Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in Chesapeake, Virginia, maintaining the health and well-being of their furry companions is a top priority. Banfield Pet Hospital offers a distinct model of veterinary care centered on preventative medicine. Located in a convenient spot, this animal hospital focuses on proactive health management to help pets live long and healthy lives. Rather than a place to visit only when a pet is sick, Banfield aims to be a consistent partner in health, providing services that keep animals in top condition from puppyhood or kittenhood through their senior years. This approach is anchored by their signature Optimum Wellness Plans, which bundle essential services into a manageable monthly payment. The hospital serves both cats and dogs and is equipped to handle a variety of needs, from routine vaccinations to minor surgical procedures. By providing a wide range of services under one roof, Banfield Pet Hospital strives to make pet care more accessible and predictable for families in the Virginia region.

To manage patient flow and provide focused attention to each animal, Banfield Pet Hospital operates on an appointment-required or appointments-recommended basis. This system helps to reduce waiting times and ensures that the veterinary team can dedicate the necessary time for each comprehensive exam or procedure. The hospital also prides itself on being an LGBTQ+ friendly establishment, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the community.
Banfield Pet Hospital provides a comprehensive list of veterinary services for dogs and cats. A major highlight of Banfield Pet Hospital is its Optimum Wellness Plan. This is a yearly, subscription-based package of preventative services designed to make pet care more affordable and predictable for pet owners. The plans are tiered and tailored to different species, ages, and needs. A key feature of these plans is the offer of "unlimited office visits" with no additional office visit fee. This is a significant point of attraction for many pet owners, as it encourages them to bring their pets in for concerns without worrying about unexpected costs. The plans also typically include a discount on products and services not covered by the plan. Additionally, many locations are Cat Friendly and Fear-Free Certified, indicating a commitment to reducing stress and anxiety for pets during their visit. The staff's knowledge and friendly demeanor are also frequently highlighted by customers who have had positive experiences, with one reviewer stating that the staff is "super friendly & super knowledgeable" and that a specific staff member went "above and beyond." This personal touch and dedication to animal well-being are key features that make the hospital a good fit for many families.

What is worth choosing about Banfield Pet Hospital is its emphasis on proactive, preventative care through its Optimum Wellness Plans. For a pet owner in Virginia who wants to budget for their pet's health and ensure they receive regular check-ups, vaccinations, and other routine care, the wellness plan model can be a very appealing and cost-effective option. The "unlimited visits" feature is a major draw, providing peace of mind and the encouragement to seek veterinary advice whenever a minor concern arises. The positive reviews from clients who have had great experiences with the friendly and knowledgeable staff highlight the compassionate care that can be found at this location. However, it is also important to consider the feedback regarding corporate policies. Some customers have expressed frustration with the corporate-level decisions that can make it difficult to be seen for non-routine issues, despite the "unlimited visits" promise. These experiences suggest that while the wellness plans are excellent for preventative care, they may not be a suitable substitute for a full-service, independent animal hospital that can provide comprehensive, urgent care for unexpected illnesses or injuries. The value of Banfield lies in its role as a dedicated provider of routine, predictable health services. For pet owners in the Chesapeake region, it’s worth choosing Banfield for its structured, preventative health model, but it is also important to be aware of the limitations of a corporate veterinary practice when facing more complex medical issues. The hospital is a great option for consistent, proactive care, but it may be beneficial to have a backup plan for emergencies.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Service and staff are okay. Some are great, some are pretty bad. The reason for the two star review is more for the corporate policies and sleight of hand regarding the wellness plan. I think it’s these policies that put the staff in difficult situations to handle. The wellness plan offers unlimited visits. They have *never* seen us for any reason outside of routine visits despite the wellness plan making it sound like they’ll see you for other reasons. It’s disingenuous to offer that as an included service then tell patients they need to be seen elsewhere because whatever extra service is outside of their capability or they’re too busy and simply can’t see a patient.
July 10 · Justin JaynesThe best Vets office!! Super friendly & super knowledgeable staff. They care so deeply for my pets and their needs. Specifically Meghan goes above and beyond. Could not be more pleased.
July 30 · Shelby FunfgeldFirst, this is our first time here because Greenbrier was booked(because they are awesome!) Now for this Battlefield location…I arrived early with “MY DOG” Marley for his yearly vaccinations. Check in was great! On the other hand, the technician falsely accused me of stealing my own dog…flat out said “I don’t believe this is your dog”…when she could clearly see I had him vaccinated before at the Greenbrier location. Well I called my hairstylist, whom gave me and my family Marley, there was no answer but she called me back and I told her what had happened and she was disgusted and disappointed by it. There was an account in her husband’s name (Curtis)when they had Marley, which he forgot to cancel the plan, therefore she said I stole his dog. I called his number while in the office and left him a message to call them. The manager didn’t even come in the room to speak to me, no apology was given, and honestly I felt I was discriminated against because I’m a black woman with an expensive, adorable dog! It infuriates me that they would treat anyone like they treated me! I will be making a formal complaint to a hire up than in that office. What she should have done was start an account for him since she was very incompetent at understanding Marley’s two families and that I was paying out of pocket for his care. Never again will I even bring a dead animal in that building and will let everyone that I know how I have been treated and discriminated against. Meanwhile I have Marley’s vaccination set at another location, with a MUCH better qualified staff.
May 01 · Denise BenjaminTwo years ago we got a new puppy and signed her up for the puppy care plan. Best money ever spent! It is worth the price! A month ago we got another puppy and signed him up too. The staff is friendly, polite and the vets are wonderful too! Highly recommend!
February 08 · Angela SThey do their very best, to comfort your pet in what can be a stressful situation for them, and give you all the information you need to keep your pets healthy. One of my dog hates going to the vet, and everyone at BPH knows it, but they understand that, and do what they can to comfort her, and get her and I through the stressful visit. They are all great!
