★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Had been bringing my dog here for almost 9 years. However, that ended when they almost killed my dog. If it were not for the efforts of the Waukesha Emergency Veterinary Services Cleo would have died. The vet at Animal Clinic of Elkhorn botched a simple spade surgery, leaving a vein untied. My dog almost bled to death. It cost me almost $7000 because of the mistake, plus the trauma to both me and my dog. The part that hurt the worst (almost) was that even thought they knew what happened the staff at the animal clinic never reached out to me. Am going to the vet in Cambridge now. Don't take your pet here, it is a lottery as to whether they kill your pet or not.UPDATE: The vet replied to my post and lied about what happened. When I called the vet office the early morning after the surgery, with blood coming out of the incision, was told the doctor would not be in until a couple hours later. So rushed Cleo to Waukesha were the doctor there said that if I had not gotten Cleo there when I did she would have died. The screw up by the elkhorn vet had nothing to do with Cleos age or health. In fact the doctor at Waukesha said if she was not as healthy as she was she would probably not made it. Other than my initial call to Elkhorn, the vet never contacted me. Maybe a lawyer is the next step.
July 30 · JP JouniorI’m so disappointed. My dogs have been going here for years. I am watching my grand dog and the poor fella is suffering, I begged for an appointment and they said sorry. Asked for a recommendation, “call around to other vets” is what I was told. I will and I won’t call back for my animals. I’m very disappointed to put it mildly. Turned out he developed a pulmonary bullae which was life threatening and needed immediate surgery. What really was so upsetting was the lack of care or empathy from the staff. I would have expected, at the very least a referral. Perhaps the office staff needs some compassion training.
August 28 · Cathy LoughranI had to put two of my babies down in 2024. Daisy was a 9 years old Saint Bernard (passed in February 2024) and Milo was a 13 years old Shih Tzu (passed in July 2024). My husband & I were devastated & heartbroken. The nurse, Vet & staff made us feel comfortable and showed us that they love your babies and what we were going through. We’ll continue coming to this place with our one year old Frankie (dachshund).
July 26 · Lourdes LasantaThe people who work here are kind and treat your animal well. Appreciate the decent prices considering how much veterinarians typically cost! My dog is very unhappy to have her nails cut, they always assure me it’s not uncommon and that they can handle it (I help hold her, but still so nice!). Appreciate you all.
May 01 · Tess HalpernWe brought our 19yr old cat in to be put to sleep. We are so heart broken, the nurse and the doctor were so kind and understanding. I cannot say enough about how great they were. This will be our new vet for our dogs and there our big babies. I highly recommend this clinic. Our little girl sound asleep in my drawer
