This is kind of long. My dog had been having diarrhea for a couple weeks, I did the bland diet and he needed more help. I took him to this vet and the vet tested him for parasites and bacterias. He came back clear. They put him on a prescription diet and said it may be allergic. My dog continued to have diarrhea and lose weight over the next 2 weeks. Finally I demanded a pancreas test. They refused to do the test and kept pushing a 300$ bacterial and parasite test. I explained my dog has no contact with any other animals he has no risk factors for parasites. They assured me that the test they wanted to do actually had a test for the pancreas in it. So I agreed but I really didn't want to. During this more week my dog continued to lose weight and become extremely emaciated. I asked for high calorie paste or anything that would keep weight on my 100 lb dog that was now 73 lbs. They told me no told me to without food more because he still had diarrhea. I refuse to without any more food. They gave him another prescription diet that gave him the worse diarrhea I have ever seen. The next day my dog started having severe head tremors, he couldn't really walk or move. I took him to an emergency vet. They immediately gave him electrolytes, a low fat food and said I'm they were pretty sure it was pancreas..but also might be addisons. They gave him steroids. Without them my dog would've died. The emergency vet said they often hear from people that come from here and haven't been helped. My dog was tested and diagnosed with epi. His pancreas didn't work at all. He was starving and dying. The vet here is extremely nice and called to check on him but besides that the quality of work was very subpar. This vet gave my dog medicine that the emergency vet said isn't even recommended anymore..when I explained that to the vet office they shrugged it off. I wouldn't recommend it. They push for exspensive tests that I could've avoided had they did the one 80$ test. - Jenga O (Topanga)

Choosing a vet is a personal decision, and while The Pet Clinic offers a wide range of services, it’s important to find the right fit for your pet’s specific needs. The clinic’s strength lies in its comprehensive service list and its ability to handle a variety of medical issues. For a routine visit, as one client noted, the clinic, and specifically Dr. Ken, can provide a quick diagnosis and effective treatment plan, getting your pet feeling better in no time. The client whose cat had an infection and received antibiotics and was feeling better quickly is a good example of the clinic’s ability to handle common issues effectively.

However, it is crucial for pet owners to be prepared to advocate for their pet's health and to ensure a full range of tests are considered, especially when dealing with complex or persistent issues. The review about the dog with a chronic condition highlights the importance of open communication and collaboration between the owner and the veterinary team. While the vet was kind and followed up, the client felt that they had to push for a specific test that ultimately led to the correct diagnosis. This shows that while the clinic has extensive resources, an active role from the pet owner can be beneficial.

The Pet Clinic remains a significant resource in the Salem area due to its wide range of services and accessibility. It's a clinic with a vast array of tools and treatments at its disposal, making it a valuable place for many pet owners. For those seeking a clinic that offers everything from routine care to advanced diagnostics and a caring staff, The Pet Clinic is a strong option.
