated emails about the order. Avoid this retailer at all cost.
Feb 22, 2025 · Reef EcoOrdered a coral beauty and a tomato clownfish. Clownfish came in with either velvet or brookyl infection—too early to tell—several spots, a worm like thing stuck in his gill, and excessive mucus on the body. Not really pleased with the fact that you guys shipped me a sick fish. Beware!
