However, it is crucial for Massachusetts pet owners to be fully informed about experiences reported by other clients. Public reviews, including those provided, reveal significant concerns. Several accounts describe a perceived lack of empathy and a focus on financial transactions, with accusations of overcharging for medications. Instances where pets were reportedly not thoroughly examined despite showing distress, leading to tragic outcomes, have been shared. One review specifically mentions a dog being brought to the "Newton clinic" at 8:30 AM urgently needing help, where the veterinarian did not examine the dog at all, and no assistance or medical attention was provided despite clear distress, ultimately leading to the dog's passing later that afternoon. Another review from a family whose dog was "barely looked at" at "this clinic" (implying a Banfield location, likely Newton or potentially Woburn given the context of the provided reviews) also described the devastating loss of their pet hours later, citing a lack of urgency, compassion, and real attempt to understand the pet's health. There are also reports of difficulties with the Optimum Wellness Plans, including issues with automatic renewals, challenges in canceling plans, and disputes over charges for services not fully rendered or properly communicated. Clients have also expressed frustration with long wait times for appointments, particularly for sick visits, and a reliance on "drop-off" appointments which can limit direct interaction with the veterinarian during critical times. These serious concerns suggest that potential clients should exercise caution, thoroughly review all terms and conditions of any wellness plans, and clearly communicate their expectations regarding examinations, treatment plans, and costs before committing to care at this location.
For Massachusetts residents considering Banfield Pet Hospital in Woburn, or needing to contact them, the following details are available:
- Address: 114A Commerce Way, Woburn, MA 01801, USA (likely inside PetSmart)
- Phone: (781) 460-2237
It is advisable to contact the hospital directly to confirm current hours of operation, especially on weekends, and to inquire about specific services or concerns before visiting.
For Massachusetts pet owners in Woburn and surrounding areas, Banfield Pet Hospital presents itself as a convenient option for veterinary care, particularly through its Optimum Wellness Plans that aim to offer affordable preventive services and unlimited office visits. The appeal of a comprehensive package for routine care, combined with accessible online resources like Vet Chat™, can seem attractive for managing pet health proactively and within a budget.
However, based on significant feedback from multiple client experiences, potential visitors from Massachusetts should approach Banfield Pet Hospital in Woburn with careful consideration. Reports of a perceived lack of thorough examination during urgent visits, concerns over medication pricing disparities, and deeply distressing accounts of inadequate care leading to tragic outcomes for pets are serious, as highlighted by reviews describing pet passing away shortly after receiving inadequate attention. Furthermore, issues regarding the transparency and cancellation policies of the Optimum Wellness Plans have been raised, indicating potential financial and contractual complexities. While the convenience of location and the concept of wellness plans may be appealing, the consistent pattern of negative experiences regarding empathy, professional conduct, and clarity in billing and services suggests that pet owners prioritizing comprehensive, responsive, and compassionate care during critical times may need to explore alternative veterinary options in the Massachusetts area. It is vital for families to conduct thorough due diligence and engage in explicit communication about all aspects of care and associated costs to ensure their beloved pets receive the treatment and respect they deserve.

Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
I strongly advise against signing up for this plan or taking your beloved pets to this place. There is a complete lack of empathy, and everything revolves around money. They overcharge for medication — they prescribed my dog an eye drop and charged $50 for it, while I immediately found the exact same product at a different pharmacy for only $10.Yesterday, I brought my dog to the Newton clinic at 8:30 AM, urgently needing help. The veterinarian who spoke with us didn’t even touch our dog—she didn’t examine him at all. She informed me he was no longer eligible for the annual blood test and, when I asked how much it would cost to pay for it, she replied she wouldn’t review any lab work until after 2 PM.We left without any assistance, guidance, or medical attention—despite his clear distress.Desperate, we took him to another clinic and paid for everything out of pocket. Sadly, despite our efforts, he passed away later that afternoon. If you care about your pet, I strongly urge you not to bring them to this clinic. The lack of empathy and professionalism we experienced was devastating. He was deeply loved and has left a void that can never be filled. No pet should be treated the way he was, and no family should go through what we did.
Jun 28, 2025 · Tatiana LacetI'm devastated. Our family dog was seen at this clinic this morning because we knew something wasn’t right. He was barely looked at. Hours later, he passed away.We trusted this place to help him, and we feel completely failed. There was no urgency, no compassion, and no real attempt to understand what was happening with his health. Now he's gone.I’m writing this because I don’t want any other family to go through the same pain we are feeling now. If your animal is unwell, please think twice before bringing them here.
Jun 28, 2025 · vicbia98DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE. They don’t care about your pet’s wellbeing, only thing on their mind is money. The medication there is overly expensive and you can easily find cheaper medication elsewhere. My dog needed eye drops and they charged us 50 dollars for eye drops that we could have gotten for 10 dollars at Chewy. My dog passed away because they couldn’t do their job properly.
Jun 28, 2025 · DMI want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Yassine Absar at Banfield Woburn for the care, attention, and kindness he showed to my dog, Kika. After a very frustrating experience at another clinic, finding such a compassionate, respectful, and professional veterinarian was truly a relief.Dr. Yassine was clear in his explanations, gentle with my concerns, and — most importantly — incredibly kind to Kika. His calm and caring approach made all the difference in such a stressful moment for both of us.It’s rare to find someone who treats not just the pet, but the owner too, with such genuine care. I highly recommend Banfield Woburn — and especially Dr. Yassine — to anyone looking for trustworthy and loving veterinary care
