Mind, I could have said something to them to please shut the door. I have been going to Banfield for a few years and recognize them leaving the door open is not a normal thing for them to do. Historically, they do not do this and I am chalking this up to the employee and not the business as a whole. I appreciate they always have coffee because I am never awake during drop off for my pet. They have a history over the years of providing me with empathy when I am stressed about my pet and verbalize an understanding if something might be financially out of my ability to cover financially. They have provided me with alternative routes on what to do if I need to cover something that might be challenging to pay for. I have been seeing Banfield for around 8 years and overall they have been amazing.
July 31 · Marisa BenderWent in today for a 7am drop off had a pretty awful experience. I showed up a day prior to pick up the anti-nausea pill to give him the night before his neutering surgery. At drop-off I was talking with the doctor about my dog and mentioned that he did get about an eighth of a cup of food, which is almost nothing, just so he doesn’t go starving all day long. They told me that I would have to wait 6 hours for the surgery and would do it towards the end of the day. Mind you I took him outside to go to the bathroom and he went, but not a lot which means what I fed him already went through his system. I was okay with a delayed surgery that same day, but I get a call 4 hours after drop-off saying they can’t do the surgery because he was being too “rambunctious” and couldn’t do blood sampling. How are these “professional” veterinarians not able to hold down or hold onto an 18 pound chihuahua. He has gotten his blood work don’t there before and had no issues at all. Dr. Cobarrubias was especially unprofessional when they bring him out and set a baggie of random medicine on the counter as if he needed it. HE GOT NOTHING DONE TO HIM AT THIS POINT! Not even a shaved patch where a needle would go, which tells me they didn’t care enough to even try. Ever since these new doctors came in, Banfield is the last place I would trust my animals to be at. My dog is going to Baker City in 4 days and I won’t be able to get him in for another 3-4 months because I won’t be with him. I have already waited for a while to get the appointment he had. They had no answers as to why they couldn’t proceed because I acknowledged all the “risks of vomiting and respiratory pneumonia” even though I knew his stomach was empty. I took my dog back and patiently waited for them to tell me no available times in the coming days unless they had a cancellation or a reschedule. THEY SAID ITS A 30 MINUTE PROCEDURE. How could they be so busy, when there is maybe 1 or 2 dogs/cats in the back (you can see all the kennels from the door windows in the lobby). I took my dog and left the waste of medicine in their counter. Absolutely no justifiable reason my dog couldn’t get his procedure done. Unprofessional and disappointed in their “care for pets” after they claim they believe all dogs should be neutered. Bet you they will deny it too. Never coming back unless my wellness plan covers 100% of the cost.

I have stopped in two different clinics in salem before and only Anna took the time to help me though this facilitating the process and saving me time. In my situation is definitely a HERO! Thank you very much 🐈🦸♀️🩷
June 04 · Claudia AlonaziIf I could leave zero stars, I would! Our experience with this veterinary clinic was disappointing and unprofessional. Shortly after dropping off our dog for a scheduled appointment, we received a phone call in which the veterinarian spoke to us in a condescending and accusatory manner, just because our dog showed mild signs of anxiety. They have this detail in his file, I have no idea why they didn't look it up before calling us. To make matters worse, we were given an ultimatum that the surgery would not proceed unless we agreed to purchase an e-collar on the spot. We were told earlier that morning from another employee that it was no problem to leave our recovery suit with them instead of buying an e-collar. This approach was unnecessary and unsettling. We will be canceling our plan with this clinic. Do not recommend.
July 26 · MylèneDo not take your dog here.Let's go over a bit of history.I have a rescue dog, who has some ongoing minor issues throughout her life. I went to Banfield hoping the wellness plan would help me not pay an astounding amount for her visits and medication.Early on, I had 3 occasions of asking for help with skin allergies- was told it might be cancer each time.Asked for help with her nails, tech cut half of one of her nails off, made her bleed and goes "yeah, so that happens." No compassion at all.But most recently was my last straw.Now lastly, my last visit included me being able to hear staff laughing at dogs test results saying "that PH is suspicious!" and laughing. I could also hear something about a vet tech and patient communicating incorrectly about a dog bleeding while going to the bathroom and staying over night. Literally no privacy... and then a vet comes in to tell me she had a high PH... like, I can put 2 and 2 together on where the laughing was from.I want to preface my concern by saying my dog loves people. She is almost never nervous or concerned being around others. Ever. My dog is NEVER nervous, she usually is very friendly and loves people and was so uncomfortable during our last visit she was panting and at the door begging me to leave. (Sitting at the door opposite of employees, continuing to nudge the door waiting for me to respond and give her what she wanted.)While I sat there and tried to calm her down, the excuses I got were "well she knows you're in here, so that's why she wants to be in here." And my favorite "this is a nervous place, so thats why she's scared." Not taking any accountability for making such an uncomfortable environment and then continuing to make excuses instead of trying to be even remotely inclusive or supportive at all.The vet sat at the far end of the room and just spouted science terms and did nothing to actually explain, ask questions or remotely take interest in my dog.I asked for a call back, and was ignored. Posted how I felt about this visit on Instagram and was told the info would be relayed.In order for me to cancel the plan, apparently I have to pay the rest of the year? Im not canceling to cancel, my dog is uncomfortable and im not taking her back to a place that made her so uncomfortable. This is lack of patient care.Oh and then that vet opted to let me know this other test should happen, for my dogs well being. Not required, but should happen, and is ONLY a couple extra hundred dollars. So fear mongering and then very judgemental energy when I say no, because I cant afford it.Not to mention the vet acted like this was new to me, even tho she has a history with this situation and at the very least asking me if I understand first, instead of some script about what this is. A history that i had stated when I came in, and should be on file. Or you can... you know, ask?And then I call again today and the manager who i asked for a call back from said she "tried to call but had issues with the phone." .... Oh, and the reason no interaction was given my dog? They prefer not to.... ?? What? My dog wasn't mean, aggressive or shown any signs ever. And asking me questions on how to make her feel better goes a lot further than just not doing it.Banfield, own it. We're all humans here.- Hey, since your dog and I dont know each other that well, I'm gonna sit over here so we can talk, then her and I will interact.- So let's go over some stuff. Would you prefer we talk about the science of it? Or the diagnosis and we can evaluate how this happened?- I have some additional tests id like to run. We dont necessarily need to do it, but due to your dogs history with this, id prefer to run it.- I know you called and wanted to discuss your last visit, I'm so sorry you hadn't received a call back. How can I help now?Your approach is atrocious. You deal with parents of animals that are stressed out 90% of the time they see you. Please build some compassion.
