As a general veterinary practice, Almaden Animal Clinic typically offers a range of services designed to address common pet health needs. While specific detailed service lists can vary between clinics, a standard veterinary clinic like Almaden Animal Clinic often provides the following:
- Wellness and Preventive Care: Routine physical examinations are a cornerstone of pet health, helping to monitor overall well-being, detect early signs of illness, and track development. These check-ups are crucial for maintaining your pet's long-term health.
- Vaccinations: Essential vaccinations are administered to protect pets from common and serious infectious diseases. Vaccination schedules are typically customized to your pet's age, lifestyle, and potential exposure risks.
- Diagnostic Services: Veterinary clinics often utilize various diagnostic tools to assess a pet's health. This can include in-house laboratory testing for common analyses like blood work and urinalysis, as well as the ability to send out more specialized tests to external laboratories. Imaging services such as X-rays may also be available to aid in diagnosing internal conditions.
- General Medicine: Addressing a broad spectrum of medical conditions, from minor ailments and infections to more chronic health issues. This involves accurate diagnosis and the development of appropriate treatment plans.
- Surgical Procedures: Many general veterinary clinics perform common surgical procedures, which can include spaying and neutering. For more complex surgeries, referrals to specialist veterinary surgeons are often provided.
- Dental Care: Basic dental services, such as cleanings and examinations, are typically offered to help maintain a pet's oral health and prevent dental disease.
- Parasite Prevention and Control: Programs for the prevention and treatment of both internal (e.g., heartworms, intestinal worms) and external (e.g., fleas, ticks) parasites are common offerings to protect your pet's health.
- Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets and feeding plans can be provided, tailored to a pet's age, breed, weight management needs, or specific health conditions.
- Microchipping: This essential service helps in pet identification, significantly increasing the chances of reunification if a pet becomes lost.
Based on customer feedback, there appear to be mixed experiences at Almaden Animal Clinic. While one review offers high praise, another raises significant concerns. We will present observations based on the provided information.
- Positive Feedback on Treatment: One reviewer enthusiastically stated, "I liked the way of their treatment. best veterinarian of the town!" This indicates that at least one client had a very satisfactory experience with the medical care provided.
- Concerns Regarding Suture Healing and Post-Operative Care: A detailed review expressed significant issues regarding surgical complications. Specifically, it mentioned "complications regarding their sutures not healing properly" after spaying and dew claw removal, with stitches remaining in for an extended period. This suggests potential inconsistencies in surgical aftercare instructions or follow-up.
- Issues with Post-Operative Communication and Support: The same reviewer highlighted difficulties in obtaining necessary information or assistance when the doctor was not present. This included staff being unable to provide additional antibiotics, recommend alternative vets for assistance, or provide contact information for the vet or a main office number. This indicates a potential gap in their communication protocols or emergency support system for clients.
- Staff Demeanor (Mixed): While the staff in the concerning review were described as "nice" when called, their inability to provide solutions or alternative resources for a pet potentially suffering from infection was a major point of dissatisfaction. This contrasts with the implied positive interaction suggested by the "best veterinarian" comment.

Almaden Animal Clinic Reviews
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE! I have taken both of my dogs there to be fixed and have their dew claws removed, each time there were complications regarding their sutures not healing properly. It has since been 3 weeks since my dog has had his dew claws removed and he still has most of the stitches in. The staff there also gave me incorrect directions on how to properly take care of his sutures and now I believe they're infected. When I called in to ask questions the staff was nice but could not do anything for me since the doctor wasn't there, they could not give me more antibiotics, did not recommend alternative vets that could provide assistance nor did they give me information on how to contact the vet or a number to their main office. I will be finding a new vet.
