Robin Zimmers Pets highlights several features that contribute to its role as a long-standing pet provider in the Boyertown community:
- Long-Standing Family-Owned Business: Having been "open for 34 years" and being family-owned establishes a strong sense of local heritage and continuity, which can be appealing to community members who value supporting established local businesses.
- Wide Variety of Animals and Products: The store aims to be a "full-service pet shop," offering a broad range of pets from traditional puppies and kittens to specialized reptiles, birds, and fish, along with comprehensive supplies for each. This variety can attract a diverse customer base.
- Puppy Health Guarantee (with reported issues): Their website states that puppies are "health guaranteed." This is a stated feature, intended to provide assurance to customers regarding the health of their purchased pets.
- Community Connection (mixed perception): One review expresses profound gratitude for the "kindness and care" shown and for "entrusting me with such a precious soul," highlighting a positive, loving experience and the deep bond formed through the adoption of a puppy. This customer describes the pet as a "greatest gift" and "family," praising the initial interaction as filled with "respect, generosity, and love." This indicates that some customers have experienced very positive, life-changing connections through the store.
However, it is critically important for potential Pennsylvania customers to be aware of significant concerns raised in other public reviews, particularly regarding the health and origins of some animals, specifically puppies:
- Allegations of Puppy Mill Sourcing: A deeply distressing review explicitly alleges that "Zimmers Pets to be a puppy mill pet store," based on post-purchase research and a tragic outcome for their puppy. This is a severe accusation that raises significant ethical concerns about animal welfare and breeding practices.
- Health Guarantee Issues: The same review indicates that the "health guarantee" mentioned by the store was not honored when a puppy passed away prematurely from "congenital heart defects." The customer reported no response from the store after reaching out, leading to feelings of being "robbed and cheated" and accusing the store of "deceptive health-guaranteed puppies." This directly contradicts the positive claims of the guarantee and suggests a lack of accountability in some cases.
- Concerns about Animal Health and Longevity: The review details the sudden death of a 4-year-old Great Pyrenees from a congenital heart defect, prompting the owner to express shock and appall at "horrific stories about these animals and how so many people have suffered premature loss of their babies," implying a pattern of health issues in animals acquired from the store.
- Lack of Transparency/Communication Post-Sale: The unresponsiveness to a customer's inquiry about a health guarantee after their pet's death is a major concern regarding customer service and accountability. The customer's comment about wanting "a simple truthful comment when I chose him could have saved his life if I knew I’d need to pursue further testing" highlights a perceived lack of transparency regarding potential health risks.

Robin Zimmers Pets Reviews
Twelve years ago, you gave my daughter and I a gift that would change our life forever — our beloved Mr. Jersey Shore. From the moment he came into my world, he wasn’t just a pet — he became another child, our companion, our heart. I cannot put into words the depth of love and joy he has brought into my life every single day since.Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the incredible kindness and care you showed us back then, and for entrusting me with such a precious soul. The way you treated both me and Mr. Jersey Shore was filled with respect, generosity, and love — and I’ve never forgotten that.Because of you, Lexi & I are experiencing over a decade of unconditional love, loyalty, and tons laughter. He is truly the greatest gift we've ever received, and I will always be grateful to you for that. You gave us more than a dog — you gave us family. With all my heart,Vita aka Mr.Jersey Shore's Mamma
Jun 09, 2025 · Dolce VAngelaMy beautiful, sweet, loving Charlie boy came into my life in 2020 from Zimmers Pets. He was a great pyrenees full of love and happiness at all times. He passed away suddenly on Sunday… The vet says from congenital heart defects. I am heartbroken and devastated that my Charlie only lived to be 4… He was robbed of the life he deserved. I did my research after telling my co-workers and friends about my loss, and found Zimmers Pets to be a puppy mill pet store… I could say I wish I had done my research on them before I brought Charlie home, but then I would have never had the amazing 4 years I did with him. I am shocked and appalled to read the horrific stories about these animals and how so many people have suffered premature loss of their babies. I reached out asking what this supposed “health guarantee” is they mention on their website and if they will honor it since Charlie is gone… Nothing. Not even a reply. I’m so distraught and I can only blame the people who knew they gave me an unhealthy puppy from the start… I did everything I could to give him the life he deserved and I feel robbed and cheated. I hope you change your ways and do better by the animals and giving proper information from your “veterinarians”… A simple truthful comment when I chose him could have saved his life if I knew I’d need to pursue further testing and could have sought guidance on how to extend his lifespan as long as possible. You have to lay your heads down at night knowing you are crushing the hearts of your community with your deceptive health-guaranteed puppies. Shame on you… all of you.
Mar 18, 2025 · Kim WatkinsI’ve been to this place many times. Everytime I visit, it smells. And I see animals in bad conditions. Puppies scared and trembling. Sitting with their own Feces. Or sleeping the time away. The newer pups seem energetic until they are not. I once adopted a guinea that was near death. Balding and scared. I had her for a year and she still was terrified of me. I tried everything to make her comfortable. She screamed in fear anytime I tried to reach her. I don’t think they are treating these pets right behind closed doors. And they set most the animals at a cheap price. Besides the puppies. Someone has to do something, because these babies deserve so much better. The associates seem nice, but I can’t ignore the fact that the animals seem terrified and in distress. And a lot of the animals seem sick and in need of serious help. I just feel like I can’t stay quiet. We have to do SOMETHING. It hurts my heart. I want to save them ALL.
Apr 17, 2025 · Valkyri GraulEveryone was very attentive, accommodating, personable, helpful, and informative. Recently got two of the absolute sweetest pups from there. Started with one, and came back 2 days later to pick up on of her sister's. They've been a wonderful addition to our family ❤️ thank you to all the kind staff that assisted my fiance and myself through the process. Welcome, Ember and Dahlia.
Feb 27, 2025 · Frankie MadonnaLots of inventory regarding pet care, that may be harder to find at other pet stores. Pet care leaves something to be desired, but that isn’t uncommon with pet stores that sell live animals.Employees have always been kind to my family and I.
