ABC Animal Hospital Introduce
For pet owners residing in the vibrant and diverse neighborhoods of New York City, particularly those in the iconic East Village, finding a veterinary practice that offers both comprehensive services and compassionate care is essential. **ABC Animal Hospital**, located at 200 Avenue A, New York, NY, has been serving the community since 1998, aiming to provide a wide range of veterinary services for dogs and cats. This article aims to offer a clear, engaging, and informative overview of ABC Animal Hospital, helping local New Yorkers understand the scope of their offerings and the experiences reported by other pet owners.
A well-established animal hospital plays a crucial role in the health and well-being of our animal companions, providing everything from routine preventative care to advanced surgical interventions. ABC Animal Hospital prides itself on being a full-service animal hospital, equipped to handle various aspects of pet health. They state their mission is "to excel in the fields of veterinary medicine and surgery by providing a high-quality standard of patient care, and outstanding programs of client education, preventative health, and animal adoption, so that the community may benefit." Their commitment extends to working with local animal rescue organizations, demonstrating a broader dedication to animal welfare within the city.
Client experiences, however, can sometimes be varied, reflecting the complexities inherent in healthcare. One very positive review highlighted the efficiency and kindness of the office staff at ABC Animal Hospital, stating they "worked quickly to get us in and out and the staff were so kind and patient." The reviewer highly recommended the office for those who "LOVE your pet because they do too," expressing gratitude for the excellent treatment their "smokey boy" received, noting he was doing great a month later. This perspective emphasizes a positive and caring interaction, particularly from the front office team, and a satisfactory outcome for a beloved pet.
Conversely, another detailed review raised significant concerns regarding the professionalism and competence experienced during a visit for a dog requiring luxating patella surgery. This client reported an alarming lack of certainty from the veterinarian, Daniel Tufaro, when reviewing X-rays, stating he "corrected himself many different times." Furthermore, communication breakdowns regarding surgery scheduling were noted, with conflicting information about drop-off, surgery start times, and pick-up. The reviewer recounted a distressing situation on the day of surgery, including a 30-minute wait, witnessing staff poorly handle another client's issue by giving "an attitude" and making them cry, and being charged for a "pointless exam" that reiterated a previous diagnosis. The emotional toll was compounded by a perceived lack of "bedside manner" when the pet owner became upset. These serious concerns ultimately led the client to withdraw from seeking further treatment at ABC Animal Hospital and to advise others to "look elsewhere." Such feedback underscores the critical importance of consistent and clear communication, professional conduct, and the profound impact of a veterinarian's demeanor on a client's trust and peace of mind, especially when facing a pet's significant medical needs.
The **ABC Animal Hospital** is situated at **200 Avenue A, New York, NY 10009, USA**. This address places it squarely in the vibrant and easily recognizable East Village neighborhood of Manhattan. This area is known for its dynamic atmosphere and is a central hub for many New York City residents. For those who drive, parking in the East Village can be challenging, as is typical for most parts of Manhattan. However, the embedded presence within a residential and commercial area suggests it is a familiar and manageable destination for local pet owners seeking comprehensive care.

Dec 16, 2024 · Lyly GonzalezPlease, don’t bring your pet here. The “veterinarian” is forgetful and utterly incompetent. I recently brought my fur baby due to some issues she has been having when it comes to her back right leg. Needless to say she does need surgery due to a luxating patella. When going over the x-rays with Daniel Tufaro he was unsure what he was looking at as he corrected himself many different times while reviewing the images. This worried me & I became very hesitant. He agreed to schedule surgery after prescribing pain medication for my dog. When I called the following week to schedule the surgery I was informed over the phone to bring my pet in between 9 AM and 10 AM, the surgery will begin between 12 PM - 2 PM and I would be able to pick my pet up at 5 PM. The day of the surgery I arrived at 9:30 AM (no reminder call the day before from the office) where I was then told I need to wait for Daniel Tufaro because he didn’t remember what had to be done to my dog (🚩). While waiting I witnessed the assistants poorly handle a situation they made an error on. Instead of admitting they made a mistake they proceeded to give the woman an attitude as if it was her fault and made her cry (🚩). Finally after waiting 30 minutes for Daniel Tufaro, he began an exam to again diagnosis my pet with the same thing he had diagnosed her with the week prior to then later charge me for this pointless exam $75 (🚩). While in the room he informed me that the “surgery would be taking place around 7 PM and you wouldn’t hear from us until 10:30 PM, unless you’re sleeping we won’t call.” This was not the information they gave me over the phone when I called (🚩). I then became emotional at the fact of having to leave my fur baby overnight and the looked me dead in the face with no bedside manner “why are you crying?” (🚩). He gave me time to recollect myself and decide if I wanted to continue with the surgery but my mind was already made up. I couldn’t ignore the red flags and decided it was best to take my business elsewhere. I simply shared with him “I’ll call to reschedule,” obviously a lie. He simply responded with a “bye,” and walked out the room before I could say anything else. I am very secure with my decision walking out that office and never looking back. And I’m trying to warn others to look elsewhere for your pets treatment.
Sep 21, 2024 · Anamarie RodriguezDr. Tufaro and his staff are extremely nice and knowledgeable. They had everything they need it to make a rapid and accurate diagnosis of my Cosmo ( Jack Russell ). They explained everything that I needed to know about Cosmo’s condition and made sure that I understood. Service is great, pricing is reasonable and I totally love about Dr Tufaro’s honesty. I’m so glad I have found this clinic. They really do go above and beyond for their patients.
Apr 11, 2024 · Michelle LiLove this place. They actually pay attention to what you have to say. Don't over charge or ask for extra test that are not needed. Staff and vet are really friendly and they really care about your pets. Always get the best care when I go here.
Oct 04, 2024 · Gabriella SchillingI have been going to ABC for close to 20 years with 3 dogs and Dr Tufaro is the best. They have guided me through everying from a birth defect surgery, that was very successful, respiratory infections, teeth cleanings to end of life decisions. Dr. Tufaro is so knowledgeable and kind. The staff is the same. They ar professional but sweet and kind to you and your pups. It’s a safe place for you and your pups. I trust ABC 100%. Thank you for taking such good care of my pups.
